The only thing I don’t want is bosses like in poe1. I just hate farming bosses in poe1 because of all the extra animations you have to see everytime. Like the sirus animations before the fight. Elder when you oneshot him instantly but then have to kill monster portals for a minute?! Shaper where you have to kill 4 regular bosses and his phases are you running through trash mobs. I just don’t think it’s good design. Now the pirates that have phases where you don’t really have to dodge but also can’t hit. It’s just wasted time. And the first time encountering them it’s no issue but doing it 100 times is just soooo annoying. Atziri where actually fighting her takes 10% of the fight and the rest is killing monster that heal her? It’s so outdated. I Love everything else about poe1 but farming bosses is absolutely horrible. I get that a hardcore audience may like exploring the map like dark souls but for this genre I just want a marker leading me to the objective so I can get through the campaign. @@steel5897 It's not about not liking the genre, it's that it's an entirely different genre and cross-mixing could lead to changes fans of either genre ending up not happy with
@@steel5897 Souls games cater to the 1% crowd. In poe 1 you can at least counter this with gear and following build guides. By making it more catered to the 1% what will that means for 99% of people? Bosses reset now, so if you can't beat the boss you just quit and never come back?
@@Goremize Souls games supposedly cater to the 1% yet it's one of the most popular and mainstream franchises IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. You see, what you're saying and what the Souls franchise is are mutually exclusive, far more than just "the 1%" are playing Elden Ring for example.
I'm reminded of tears of the Kingdom where it has the souls like system of fake difficult curve meaning bosses are either way to long and are so tedious they just piss you off that you wasted your time, or they go down so fast that what ever mechanism you spent years working on is just nuked though with out any concerns. Because most of the fights you showed reminded me of Kitava and why the fight is just so fucking boring. It devolves in this constant mindless nuke spans that has less of a coherence the TV static.
I really like they namedropped "soulslike mechanics" because maybe this means that the speed we see throughout these footages arent going to be so much faster unlike in PoE 1 where you move/hit incredibly fast compared to the campaign
At launch, it'll fall somewhere in between. Not as slow as most of what we've seen so far, but not map blasting speed of PoE1. I'm guessing at a characters very fastest, it'll be at 40% the speed of a fast character in PoE1. However, that could be very different 3 or 4 years from now. As others have mentioned, PoE1 started with slower movement too. That being said, I don't think it'll ever be as fast as PoE1.
@@weirdo911aw GGG has multiple times said they regret how fast PoE1 got and that it's impossible to walk all of that back, it's impossible to design interesting combat in PoE1 BECAUSE of how fast it is. PoE2 is their chance to start from scratch and not make the same mistakes. It absolutely will never be as fast as PoE1. PoE1 is so fast that it doesn't even HAVE combat outside the major bosses and even then they had to abuse stuff like immunity phases to even get players to dodge stuff. The definition of action combat requires some back and forth interaction to happen between players and enemies, that's where the reaction skill based stuff and all the pattern recognition lies, that is ACTION COMBAT, which did not happen outside bosses in PoE1 because enemies died before they could even DO anything. PoE2 will have actual combat, it won't be a glorified clicking game.
@@steel5897 imagine hating on the game that made poe2 possible. if youre looking for interesting combat, historically arpg's were not where you started. the main pull of an ARPG is its loot and system design. Gameplay focus was secondary. it's good that GGG is exploring a more gameplay focus for POE2 while keeping many of the original ARPG philosophy. Both can be good. POE1 is still very fun (still pulling 200k concurrently after 10-ish years... and thats only on steam) and the zoom-zoom playstyle is valid. The soulslike gameplay is also valid and exciting. Both can be good.
I really love the creativity and passion that has gone into the boss designs in Path of Exile 2. You can genuinely feel the unique personalities of the bosses during the fight, and the fact that you have to overcome them in a single attempt adds to the challenge and makes each encounter feel special and rewarding. However, this is also why the death animations stand out, but not in a good way. They feel somewhat lackluster and disconnected from the well-defined character of the boss leading up to that moment. It’s like a sudden, jarring cut from an intense and immersive battle to a generic 'BossDeathAnimation_01' file. This abrupt shift can spoil the sense of accomplishment and respect you’ve built for your foe, leaving you with a feeling of, 'Wait, that's it?' I think it would be amazing if the bosses could retain some of their personality even in their final moments. Maybe they could attempt one last attack that misfires as they break apart, or perhaps a final, desperate lunge at the player. Anything that shows they're still clinging to their purpose, instead of an instant, complete loss of focus. This would preserve the intensity of the fight and make the victory feel even more satisfying.
If it’s just a visual then sure that’d be cool, but it’d really suck if you finally kill a boss and they pull a new move out of their ass and kill you.
@@billjohnson6863 okay but it'd be a hilarious one time gag to pull if they just made a bunch of attacks that just couldn't kill you to scare the player post death, make them technically dodgeable but really bullshit just so people think they really have to dodge it.
