I wish Chumbucket could've lived. He kicked a lot of ass in this game and he could have made a great friend and sidekick for Max.

Honestly, people may complain but this is a pretty accurate ending for a Mad Max game in relationship with the movies

At the end of the game it says it "rewinds time" for you, as in the wasteland becomes your playground so players can complete anything they haven't done yet. In the story, Chumbucket and Hope still die :(

Seeing these people bitch about this ending makes me think they've never seen the movies before, I mean the whole point of him is that he's gone MAD, hence the name MAD FUCKING MAX he has and always will be a fucking loner, who suffers tragedies from trusting and getting close to someone, he lost his shit after Glory and Hope died from Scrotus, and detested Chum for blabbing about where they were hiding, and he did tell him twice to get the fuck off the car but like chum said, he'd gladly die with the car instead. The devs catered to the lore of Mad Max rather than the bullshit fairy tale ending people seem so adamant about these days. Like for fuck sake, it's a wasteland, when you hear shit about sadness, tragedy, and dispair through out the game they fucking mean it, only til the end do some players actually realize that out in the wasteland there's no peaceful endings to things, it's all chaos and death and sadness.
Perfect Mad Max ending. Loses everything, but keeps moving on.
Looking back at this fight, I think it would have been cooler if the Earth Mover hadn't required the Opus to fall off the cliff, but the interceptor came out anyways.
The final battle could have been the Interceptor vs the Magnum opus. Imagine how amazing that would have been

Am I the only one who likes the ending? Mad Max is not set in a world of fairy-tales and happy endings. Therefore, it would only make sense to have everything amount to nothing; to have everything both Max and the player worked hard for set the both of them all the way back at square one. It's like Max says at one point in the game:
"We used to have loss. But we also had hope. Now we only have loss."

No its an awful ending to an awful game. This is one of the worst and LAZIEST written stories ever in a video game despite really solid gameplay mechanics. The only thing that totally ruins the game is one you complete all the side missions and activities, nothing respawns. No bad guys, no chasing down patrols, nothing. The story is weak where its just getting revenge on the guy who stole your car, they create ANOTHER wife and kid max runs into (i counted, he literally met them 4 times total throughout the game, this is inculding their death scene) So then after they die max is fueled with rage to finally kill this car theif, which after all this time with Chum Bucket selflessly helping him out and trying to be a good person, you kill him for NO REASON and destroy the car that we were all supposed to enjoy (its literally called the Magnum Opus, the cream of the crop, the best of the best, the old car doesnt fucking matter then.) Just to have a lazy cliche boss fight with the villains character having no depth to him other than hes evil, he stole your car, and as an added bonus, he killed some acquaintances you just met. Do not buy this game. If you get it for a dollar and want to drive around in a cool car, then ya, get this game, but never ever pay more than a dollar for this game.

@@clutch44444 eh i mean enjoy it, and heres the thing i should add, the journey to the end was AWESOME. But the ending was just so absolutely bad, in my opinion, that it RUINED the whole game. Gameplay mechanics are great, but the shoehorned in love interest, i counted, you meet her and the brat a total of 4 times before they are killed and they are only killed to remotivate max to kill the bad guy, which at this point Magnum Opus is SO MUCH COOLER than the challenger why bother? Plus the little igor dude who worships you, you just straight MURDER him to try and kill the bad guy, which is pointless as the bad guy lives.

Max is ruthless that's why he's called Mad Max that's how it is. Max's world isn't sunshine and roses, the game ended like that because if it ended in a happy way it wouldn't be called Mad Max
Am I the only one who doesn't think chums death was Maxs fault? I mean Max told him to get off the car and if Chum wasn't so obsessive over the Opus he would have lived.
EDIT: I have changed my mind. The ending would be much better if Max didn't wreck the Opus and instead used it to beat Scrotus and take the Interceptor back. I'm saying this because a certain asshole is treating me like shit because of my comment.

Yes, the final boss fight isnt that spectacular, BUT all the other positive aspects of this game make more than up for that!!
Mad Max is the best suprise of this year with a TON of replayvalue and bang for your buck!

