It's no wonder that Darnell Wright is now expected to go top 20. That OL kept Hooker clean basically the whole game. A team that isn't quite committed to their QB but that they can't move off of just yet makes a ton of sense for Hooker's landing spot, likely in the 2nd round. (Minnesota, Tennessee, New England?, Vegas, LA Rams & Arizona)
He played at UT. National media has a vendetta against the vols. They get some good coverage. They won’t hype hooker up like they do other players at other schools. The vols haven’t been in a position to get any coverage for some time and I understand that, but only a select few would hype Hendo up. Hopefully things change for the better.
For the record he finished the season not playing the final game due to injury. Before injury he was set to be a #1 draft pick and was a heisman possible. He still finished #1 qbr rating in sec 175.5, least interception only 2!, highest completion percentage 69.9 %. Hard to do that in the SEC. Also vols played 6 ranked opponents during the year. Most in the sec.
He out duelled the first round pick and Detroit drafted him. On the other side Alabama ran their whole offense thru Jahmyr the rb and Detroit drafted him. And another player maker of Alabama's defense
I really think that teams are going to overlook Hooker because of his age, injury, and very weird offence he played in college and he might fall to the third round or so and whomever picks him up is going to have a superstar on their roster in a few years.
it makes the most sense. It looks like will is still going to be a 1st rounder, so if we can trade back for a couple 2nds pick up hooker and a corner then i’m already happy with the draft.
Watching Hooker film reminds me of watching Manziel film. With Johnny I came away thinking I'd rather draft his WR Mike Evans, and now with Hooker I'd rather draft Hyatt. NFL defenses are going to have their way with Hooker. Some styles just don't translate well from college to the NFL.
This was exactly the comment I was looking for, Hyatt won this game for the Vols. Alabama simply didn't have near enough speed to contain him. Hooker is the perfect example of a one-read and take off QB, he will only move his eyes if it is already integrated into the specific play's design. If the first read isn't there he's taking off the majority of the time and the rest of the time he goes straight to the checkdown. I love his intangibles and the person, I just don't see the traits that scream NFL starting QB. This offense is primarily bubbles, screens, and gos, and while he does a great job with those, he's not attempting or completing many complicated NFL level throws. He will be a backup in this league a long time because of his personality and intangibles, however it is unreasonable to expect him to be even a capable starting NFL QB.
I would definitely love to see him fall to our pick from the Rams... And hopefully snag Will Anderson with our own. His inaccurate throws are what separates him from the other 2 but we have a good enough offensive system for him to develop in over the next couple of years
I hope they draft him too. Dak has 2 more years left on his contract but in 1 more year they can get out of it pretty easily. Hooker will probably need a year to heal from his injury. The timing would line up. It would be awkward between them. At the very least it puts Dak on notice to shit or get off the pot.
@@peenhead9938 he’d be a plug and play easily. Not too banged up either, he does what carr doesn’t and THROWS the ball. maybe the accuracy isn’t 100% but he can get better
He's OK. Weaknesses are a below average processor, not really a natural scramble/thrower (see C.J. Stroud) and loses accuracy at and outside the numbers. Otherwise he's got great accuracy over the middle and NFL arm strength, and could be picking up 500-800 yards a year with his legs in the NFL. But not really seeing potential top 8 QB play here so don't really want him. The star here is Hyatt.
My thoughts exactly. I remember watching Manziel tape and always thinking I'd rather take Mike Evans, now I'm doing that with Hooker/Hyatt. I'd rather have Hyatt. Hooker is going to struggle against NFL defenses.
Clearly looks like a pro playing with really good amateurs. Just a level above. Kid is a baller

nope
If he was 21 he’d be the #1 qb in the draft
Most QB's don't hit their prime until 27-30 anyway, age for this position is overblown for pocket passers