Don't like the boss reseting idea. Doesn't belong in my opinion. And I don't like souls games, they are obnoxious for the most part and nothing but prolonging gameplay by killing you until you learn a pattern that you clearly don't know the first time you play it. I don't find anything actually challenging about it. Feels more like a memory game than actual skill. Each to their own in the end, but yeah this does not belong in poe2. It deviates from the og formula quite a bit. I want interesting boss fights does not mean I want to learn that boss so well I MUST do them in one go. This stems from all the wank3rs saying poe is too easy and dumbed down over the years. Yes, I am sure beating the game on a meta build that is op and you copied online is easy. Kinda defies the purpose of the game to begin with. And all this talk if difficulty is what has made PoE1 so horrid in the balancing department. A handfull of builds have an easy time, another handful get challenged but manage, and then another 100 builds can't do squat because the skills selected simply suck. I hope PoE2 doesn't repeat this, and boss resets seem to push this result even more. Its tiring seeing them build a meta Simulator. Enough already. Just let us be creative with builds. You give so many choices but 70% of them suck. It's the illusion of choice. And then a few seasons later all of a sudden a crap build you had is demolishing everything because they remembered to work on it and its the meta for this season. Perfect proof that its not the build at fault, but the design of the game. Went on a rant, but as awesome as poe2 is looking I'm not going to sit here and eat whatever they hand me and praise it because of bias like 90% of the comments in here that will literally praise anything poe2 does at this point.
Well I'm one of the ones that has always wanted a more tactile feel to an ARPG. All of them feel and play like interactable spreadsheets and while theory crafting is fun it leads to the exact issue you are complaining about. Builds that can't be min maxed to the extent others can. When actual reflex based gameplay is thrown in it makes the game actually feel like how you play it matters, not just what you select in its sea of skills where only the best theory crafts can win. This games sounds like it will cater to both methods and I think its refreshing.
mate, most people are praising it because they want this. you are in the minority. I liked early poe and my desire during that time for a game I would love was more depth mechanical play. Building a character had plenty of depth but gameplay itself was flat outside of positioning and decision making and soon after a4 got released the vast majority of the game became entirely an exercise in patience. also? yes? all video games, all sports, all instruments are all "memory games" and execution tests lol. The only games that miss this pattern are puzzle games but even then they're largely about remembering how past concepts were introduced and reapplying them. double also, creativity only exists within constraints, without constraints on what can be good making a "build" ceases to lose all meaning, because everything can work. sorry you had to find these things out before your time.
@@jonpro9637 i sure hope so. With regards to theory crafting, I find that again in poe 1 they meta focus too much. Like the example I made. I mean, I've been playing since 2013 and made over 100 builds since then. Not counting the same builds that i made over and over again until they somewhat worked. In all that time i think i ended up making like 5 actual end game builds? Lets say half those builds i was learning. But even so as i mentioned i am not counting the amount of times i worked on existing ideas refined each time. 5? Really? And as i was saying in my example, something like 2 of those simply started working when they reworked the skill or buffed it. I was literally playing the same build (standard player as well as league) and now all of a sudden its melting everything. This is very annoying. We have so many choices only to find out that most don't work. This is the whole identity of poe. Its the basis of that wacky passive tree everyone sees and runs away yet was the very thing that amazed me all the way back 10 years ago. They add new build and skill reworks, they are too strong, they balance the game around those, a handful of struggling already builds become utterly useless, then some day they remember to buff them as well, now they are too strong, rebalance again, rinse repeat. Feels like the game is playing me, not me playing the game. As for the skill part you mentioned. I agree 100%. When I ask for builds that work i don't mean one shotting this map and the next with one click ofc. But if a skill is so unrevised that it takes you 20 mins to kill a boss something aint right. If its your first time sure, there might be things to learn. But 10 years 5k hours minimum and 100 builds later this is disastrous. And again, 2 seasons later they revise said skill and it melts things. This for me is a big issue. If i have to play a boss for 5 mins max to kill them i am ok with it. If i have to fight a boss for 20mins because somehow its like i am fighting with a twig for a sword then i need to dodge around and avoid for much longer. It becomes annoying, and if this happens in poe2 as well then the time for a single mistake is prolonged. Now that single mistake means you do it again from the start. I mean this might not be the case and I might be worried about nothing, i hope so. But just as i can trust that ggg can create interesting boss fights after all these years and i expect their experience to deliver something amazing in that regard, i also expect that same track record to have bad balancing. I sure hope I am wrong because I can't wait for this game.

