Very similar but the Miracle is complete. Without needing anything extra like chants from James to super star
He just has so many layers of ability. Hoffnug, the Miracle and then a cross that can revive him from pure energy. He's like the ultimate counter to Shinigami. You would need someone like Urahara or Mayuri to survive long enough to figure a way of breaking the cross.

The combination of growing stronger by being damaged and hurting your enemies because they damaged your weapon is a really cool concept. Gerad sure has a OP power, but given his role as the final hurdle for the Gotei 13, he made his battle a true spectacle.
The Miracle reminds me a little of the Hogyoku. The ability to manifest miracles instead of the will of the wielder. Imagine if Kubo installed a similar weakness. Losing hope, for example, could weaken and break his powers.
Except miracle is actually a little bit restrained. The only miracle it seems to manifest is that of an underdog gaining the power to win a fight. Kinda reminds me of Mask’s power 🤔
the hogyoku doesn't create miracles it increases growth rate and helps the user reach it's peak but it can't make your stronger then your genetic limitations@@thecanmanification
The only thing is the hogyoku at its core is just way more broken than the miracle. Going by the pace of the show i really am hoping that the hogyoku will play a much bigger role and so will the sokyoku. The sokyoku was a really cool weapon and I hope it gets utilised in the anime.
I just realized something both Gerard and Hachwalt both use a Weapon that absorbs or redirects somthing to something else. And their Shrifts work simalr similar in the aspects of misfortune and fortune, as well as Despair and Miracle.
Converting physical damage in to mass and power is one of the miracles abilities however he openly displays that he can use it in several other ways. Like being able to locate what he described as finding a needle in a haystack in the second.
Gerard's Miracle and Ichigo's powers are both formidable, but it's hard to compare them directly as they have different abilities and contexts. Each has their own unique strengths and weaknesses.
please keep in mind that everything we have seen from the Schutzstaffel are AFTER they were revived by Yhwach... meaning that their feats are literally them WITH the Auswahlen buff, in other words, they have the entire Quincy army's powers(or more so they are fueled by dead stern ritters on top of their regular powers) the miracle, the x-axis, the compulsory AND the death-dealing have all been made completely useless by an incomplete unnamed zanpakuto that Nimaiya decided to use for absolutely no other reason than he was just confident he could kill all of them with just that said zanpakuto and so he did... and then Yhwach stole the powers of whatever Quincy that remained and gave it to the Schutzstaffel, then they got revived and became stronger because they also got buffed by said stolen powers. so in conclusion, if Yhwach DID NOT revive them through the sacrifice of other stern ritters they would have all probably been defeated really easily by the Gotei Captains... because right at the very end Yhwach did the exact same thing to them and stole their powers to make himself stronger

Ywach can't revive without his Ashwalen. To give them life and their powers back Ywach gave them Ashwalen. There is no extra power added. Also most of them went to Ywach cause he lost his half powers cause of Ichibeis Zanpakto. Dont make your theories on simple facts here

