Thank you for this. The tip about using 2 vice grips to provide some slack in the cable was the key to getting this project completed for me. Much appreciated.
Hello, thank u for posting a video. How do you know it is a regulator or the window motor? Dealer told me its a regulator. Wish you were in south florida. 2012 kia optima sx.
I have a hyundai elantra and every window regulator i see has the 2pin connector mine has the 5 pin connector do you know by chance where i can find this one (5pin)
@@PowerUpAuto I got the gear in. you weren't kidding. What a mission! But with your vids I saved $450 + tax from the dealer. Now, i just need to do 3 more.....maybe i'll wait until winter. or whatever winter Florida gives me, haha! Thanks again.
Did you ever figure out the back door gear size? I need all 4 unfortunately. I see you have the 4 pack on website. Are those 4 of the front ones only? 2 front 2 back?
I don't think so. I've had to replace these in multiple cars. I think I've done 4 now and every time it shreds the gear and just spins freely when you use the window switch.
I initially started by doing that to keep the spool in place before attaching the motor. Now I'm able to wind the spool and insert the window motor to hold it in place.
Is it possible to buy the panel with the new gear already installed? If so how do you get it? call a local dealer or Kia directly to get the part? I have a 2016 Kia Optima. Thank you.
@@PowerUpAuto I've been watching your videos because the teeth went bad (during the dealer doing service believe it or not) and searching this it seems a huge issue with these from 2016-2021 or 2020 I think and Kai doesn't want to do anything about it and the dealer wants $450. Even with the full panel its cheaper. Trying to figure out if its worth hours trying to put just the gear back in or spring and get the panel. I see you have the gears for a good price on your site. are these updated gears that dont wear the teeth as quickly? In one of your videos you had a panel with a blue gear, are those the better ones? Thank you and great videos.
this is thing is a total POS. I've had to replace all 4 window regulators and now the front 2 need to be replaced again. Im so fed up with this crap. Cheap parts and a dumb design.

The 2012 is a different video. It is your regulator, the motors don’t go bad.
is the 2014 kia optima drivers window regulator compatible with 2014 sonata window regulator
not at all

you shouldn't need the motor, just the regulator
@@PowerUpAuto so the regulator w/o the motor should be fine
@@armaniiarmii8126 correct. the motors are seldom a problem
@@PowerUpAuto Thanks man! I was losing my mind trying to find an exact match with the motor lol definitely subscribing!
I have bent the cables by doing this wrong and trying it with a motor. How do I straighten the cable it’s almost unusable now
That happens once in a while. You will need to replace the regulator at this point. Can not straighten the cables.
how did you pop off the panel near the top? For me, seems as though the two washers(?) near the top that go to where the glass is, wont pop off.
Got it. Forgot to lower the window and take out the screws.
slightly lift it up and then off

2016-2021. All doors are the same gear
Does anyone know if this gear damage would cause the drivers side 30amp fuse to blow sometimes. Thanks.

Awesome video man thank you
What was the purpose of the black gorilla tape?
I initially started by doing that to keep the spool in place before attaching the motor. Now I'm able to wind the spool and insert the window motor to hold it in place.
Is it possible le without tape.

Dealer, Amazon, Ebay. BUT, they are expensive

@@nonya13 They are white gears. No idea how long they will last but they seem to be of good quality.
Where do you get the gear for a 2012 optima?
replacement gear only fit 2016-2021. For the older Optima you'll be changing the regulator or motor
Thanks

But now you know how to replace just the GEAR inside the window regulator. MUCH less expensive.