@@steel5897 lol, i am not alone, its called subjective taste. Maybe you should learn about it before growing up and saying childish things. For me, at least, that means there will be some bosses that I will simply never be able to defeat. It's obviously your prerogative to make that design decision, but know that you are alienating a portion of your existing PoE player base by doing so.
i mean, you can overlevel your character and then try again or smth. but bosses resetting after a failed attempt is pretty much in any big ARPG these days

I've been disappointed by sequels too many times recently (OW2, PD3 being the biggest culprits) so I still have a little trepidation with my hype for this game, but especially after the Settlers league, I have faith that GGG will knock it out of the park!
I have a Funny feeling about this, Past experiences tells me if someone finds a way to just completely 1 shot a boss that GGG will absolutely find a way to either A buff the boss or B nerf the player interaction. But guess what ladies and gents either way it Punish the casual player or even the mid player. We have seen it with there reworks of the Acts so far making the slog even more a slog, Nerfing builds rather than interactions between unique items. I want POE2 to draw me in but this bad feeling just makes me question what If you know.
Exactly, no one plays path of exile for the bosses. There's a reason most builds do so much damage that boss phases get skipped. Because if you have to do the phases its just constant mechanics that can one shot you no matter how tanky you make yourself. They only know how to design bosses that people want to skip the mechanics of.

They really are making the best ARPG ever. Even if it isn't the best at launch, they will just keep working on it.
It's one of the things that reeeeally has me interested in PoE 2, because it's not just breaking ground as a sequel. From the game sytems, mechanic, animations, visuals, physics, art, it's shaping up to break ground on the entire ARPG front. The dynamic water we've seen in act 4 (or 3?) alone have me excited because i genuinely haven't seen anything like it in games before.
Let's hope there will be no eternal bugs and issues, like daily server lag, can't open portal or invisible projectiles instantly killing your character, torturing PoE since beta.

I really hope this changes in poe2 when we have over 100 bosses.

I disagree. Crate Entertainment puts out a FANTASTIC game and still is pumping content out even after Grim Dawn was released in 2016. Constant dev updates, and a new expansion coming. THEY were and are the pinnacle of the genre for me at least. I never played POE, but am so so excited about POE 2. I just wish more people would give Grim Dawn and Crate Ent. the recognition they deserve.
@diversitycandle5708 I enjoyed grim for a bit but its not really multiplayer friendly and it's too many skills with vague descriptions. Plus it's annoying trying to figure out where to go in the campaign. I get that a hardcore audience may like exploring the map like dark souls but for this genre I just want a marker leading me to the objective so I can get through the campaign. Otherwise it's a nice game. Last epoch has plenty of skill variety without needing outside guides and no need to constantly check the map to get through the story.

I did spend 30 bucks on the game this league, because I crossed the 300 hour mark and that's when I will pay 30 for any game I play to support the devs.
That to be said, I'm not sure you're a real PoE player. Cuz if you were, you wouldn't say crafting and maps first, you'd say *premium tab for selling shit* first. That is the true QoL increase, maps and currency tabs are fun, but nowhere near as useful.

path of exile 2 will be more addicting than hardcore drugs
I really hope they make a boss who resembles the Prokel 1v1 Bossfight from Lost Ark and maybe even tops it!
I really like they namedropped "soulslike mechanics" because maybe this means that the speed we see throughout these footages arent going to be so much faster unlike in PoE 1 where you move/hit incredibly fast compared to the campaign
you have to realize this is the campaign and not the endgame for poe2. poe1 was this slow during its first year.
we can't really know how things are going to be in the future, poe1 started slow too
At launch, it'll fall somewhere in between.
GGG is using the recombinator, but it always choses the good modifiers ~
You saw the d4 presentation where they talked about bosses is Bessel of hatred and showed a boring worm? Yeah here we have the real deal 😂😂😂
So, this video is an direct attack to Diablo 4 and that mediocre staff that blizzards have.
I love it.
This abrupt shift can spoil the sense of accomplishment and respect you’ve built for your foe, leaving you with a feeling of, 'Wait, that's it?'
I think it would be amazing if the bosses could retain some of their personality even in their final moments.
Some bosses have a death animation like that. For example the one in the witch showcase.
@@billjohnson6863 okay but it'd be a hilarious one time gag to pull if they just made a bunch of attacks that just couldn't kill you to scare the player post death, make them technically dodgeable but really bullshit just so people think they really have to dodge it.
Some of the more important bosses do have that. I think it's a good balance.
This is so BS , why tf does the game have to drop when my studies are ongoing and i have to travel. :( This looks soo good
Don't like the boss reseting idea.
If you don't like souls games you have terrible taste in video games and your opinion is promptly discarded. The rest sounds like scrubposting too.

@@steel5897 lol, i am not alone, its called subjective taste. Maybe you should learn about it before growing up and saying childish things. It's obviously your prerogative to make that design decision, but know that you are alienating a portion of your existing PoE player base by doing so.

It's a trade-sim for RMTers. Who cares?