It's absolutely mind-boggling to consider that the cross managed to survive unscathed against a character possessing the ability to literally cut through any object. I can't help but speculate whether the cross is an item exclusively consumable and removable by Yhwach from Gerard. It's possible that Kubo intended to convey the notion that if the central source of Gerard's power (the cross) can indeed be destroyed, it can only be achieved by Yhwach, as evidenced by Kenpachi's inability to do so.
Really feels like Kubo realized he screwed up with the Espada and making them so underpowered and unimpressive after all the hype surrounding them that he overcorrected with these guys by making them as Broken as possible.
Personally, I don't think the Espada were underpowered or unimpressive. For the points in the story they were at, I think they were definitely quite strong and would definitely be able to take out at least one of the Sternritter each, even if it was one of the weaker ones, or if the matchups were specifically chosen in the Espadas' favour. One thing a lot of people misunderstand about Bleach powerscaling is that the fights aren't necessarily always battles of "power" but very often battles of ideology, emotions and mental states. The Sternritter wiping the floor with the Shinigami at the beginning of the war is basically the ideological conflict that was explained by Yhwach after his fight with Yamamoto. The reason they started winning later was because they started using new strategies and pulling out all the stops (i.e. getting the help of Aizen, or fast tracking bankais through the zero division for Renji and Rukia).
Along with what the guy above said, you have to understand the setup of both groups. The Shinigami were PERFECTLY set up to fight the Espada, as they knew what they were getting into, and had multiple people in place to fight them, along with having complete home ground advantage. On the flip, the stern completely to the shinigami by surprise, hence putting them on the back foot severely. I truly believe if the Espada were to attack the Seirtte the same way the stern did, the results may be pretty much the same. Especially if the gas Aizen at their lead, like Ywach was at the head of the stern
I agree….like frfr out of the top 3 espada the only one who felt like they were really on a near impossible to beat level was barangan, with his age/rot ability…a power that effected any and everything. Tbh he could free aizen with that ability just by touching the seals on aizens chair…or he could break down the soul king himself and do exactly what yawach planned to do. All he has to do is either touch the target or make contact with his Respira attack and it’s over
Both lily barro and gerard are the strongest, but with this cross weakenest of gerard, raise the question which one between gerard and lily are actually the strongest now. Lily barro has dealt with a Deus ex machina created just to get rid of him using his own power against him. In gerard case, the king took his power killing him, but we now know if someone breaks the cross inside gerard body he would die and be defeated for real.

I mean, when the cross showed up I figured that's what Kubo was doing. Ie "Here is the bosses critical point, kill it to kill him" But good lord, I didn't think there would be another trick with the core.

People getting angry at kubo and saying he was just “making things up” is a ridiculous thing to say since that’s what all writers do. Not to mention even back when the chapter came out the art very much implied it was his cross keeping him alive. Sounds more like people are angry that they were too dumb to figure it out.
Frankly I think anime needs more OP villains like Gerard and Ywach. The difference between them and Kaguya whom most didn't like as an OP villain is that Gerard and Ywach were entertaining to watch from start to finish. They were broken but in fun ways that kept things very interesting to watch while Kaguya was just boring.

Since Gerard is already a literal component of the most powerful being in Bleach (the original Soul King) it makes sense that he would be very OP. Actually him and Lille make sense in this regard as they should be on par with Squad Zero at the very least and above the current Gotei 13. The other choices for Yhwach's guard don't make as much sense since Pernida lacks the intelligence and durability of Gerard/Lille and Askin was seemingly hastily promoted up and similarly lack the durability to really stand up to Squad Zero or the enhanced Gotei 13. There were probably better choices among the Sternritter for the two slots if we remove Askin/Pernida and accept that whoever replaces them will get a massive power boost from Yhwach's Auswahlen. A smart Gremmy would be suitably OP along with Lille/Gerard and it would probably make more sense narratively if Uryu was actually forced into the fight against Squad Zero at the very least even if he does still try to betray Yhwach later on.
The Miracle is basically Gerard Valkyrie getting stronger like a Saiyan. With each damage he gets he becomes stronger and his sword reflects damage to those who clash it. It forced Toshiro to unlock his true bankai and froze Valkyrie and negate The Miracle.
There are actually three reasons why Kenpachi wasn't capable of destroying Gerard's cross core and none of them have anything to do with Kenpachi not being strong enough to. 1.Kenpachi wasn't aiming for the cross. 2.He wasn't capable of rational thought due to being in a berserker rage. 3.His bankai began to break his body down due to it's power.

I listed the reasons why Zaraki wasn't capable of destroying Gerard's core and it once again had nothing to do with him not being strong enough to. In ch.578 pg.5, not only is it stated that Kenpachi can cut thru anything, it is also stated by Kubo himself that Zaraki has the strongest blade being called"unrivaled"or translated from the original Japanese language 極大の刃！！！ The greatest of all blades!!!

