Imagine it: the metalheads, working their day jobs. Their coworker asks about their weekend plans. They tell them they're going to a concert for an idol band. They then go on a passionate rant about why franchouchou is amazing and they're actually super metal trust me just listen.
“From Mitsuse Pass to Tawarazaka. Drop by to see me, even in hell” I thought a lot about that part of the song after watching her backstory EDIT For context: Mitsuse Pass is a mountain pass which was one of the busiest points of travel between Hizen (now Saga) prefecture and Chikuzen (now Fukuoka) prefecture. Tawarazaka is a former guard station between what is now Saga and Nagasaki prefectures which marked the official line between the daimyo-held lands of Hizen and the imperial controlled port of Nagasaki, these two points are often considered two of the "four corners" of Saga prefecture. Yugiri told Kiichi to go through Mitsuse Pass and take a boat from Hakata to Nagasaki in order to leave Saga
To be fair, I'd actually chalk that up to being intentional: Season 1 is while they're still rough and learning what to do so... choppier more rigid animation is actually a good way to convey that (Spider-verse somewhat did this too) Season 2 they're more well versed and more coordinated.
“From Mitsuse Pass to Tawarazaka. I still don't really feel like they were ever not friends. Sure, Itou was supposed to keep an eye out for any detractors, but until Yugiri started helping Kiichi gain traction, he was more or less seen as a hopeless case or an annoyance even. Not saying what Yugiri did was bad, but more or less a just unfortunate set of circumstances. They were really close, and close friends don't always have to share the exact same ideals.
If the afterlife does exist in this anime, then why don't the Zombies never remember their time in the afterlife. Most likely their price for coming back to life.
they were still friends, Itou never wanted to hurt Kiichi but it was his duty to prevent a rebellion. also I don't really see it as the afterlife but as Yuugiri dreaming about everyone from that time which is why they're doing the choreography dance moves.
If you go back and focus on Tae in all the previous performances, even going back to season one, you can see a really big improvement in her dancing skills. In Sakura’s arc at the end of season 1 we even saw that she painstakingly trained Tae to follow a beat and do dance moves, and you can see her motor skills improve to the point that she can dance perfectly with everyone else, and even play the drumset
I cannot express enough how good this story arc was. Let alone the excitement I had when I saw all of my girls in the Meiji-era coats and hats. Probably my favorite song from the series and I was glad it was incorporated into the story after the music video short. That and after Suisei’s beautiful take on the song.
Literally Yugiri is a queen, so self-less! Without her, saga wouldn’t even be a thing. I already loved her but watching this episode made me love her even more~
@@SodapopKevin Yeah, I know. That's why I was saying they should have used both of them more often (at least in my opinion). Could have given the best voices a second song as well.

I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t use a new song but some people didn’t know this one existed because it was only on the album. It’s also a bop so it only makes sense to use it.
i didnt know about this song til the episode so it was new to me :P also they got almost all their songs on spotify even TV sizes of the ones in season 2
I initially thought Zombie Land, as some joke but man was I wrong. First the Music, then the Characters and then they're fully fleshed out. And then it comes together so complex and beautiful. I'm glad I didn't judge it on my first impressions.
*Voice Director:* "...You, uh...You don't have to sing it so seductively..." *Yugiri's voice actress:* "What's that? Crank up the seductiveness? You got it!"
With this he concludes that each song for each of the Zombie girls sing separately was chosen very well according to their personality and time: Saki Nikaido: (Tokkou Dance) A 90s hard rock song. Lily Hosikawa: (To my Dearest) A Disney-like ballad song. Ai Mizuno: (Mezame Returner) A 2000s style pop song. Junko Konno: (Gekkou Survive) A metal song in the style of the 80s. Sakura Minamoto (Yomigaere) A pop song in the style of the late 2000s Yugiri (Saga jihen) A 1920s Jazz song played by a big band (Musical style that was the closest chronologically to her who died in 1882) with a traditional shamizen [obviously an instrument of the time] start.

Many idol anime do have good compelling stories, it's just that people dismiss them because of the idol aspect.
