Now the American dad buzz has died down it's interesting to see who is still listening to these guys. Happy to say that I am and am hoping for a lot more of the same to follow.

I thought exactly the same! I think it's done on purpose as an hommage to PF because all the tracks of the album follow each other without stoping like Dark Side of the Moon (I believe that's the one where you can listen to the whole album as one song), also there's the moment where you here echoe sounds! Like Echoes by PF, my favorite one of the band!
I was recently turned on to these guys after watching an episode of American Dad, The Majestic. I had to know who was doing the music, and discovered Wax Fang! amazing band!!!! love this album!! "OPEN MY EYES, OPEN MY HEART, OPEN MY MIND"...
I discovered this album 3 months ago, and every single time I listen to it, I feel transported to another dimension. I feel like I am this astronaut, lost in the unknown, out of his comfort zone and travelling through all the different moods a human can experience. Thank you for making great music, truly my favourite album of 2015 by far.
L33TsMusic , Man, I feel the same way. Not kidding, I put this album on, and by the time it is done, I need to literally sit there for a second, and "come back" so to speak... The best band out right now, bar none, bold statement, but I stand by it.....
53 years old, love Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Camel, ELP....this is any of those bands might have made this, these guys parents( who would be my age) right. There is hope for prog rock and the future! 420
Aye just a note for anybody that really loves this album. The vinyl is only 15 dollars on their merch site. And yet i still find myself here listening to it on the ride to work!
absolutely wonderful. this band has revived my heart and mind in a way I never thought could happen. I love losing myself in music and this provides a tether for me the listener to safely swim the vast expanse of my own inner universe

+Wax Fang Hey guys thanks for your great work. Keep it up. Is the part at 26:44 named or is it just called Part 2? I am now addicted to this Lp and your music to and so i cant stop playin it at my piano its the best way to relax for me. Thank you
I never comment on videos, especially music, but my god this is art, and I dont even listen to very much rock. Now I am going to though... Probably getting this on vinyl. Damn, I am still in shock at the beauty.
Everyone is saying they hear Pink Floyd and sure enough I too hear the influences of Pink. It's just that I also hear tones of The Who's "Quadrophenia" influencing them as well. I'd also bet that there are some Meatloaf influences mixed in here as well. I think it's obvious that this band was inspired by all the GREAT dramatic Rock acts we older folks have enjoyed over the years. I'm just happy to find an act from the newer generation that's making music like this for their fans, the same way that us older folks once had our faves doing for us to enjoy. I really hope this act finds the spotlight and the eventual success that they deserve for writing such magical music!!! It's sad to me that this song has been around for a while and didn't really get the profitable recognition that it deserves. I found the song through "American Dad's" use of it in the episode where Jeff disappears. On a side note, I read a great article about why this song was used by the writer of that episode.
it sounds so inspired by pink floyd and david bowie, it's amazing to finally hear a modern band with so much technical skill and real knowledge in making songs mean something through not just the lyrics but the melody too. wax fang belongs in the era of queen, but sadly are under appreciated in a world full of dubstep
There's nothing wrong with dubstep. Like everything else that has ever been at any time in the history of human artistic expression, there's a sea of shit that you have to sift through to find the gold.
Wow, this piece is so hovering ... The first part is crazy, the beginning of the song takes us directly into the bottom ends of the universe. Love it, I consider this album as a single piece, it is so well thought... I think it's my favorite song. Congratulation Wax Fang
Pink Floyd, ELO, David Bowie, The Pixies, and Queen all got together and had an amazing baby. That's the only explanation I can come up with for how awesome this was.