His miracle is extremely powerful. But I can think of powerful characters that can probably stand a chance and win against him. Gremmy, YuhaBaha, Jugram, Ichibei, Yamamoto, possibly aizen and Ichigo idk, and aura or the powerful fullbringer girl.
Dude might as well have been called I The Immortal, because he pretty much was. Dude's power was so insanely strong I don't get why they didn't just send him into the Sereitei on his own, by the time anyone figured out he had a weakpoint he'd be so stupid powerful no one could stop him.
I love for example when dragon Ball z fans say that a character could destroy everyone in Bleach... I tried to explain to them that there are some abilities that are so broken that a lot of their guys would get absolutely wrecked. Could Gerard crush high tier dragon Ball z character or even many. I know this is an older video, but as for why the Cross wasn't destroyed when Kenmy turned the Miracle Man into a cross section; I think of it like Ghosts in Destiny 2 A guardian can self rez almost infinitely (exceptions apply) unless the ghost is destroyed. The ghost is not physical until it goes to Rez the guardian.
I remember someone saying what if Isshin and Ryuken were supposed to join the fights against Lillie and Gerard and tbh if something like that were supposed to happen at first Ryuken would have been a good character to use to expose Gerard’s weakness
I mean, it's like most Uber powers in Bleach, it's OP but has a major weakness or requirement-the Medallion/Cross. If Gerard went up against someone who pretty much vaporized or utterly disintegrated him(with the cross) he'd be killed pretty easily. Something like Old Man Yama's Bankai, Barragan's Respira, or Gin's poison that disintegrates on the molecular level would all have a very easy time with Gerard.

I don't think he had plot armour but he was way too OP in context. Maybe not well develop? I don't know. I just felt even Aizen had a weakness and he's brilliant and would body everyone.
It's hard to actually kill people, but they get fatally wounded all the time. As for Gerard, he fodderized and defeated like 8 Vice-Captain and Captain class Soul Reapers on his own. Only other person to achieve that was Aizen.

As shunsui said: when you're half strong, it's hard to die even if you want to. Rukia explains how their spirit energy is tied to their life force, and Mayuri explained how the only way to kill someone is to stop the flow of their spirit energy. So, yeah, doesn't matter how it's done, you just need to fuck them up until they can't handle it. Like a health bar in a video game with DOT when they bleed

I believe they are going to keep everything happened in the manga same in anime. But would add additional scene. For eq, They could show a buildup to the silver arrow, as they are showing build-up that aizen is important. They could extend fights or focus more on side scenes , like what is happening In ss to lieutenants or etc
Can you pls do an episode on the Soul King's severed body parts and their reincarnation? We only know the hands' and the heart's reincarnation as Pernida, Ukitake, and Gerard, respectively. What about legs or other body parts not revealed yet? Why were some quinces and others Shinigami? Can they be reincarnated as hollows or in hell?
Id love to see a normal shinigami beating gerard, like a foot soldier in a 1v1, because then the miracle wouldnt make sense, as gerard would not be facing any danger . I think the more people facing him, the more powerful he gets
Ichigo will eventually travel to the past and become the Original Soul King, and seperated from White the original Hollow that is the sand of Hueco Mundo. Gerard is his heart but not physical heart. All the unkillable in Muken are shards of the Soul King
All fullbringer are the shard of the soul king in reality, the hogyoku is just multiple shards combined that let aizen became a fullbringer that had control over it's soul king peace.
All I'm saying is my boy oetsu killed him with one swing!! People were gonna say his ability or schrift wasn't activated, but his ability is always activated oetsu cut through that weakness which killed him
I feel like you could create a simple weakness for the miracle: that if somehow Gerard is overwhelmingly winning but has yet to kill his opponents, there's a chance the ability could work IN REVERSE and allow his opponents to pull off a "miracle" instead to defeat him. Sounds dumb at first, but its a pretty reasonable downside for having such a broken effect in the first place.
you should re-read the fight, he became huge cause he was mocking them, he can chose the miracle he creates and even chose power every time after first size increase the last miracle made him bigger but he needed to reform.
The unresolved mystery is how did Gerard died after being stabbed by Nemaiya? Why didnt his Miracle activates? Since the Miracle is his own power, not bestowed by Ywach, from the start the power should be able to activate anytime he is injured. Same question for Pernida, how did it died from a stabbed by Nemaiya?
Kubo mentioned the Cross inside Gerard is the weakness spot. If it get destroyed, Gerard would die permanently. I think it's safe to assume Oetsu cut the said cross without even realizing, which resulting Gerard's absolute defeat

