  • The proposed capital of the proposed Apa State, Otukpo is a city marked by a haze of red dust and brown roofs, boldly wears the scraps of its old glories.
The Otukpo Railway Station, once a bubbling station operating three train services- Kano, Jos and Maiduguri, now lies in ruins.
The Enugu roundabout at the entry of the town from Abuja, one of the largest in the the country, can also pass for one of the worst on the planet, as its laterite has been completely washed away by rain.
What about the storied Otukpo rice mill? It is now a shadow of its former self. The city's famous burnt bricks factory now lies comatose.

Watching this documentary highlighted the problem with Nigerian mindset. How she so proud to count all the people that has come from otukpo yet they can't seem to come together and build the place they call home. What actually would happened if Nigeria had no government at all? These people won't know how to lead, coordinate and organise themselves for a common goal. How difficult can it be to construct a road and plant trees for heaven sake? Not rocket science surely. If anything l think otukpo is a case study of the state of leadership or the lack of leadership in Nigeria. Thank you.

This is so pathetic. The Tiv governors n corrupt Idoma leaders doesn't care about the Idoma people. It's as if they don't exist in Benue State.
May God Almighty grant the Idoma people the right leaders that will carry everyone along... Amen 🙏

So so sad a few years ago I use to take train from makurdi to Otukpa. I was telling my son, how soon Nigeria became a shadow of its self.Because of corruption with so much impunity.there can never be development were Leaders are so greedy with no empathy. And the people continue to vote the same group of Old wicked people i pray we will see a better Nigeria 🇳🇬 again in our life time.

Why do idoma answer Igbo names? I’m an Igbo girl and I’m confused how this is possible, I’m ashamed I don’t know anything about igbo’s brothers

I did my NYSC in this state.Aside the capital all other towns are etremely poorly developed.bad roads,no water, just forget power supply.A local government headquarters since 1979 not connected to the national grid(2002)I hope they are connected now..notable people like George Akume, David Mark Patrick ,Abba Moro.,Audu Innocent Ogbeh are from this state.I started appreciating other governors that I called thieves after visiting Benue.

What of the township roads? The Tiv led government are just fu..ing bad. There's no equitable distribution of social amenities in Benue state it's so sympathetic.

The story was one sided. Are there no other modern buildings except the dilapidated ones? On the other side, our leaders, both past and present failed woefully. OTUKPO indeed, needs a lot of work. Thank you very much for airing this.