Wrong. Mistakes everywhere. Screwing up the "Pain is our limit" line is the one that somehow irritates me the most, probably because it's one of the most important lines in Part 2.
I like this band! They let me remember that I come from another organ and that I come from a different moment in the creater we all live in Soon peace will guide the planet and love will steer the stars
Listen to this on LSD and hashish it’s amazing. Reminds me of Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and Bowie and Alice Cooper, sometimes the music reminds me of Bauhaus but more this century. My niece turned me onto Wax Fang. She knows I’m an old space cadet and I’d love them, she was right. Hypnotising in its transcendent, epic beauty.
Back again today. I needed a good tranquil stretch of music to start off a long afternoon as this one has all the pieces that make the day just a little better
I don't hear it at all. I hear a lot of "Echoes," Dream Theater, The Mars Volta from their Frances the Mute era and a dash of Bowie but I can't hear Mastodon, and I love Mastodon. Of which track in particular does this remind you?
This is good, but as far as Pink Floyd is concerned, Meddle is way better than Umma Gumma. Close your eyes and see the music. Porcupine Trees is decent as well.
had to stay up for about 27 hours to finish an assignment for college, played this for the vast majority of it on repeat, now it just makes me stressed and sad :(
I love this...it's like Pink Floyd meets Radiohead. Hauntingly enjoyable from beginning to end. Could good music be making a comeback? Please keep recording!
This is quite literally my favorite album of all time. Thank you to American Dad for introducing me to Wax Fang, and thank you to Wax Fang for making such phenomenal music!
It's a space rock opera about The Astronaut who is paddling around through space, he got himself into a black hole, where he has trouble breathing because time does not exist there. As energy is quietly ripping flesh from his bones, he wants to die already but right then he can't believe his eyes - he has transcended. It is then, when the forces of gravity have come apart, shattering into a billion pieces, he feels his body reassembling, can not explain all overwhelming, sudden memories, especially of his wife and children. Suddenly he has a feeling that he is no longer human, leaving his body and opening to the universe. He feels he's getting back near the solar system and lovely as this all has been, he still misses his wife, his children. He needs to find out where his children are, is wondering if they can see him coming and just wants to call them. Sort of. This album has been on my regular playlist for some years now, I've memorized most of the lyrics, but never really bothered to go through them and guess what they might mean. Thank you random reddit thread from four years ago.
That's...a pretty obvious read of the album. Like you very literally just repeated lines from the songs. It reads like a fifth grade book report done by a kid who only read the summary on the back.
Thank you American Dad for using these guys in their soundtrack and bringing me here to listen to this and having my mind blown.
dookiboy
glad im not the only one that listens to both of these bands because of American Dad.
Likewise!
m2350 It's hard to find good bands these days without the record stores, thanks to AD for introducing people to this band!
Mike Guizzetti Could have done without My Morning Jacket though
Andrew Hedrick Why? MMJ is a pretty good band, probably not as good as Wax Fang, but come on, you've got to admit they have some pretty catchy songs.
at 63 years old... this band has brought me back to music..
Total fuchin awesome!!! they are Pink Floyd, Moody Blues and Traffic rolled into one.
Im 77 and it reminds of the years i cant remember......feed your head
@@Teamplayer-bs2hi Are you fuck
With a dash of Rush also :]
This is real music.... Reminds me of Pink Floyd.
@Ja Ja DingDong Respectfully, naw
agreed. especially shine on you crazy diamonds. that stretched feeling that could go on for ever. they managed to perfect it in their own way
So much!
@@Pillar_of_Salt you clearly dont know the floyd to say that
@@Vlad-si9xs Hey man, the comment I was responding to no longer exists. I love Floyd.
i can't belive how new this band is. i honestly thought i was listening to something from the 70's

Yep. If you want another band with a similar effect... check out Black Mountain. Especially their most recent album, IV.
holy shit ... I didn't think they made music like this anymore.
Now the American dad buzz has died down it's interesting to see who is still listening to these guys. Happy to say that I am and am hoping for a lot more of the same to follow.

Same here Greg!
It’s been 5 years since your comment. Funny to see someone say “now that the buzz from x has died down”

Never realised I would end up balls deep in wax fang albums
The build and the crescendo at 28:45 or so tears me apart. It's crushing. I hear so many influences in this music. PLEASE COME OUT WEST!
I wish I could eat that part of the song and absorb it's musical nutrients.

Well thousand thx for this information, Sir. Have a nice day
There's aren't many albums ive listened to beginning to end 20+ times... but this one is special
Excellent sound. Had never heard of this band until today. very very impressive. Keep up the great work, Wax Fang!
Saw these guys in concert in STL yesterday. They're just as awesome live. They deserve a bigger venue.
Magnificent album. Driving down Bardstown Rd, "Astronaut Pt. 3" came on the radio. Bought the vinyl. You should be proud of this one.
Ha, Louisville here too!!!

After 28:40 it gets really difficult not get the chills
I non-sarcastically love the part at the beginning that stops 3 notes into the riff from In The Flesh.
Cried by the end of The Astronaut part 3, when the guitar kicks in. This is a masterpiece.
When i close my eyes. I can feel what they play! Awesome!!! Greetings from Germany ✌
The year is 2021 and this is still blowing my mind
Not even high yet and im still tripping out to this song ! So glad i discovered wax fang, perfect band for psychedelic drugs.
Seriously epic, that opening guitar blew me away.
I have listened to this album so many times and it is amazing each time. I recommend this to any music lover.
just added "buy HQ version of wax fang - astronaut" to my todo list.