Two things you missed DBZimran. 1.Hitsugaya's ice did hit Gerard's core because he frozen all the way thru due to him still holding Toshiro in his left hand(ch.672 pg.4-5). 2.Toshiro's ice had nothing to do with Kenpachi being able to knock Gerard over because he'd already broken out of Toshiro's ice before Kenpachi put his fingertips in Gerard's heel(ch.671 pg.15). That was just pure strength.
Ichigo would have broken the cross since *Shikai Ichigo* destroyed Reio Yhwach's body after Yhwach had absorbed all of Gerard's power meaning that Shikai Ichigo's AP>>>the defenses of Yhwach+Reio's Carcass+Mimihagi+ all the dead Quincy+Gerard there is also Yhwach's statement of none of his subordinates being capable of controlling Yamamoto's Bankai so potentially Yama and Ichibei are above Gerard and his cross despite Zaraki's Bankai failing Transcendent Aizen as well

no, Jugram sword is better. it doesn't just reflect damage, it can even reflect events. while Gerard sword is formed by the enemies hope, it will only reflect the damage on beings full of hope.

It's absolutely mind-boggling to consider that the cross managed to survive unscathed against a character possessing the ability to literally cut through any object. I can't help but speculate whether the cross is an item exclusively consumable and removable by Yhwach from Gerard. It's possible that Kubo intended to convey the notion that if the central source of Gerard's power (the cross) can indeed be destroyed, it can only be achieved by Yhwach, as evidenced by Kenpachi's inability to do so.

Really feels like Kubo realized he screwed up with the Espada and making them so underpowered and unimpressive after all the hype surrounding them that he overcorrected with these guys by making them as Broken as possible.
Personally, I don't think the Espada were underpowered or unimpressive. For the points in the story they were at, I think they were definitely quite strong and would definitely be able to take out at least one of the Sternritter each, even if it was one of the weaker ones, or if the matchups were specifically chosen in the Espadas' favour. One thing a lot of people misunderstand about Bleach powerscaling is that the fights aren't necessarily always battles of "power" but very often battles of ideology, emotions and mental states. The Sternritter wiping the floor with the Shinigami at the beginning of the war is basically the ideological conflict that was explained by Yhwach after his fight with Yamamoto. The reason they started winning later was because they started using new strategies and pulling out all the stops (i.e. getting the help of Aizen, or fast tracking bankais through the zero division for Renji and Rukia).
Along with what the guy above said, you have to understand the setup of both groups.
The Shinigami were PERFECTLY set up to fight the Espada, as they knew what they were getting into, and had multiple people in place to fight them, along with having complete home ground advantage.
On the flip, the stern completely to the shinigami by surprise, hence putting them on the back foot severely.
I truly believe if the Espada were to attack the Seirtte the same way the stern did, the results may be pretty much the same.
Especially if the gas Aizen at their lead, like Ywach was at the head of the stern

I agree….like frfr out of the top 3 espada the only one who felt like they were really on a near impossible to beat level was barangan, with his age/rot ability…a power that effected any and everything. Both lily barro and gerard are the strongest, but with this cross weakenest of gerard, raise the question which one between gerard and lily are actually the strongest now. Lily barro has dealt with a Deus ex machina created just to get rid of him using his own power against him. In gerard case, the king took his power killing him, but we now know if someone breaks the cross inside gerard body he would die and be defeated for real.

People getting angry at kubo and saying he was just “making things up” is a ridiculous thing to say since that’s what all writers do. Not to mention even back when the chapter came out the art very much implied it was his cross keeping him alive. Sounds more like people are angry that they were too dumb to figure it out.

Frankly I think anime needs more OP villains like Gerard and Ywach. The difference between them and Kaguya whom most didn't like as an OP villain is that Gerard and Ywach were entertaining to watch from start to finish. They were broken but in fun ways that kept things very interesting to watch while Kaguya was just boring.

