You mean everyone have their own lines to sing? Then yes. Because in real life and anime idol group everyone just bunch up and sing together, sounds really dull tbh.

they did an amazing job of hiding junko's voice, when she jumped in i was floored by just how powerful her voice is. she's definitely worthy of the title of legendary showa idol

I love all their voices.. but junko's deep voice pierced me, Yugiri's voice got me loving her. In short, Im such a sucker for good deep singing voices.
My favourite part of this show is that none of them lose their personalities when they sing. Like with Love! Live! They kinda just flip a switch and everything stops except for their singing, but with Zombieland Saga all of their personalities are still there and they all feel really defined vs being blended together when the animation switches to motion capture.
Tbh, I am not sure what you were watching, because this is the whole point of idol shows. Every idol show has that. All of them have songs that put certain characters in the spotlight and showcase their personality in the song. At the same time, you have other characters just being the background and not contributing with their character at all, like in this case Lily, Yugiri, Sakura and Saki. This is by the way not a criticism of this show in particular. It is just what you expect from an idol show. I feel, this is just the first idol show a lot of people watched for a bit more than the first few episodes since it has a very unique start that more people are also getting behind the whole idea of an idol show. Because let's be honest, after episode 3 or 4, this was following the exact same formula. And just to be clear, I have no problem with that.

Now, don't get me wrong I love Love Live! and I'm a huge fan of this franchise but for me none of their idol groups or series' has ever topped Zombieland Saga (ESPECIALLY when it comes to plot and music... Zombieland Saga's music is just my cup of tea)... Zombieland Saga is still far the best idol anime I've ever watched... The best idol anime ever made in my humblest opinion... And one of the reason to that is what this guy commented... He is right! What makes Franchouchou (as a group) so good compared to Muse, Aquors and all the other Love Live! idol groups is that they never lose their unique personalities and individualities even whilst performing the same song and choreo... In Love Live! Whenever they dance, they all look the same.. Their body movements looks copy-pasted but with different hair, different eyes, and different outfit styles. But there's no difference in the way that they move... Zombieland Saga on the other hand, the members of Franchouchou are still different from each other SPECIFICALLY in the way that they move, sing, and dance when performing as a group... Let's just ignore the horrible CGI because that's the only thing I genuinely dislike from this anime. If you look closely... You would notice the following: Yugiri still dances femininely, maturely, and seductively.. and that's because she was an Oiran in her previous life... Lily dances energetically and cutesy like a happy go lucky child since she was literally a child actress in her previous life... Saki moves and dance tomboyishly with a very wide and aggressive movements compared to the other members... You will notice this when they performed Mezame Returner... You can watch the video again and look closely on how she moves differently when they did the same choreo... Her legs were open wider than her other group mates... and the way she waves her hand is done more aggressively compare to her other members especially Ai who was just right beside her... This makes sense since Saki used to be the boss in a Biker Gang and she was the most aggressive one in their gang... She doesn't have that much experience in performing... So it's understandable that the excitement of them performing and people cheering for them made her move a little aggressively on the choreo... looking like she overdances but just a little... I don't even need to explain Tae... Since she is literally the most different out of the bunch... She literally is still a mindless zombie who still hasn't regained her consciousness unlike the other members... And you could see this in the way she dances and moves... She moves like a zombie... She doesn't dance properly to the choreo and has very lazy movements compared to the other members... She also doesn't sing and just makes random zombie noises... If you notice all of this, you can tell that they are all very different from each other... which what makes them so good as it looks more genuine and realistic... Let's not even talk about their voices and the way they sing... Let's not lie... their voices and singing styles has much more diversity and distinction than Love Live idol groups... Whenever you listen to their songs, even if you have only watched the series once, you could instantly know which one is singing a certain part without having to watch a video... Cuz their voices and singing styles are so distinct from each other that you can really tell... Don't get me wrong! Love Live also has diversity and distinction from the groups' singing voices... But not so different just like in Zombieland Saga... They are only slightly different from each other... Majority of them has cutesy and pitchy voices... There's only a slight difference in the highness of pitch that varies the members' voices... There are also members with "considerably" deep voices like Riko from Aquors and Maki and Umi Sonoda from Muse... But their voices aren't that deep to make a very obvious distinction when they sing as a group... Their slight deep voices doesn't really stand out that much UNLIKE Junko Konno from Zombieland Saga who have such a powerful deep voice that stands out so much and makes a really huge and obvious difference when one listens to Franchouchou singing as a group... I don't even know if riko, maki, and umi's voices should be considered "deep" because it sounds like a pretty normal voice range to me... But at this rate! knowing that in Love Live! members who have high, pitchy, and cutesy voices are always the majority... So maybe voices like this can be considered "deep" for the sake of it being Love Live!... Since it makes them a little distinct from the rest... So yeah... Love Live voices and singing styles only has slight differences from each other... and if you listen to them singing as a group, one would have a hard time identifying which one is singing a certain part without having to watch them... WHEREAS in Zombieland Saga, when Franchouchou sings as group... Even without watching them, one could instantly tell which one is singing because they have very distinct voices and singing styles except only Sakura and Ai since their voices are a little bit similar to each other with very slight differences of Ai having a voice and singing style that sounds more nasally and Sakura sounding a bit higher in pitch and a little shaky... But other than that, the other casts all have VERYY distinct voices and singing styles... Yugiri has a very feminine, mature, sexy, and seductive singing style paired with a deep voice... Lily has a cutesy and bright singing style paired with a VERYY high pitch voice of a kid... Saki has an aggressive, naughty/delinquenty, and tomboyish singing style paired with a voice that isn't too high and also isn't too deep.. Just right... And we have Junko... My favorite Franchouchou member... Has a very deep and powerful voice and singing style... This is what OP's comment meant about Zombieland Saga's Idol group, Franchouchou, not losing their individualities and unique personalities even when performing as a group unlike other idol animes like Love Live which lacks in that department... Coming to back to this because Season 2 is coming so soon and this moment made me love this anime. Not a very big fan of idol anime, but Zombieland Saga is an exception.

I will say, having seen S2, I think it was a very cool decision to have the CGI/mocap improve as they became more experienced as a group. It feels like I’m following a real idol group - if you can make it through the really awkward and stilted CGI dance numbers in the beginning, you get to watch their performances become more cohesive and smoother in real (episodic) time.

I will say, having seen S2, I think it was a very cool decision to have the CGI/mocap improve as they became more experienced as a group. It feels like I’m following a real idol group - if you can make it through the really awkward and stilted CGI dance numbers in the beginning, you get to watch their performances become more cohesive and smoother in real (episodic) time.
Hearing junko sing like that gave me goosebumps as it was unexpected 😩❤😍 it was so beautiful! Expected of a legend soloistttt