A baby raised by Tangerine Dream, maybe?
With Melvins as the influential uncle.
David Bruce With Muse attending the baby shower
Having given it a listen again I have to say the Moody Blues must have been the wacky neighbor.
Tyler The Ultimate Badass radiohead*
Dudes voice is straight up Jello Biafra, but over psychedelic rock. Love everything about it
y'know I think I found a full chill music that actually works perfectly.
this isn't really chill, it just builds and builds until it explodes
Thank you American dad, thank you drugs.

35:05. pure groove, forces of gravity have come apart...
The stars don't want to shine on me
It's just a waste of time and energy
paddling around through space
Then we took it down from this place
It's so hard to breathe in here
Can anybody please hear me out there?
Death from life
Life from death
Time does not existDeath is our limit
Time years is a lie
Poisoning our minds
Hanna lead only me into the unknown
Hanna leave quietly let me please go home
All that has and always will be
Memories/Fantasies all you need
Oh am, am I, am I dieing?
Please kill me
Break from, to, the light
We will kill the night
Energy tearing into me and announce my sorrow
Energy scattering into me it fills my heart up
I can't believe my eyes
This is madness
Rise from the ashes
From the abysall
I've transcended
Darkness let me out
Across the plane of no escape
Forces of gravity have come apart,
Come apartShattering into a billion pieces,
Somehow my mind is sharp as a knife
Is this really happening?
I feel my body reassembling
When will this illusion end?
I miss my wife, I miss my children
Fire and ice flow through my veins,
Memories, they flood my brain
Synapses are firing at a rate
Which I cannot explain
Suddenly I have a feeling
That I am no longer human,
I can't tell where my skin ends
And the space around me, it begins
No need to breathe,
No need to eat,
No need to sleep,
I believe that I'm becoming alive with atoms of life
And now I've got to open my eyes,
Open my mind, open my heart, open everything I've got up to the divine, to the universe inside
Is this really happening?
I feel our solar system nearing
Lovely as all this has been
I miss my wife, I miss my children
I miss my wife and I miss my children.
Miss my wife and I miss my children
From the abyss, I'm dead, I'm risen,
I've got to find out... my children...
Permission to go...
Find out...
See...
Tell them I'm coming,
Tell them I'm coming,
Tell them I'm coming, coming, coming...
Don't think it's quite right?
'Can't wait to get down from this place`
What really happened to MAJOR TOM.
'Hurtling around through space'...
Wrong. Mistakes everywhere. Screwing up the "Pain is our limit" line is the one that somehow irritates me the most, probably because it's one of the most important lines in Part 2.
Listened to the full thing and it didn't even feel like 10 minutes. That's how good it was.
I like this band! They let me remember that I come from another organ and that I come from a different moment in the creater we all live in
Soon peace will guide the planet and love will steer the stars
Now, this is what good headphones were made for! Bravo...
Listen to this on LSD and hashish it’s amazing. Reminds me of Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and Bowie and Alice Cooper, sometimes the music reminds me of Bauhaus but more this century. Holy wow. This is one of the best bands I've heard in quite some time.
Back again today. I needed a good tranquil stretch of music to start off a long afternoon as this one has all the pieces that make the day just a little better
This band is like the mars volta got together with floyd thats a good thought.
the first song is very mastodon inspired, love it
can you give me a mastodon's song? I want to discover this group but I don't know how
@@victordubois5648 start listening to the album 'once more around the sun' and then go backwards from there down the discography
I don't hear it at all. I hear a lot of "Echoes," Dream Theater, The Mars Volta from their Frances the Mute era and a dash of Bowie but I can't hear Mastodon, and I love Mastodon. Of which track in particular does this remind you?
The bass line at 20:21 - 20:45 is the best.
This reminds me of Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Godspeed and The Mars Volta circa Frances the Mute, especially the final movement in Cassandra Gemini. The saxophones in particular.
I get chills everytime I listen to this masterpiece. Thank you for the beautiful music. ❤
I can't wait to play their whole discography in my car tomorrow. New Fav band....
Good trance rock. Dreamy, but gritty enough to create a discrete space.
This reminds me so much of Rushs 2112. I love long story songs like this
Dang I'm glad I finally checked you guys out
Opening track is that of heaven man. Perfection.
My favorite part was from 0:00-40:26
how original
Sweet!! Mine too!!!
Truth the oldest thing there is.
The T.C. ...And the rarest.
I disliked 40:26
I can't help raising my hands and screaming when it gets to 39:40 because I feel like I'm an angry space ghost as well.
"Science is a lie", I love it! "Is this all there is?". I love the groove during the last part, as well!
It's "Time is yet a lie." Not "Science is a lie."
Words cannot express how happy this makes me

I love it!
Avant guardian Angel Dust is my all time favourite. Ever ❤️
Just realized 27:45 is where they looked at the good memories of Jeff's and around 13:00 is where Sinbad starts fighting.