Very underrated game. I enjoyed it very much.
So mad that chumbucket died, he was pretty much the best character.
But now that I read the comments I forgot this was a prequel to Fury Road so really chumbucket dying is the only real ending and then Max getting his car back and basically driving it into the beginning of Fury Road.

Btw i got EVERY fucking landscape turn 0 Menace there is nothing to do for me anymore.. and i dont give a shit about achievements. i had the most powerfull armor (i tought the ending would be a one on one battle against scrotus in the arena of Gastown to prove that you are the Legend and then as we all know max he would dissapear in the dust of the Desert or some shit like that..

For Mad Max being a FIRST game, and a movie license "tie in" game title at that, i say its a pretty damn good one!
Appreciate the game for what it IS, not for what it COULD/SHOULD have been...By that logic MGS5 should have gotten a ton of shit too, but somehow, magically, it didnt...Biased fanboy ratings much?
(And yes, i WAS/AM a long time MGS fan myself, but to call MGS5 the best MGS in the series, is a disgrace to MGS1, MGS3 and MGS4)

And i agree, the mad max game felt very authentic to the franchise.
It actually reminded me of The Road Warrior more than it did Fury Road. And for that i was thankful.
The car battles in the game are awesome (specially in first person mode). And thats what matters really.
Max is a driver, The Road Warrior. And i thought the road battles in the game looked and felt epic.
Same as you i am also a long time M,G,S, fan, but not bothered even buying MGS 5. Saw a video and aside from the end boss battle i thought it looked like more of the same. Long live M,G,S, one.

Perhaps you should have upgraded the opus before this mission. Basic wheels, no grinders, tiny ram, tiny exhaust, almost no armor, level 3 harpoon. Honestly I was that far in the upgrade process before leaving Jeet's territory. (Just saying)
They rushed so they could get the cutscenes and endings out as fast as possible instead of actually enjoying the game

I agree with some of the people here.. You should have gotten more car upgrades, how can you play this game through to the end without a decent upgrade to your car? You would have had better armor and you wouldn't have had to stop and get repairs every time your car got beat up...

Josh even though you help out and free each area and it shows how the characters appreciate what you do and the forts change when you get each project, and the hordes dont show up as much or at all
I have already played many games but l didn't ever play the action game like this game I learnt two lessons from this game.1:the thing which u want u can't get by sitting idle rather we should work hard then we Will taste the fruit of our hard working like max got v8 engine by doing much hard work And 2nd one is: we should never lose hope

I finished the game with ALL Upgrades and everything at 100%. Scrotus' Escort stood no chance. Their Cars were all armored, but still one hit for the level max Thunderpoon. ... and they all fell... one by one!
I guess it's good to know you can do the end game without doing anything else in the game and not upgrading anything with the most basic car and Max. Is it?

the thing that developed the most during the game was the car, the 2nd being max (he actually gave a fuck about hope and glory) I don't care about what anyone says about this being a "max-esque" ending. Good stories include some kind of development or change. and the end of the game the car and max are the same, and the car you spent the entire game building was tossed aside for no reason (because scrotus just comes back anyway, and also you could have just used a thunderstick to knock the fucking truck off the cliff).. Just finished the game a few minutes ago. I feel robbed. worth the 20 bucks on steam i guess, but definitely not 60

I have a max level harpoon, thunderclap, spikes, wheels, jacket, and armored knuckles, and even got all side missions done...I am yet to beat the gas town race
TheRedFlame use light armor on your car . Armor slows you down. And spam the thunder poons when in range without aiming.

Max isn't a savior. He survives above all else, which is why he's made it this far. Yeah, that makes him an asshole, but I'm glad some games are brave to have you play as flawed people.

Well.. Max is a traitor even he told chumbucket to get off.. and why is Chumbucket obsessed on the magnum opus? because he worked hard for it and they been through alot like bestfriends and i think Max never cared about the magnum opus and chumbucket but good game though and a sad ending.
Chumbucket has this crazy Car religion and The Magnum Opus is some holy shit from Angel Combust thingy and Mad Max is the holy driver thing of Magnum Opus.