Since Gerard is already a literal component of the most powerful being in Bleach (the original Soul King) it makes sense that he would be very OP. Actually him and Lille make sense in this regard as they should be on par with Squad Zero at the very least and above the current Gotei 13. The other choices for Yhwach's guard don't make as much sense since Pernida lacks the intelligence and durability of Gerard/Lille and Askin was seemingly hastily promoted up and similarly lack the durability to really stand up to Squad Zero or the enhanced Gotei 13.
There were probably better choices among the Sternritter for the two slots if we remove Askin/Pernida and accept that whoever replaces them will get a massive power boost from Yhwach's Auswahlen. A smart Gremmy would be suitably OP along with Lille/Gerard and it would probably make more sense narratively if Uryu was actually forced into the fight against Squad Zero at the very least even if he does still try to betray Yhwach later on.
The ability fit the fight with him so well that after while I began to think to myself “these guys will need a miracle to win this fight”
The Miracle is basically Gerard Valkyrie getting stronger like a Saiyan. With each damage he gets he becomes stronger and his sword reflects damage to those who clash it. It forced Toshiro to unlock his true bankai and froze Valkyrie and negate The Miracle.

There are actually three reasons why Kenpachi wasn't capable of destroying Gerard's cross core and none of them have anything to do with Kenpachi not being strong enough to.
1.Kenpachi wasn't aiming for the cross.
2.He wasn't capable of rational thought due to being in a berserker rage.
3.His bankai began to break his body down due to it's power.

Dude might as well have been called I The Immortal, because he pretty much was. Dude's power was so insanely strong I don't get why they didn't just send him into the Sereitei on his own, by the time anyone figured out he had a weakpoint he'd be so stupid powerful no one could stop him.

I love for example when dragon Ball z fans say that a character could destroy everyone in Bleach... I tried to explain to them that there are some abilities that are so broken that a lot of their guys would get absolutely wrecked. Could Gerard crush high tier dragon Ball z character or even many. A guardian can self rez almost infinitely (exceptions apply) unless the ghost is destroyed. The ghost is not physical until it goes to Rez the guardian.
I remember someone saying what if Isshin and Ryuken were supposed to join the fights against Lillie and Gerard and tbh if something like that were supposed to happen at first Ryuken would have been a good character to use to expose Gerard’s weakness
I mean, it's like most Uber powers in Bleach, it's OP but has a major weakness or requirement-the Medallion/Cross. If Gerard went up against someone who pretty much vaporized or utterly disintegrated him(with the cross) he'd be killed pretty easily. Something like Old Man Yama's Bankai, Barragan's Respira, or Gin's poison that disintegrates on the molecular level would all have a very easy time with Gerard.
The hogyoku is easier to destroy then that cross it's the heart of soul king aka god.

I don't think he had plot armour but he was way too OP in context. Maybe not well develop? I don't know. I just felt even Aizen had a weakness and he's brilliant and would body everyone.
It's hard to actually kill people, but they get fatally wounded all the time. As for Gerard, he fodderized and defeated like 8 Vice-Captain and Captain class Soul Reapers on his own. Only other person to achieve that was Aizen.

The Miracle is just a more complete and stronger version of James Schrift “superstar”. The S was remade by Ywach To recreate the miracle because the miracle wasn’t bestowed by Ywach. I feel like you could create a simple weakness for the miracle: that if somehow Gerard is overwhelmingly winning but has yet to kill his opponents, there's a chance the ability could work IN REVERSE and allow his opponents to pull off a "miracle" instead to defeat him. Sounds dumb at first, but its a pretty reasonable downside for having such a broken effect in the first place.

Kubo mentioned the Cross inside Gerard is the weakness spot. If it get destroyed, Gerard would die permanently.

Two things you missed DBZimran.
1.Hitsugaya's ice did hit Gerard's core because he frozen all the way thru due to him still holding Toshiro in his left hand(ch.672 pg.4-5).
2.Toshiro's ice had nothing to do with Kenpachi being able to knock Gerard over because he'd already broken out of Toshiro's ice before Kenpachi put his fingertips in Gerard's heel(ch.671 pg.15). That was just pure strength.
