Mixing both expansions is the best way to play. Adds a whole new dimension to the game, really really fun! I highly recommend it, even with only 2 players :D
Thanks for sharing the review and the level of detail on the expansion. I appreciate your candor with regard to the playing audience. You have valid points, as I, too, play the game with kids (grand-kids) and the expansion sounds fun, but, I'll likely not add it to game play with the grand kids for the same rationale you shared.
Yeah, it definitely adds a bit more complexity to the game. I don't think I'd include it when I play Zombie Dice with people who haven't played the game before, but with veterans of the game it can be fun to shake things up a bit. What's nice about this expansion is that you can choose to never roll the school bus on your turns and just play basic Zombie Dice.
So you can remember what you've got so far, you cant "keep" the school dice it, you can either roll 3 normal die or 2 normal + school die. If you roll 2 brains on the school die you get 2 brain markers for example. The markers aren't really needed to be honest.
Not sure anymore. It's a few years old now. I've seen it at some of my local game stores. You can probably buy it directly from Steve Jackson games or one of the online game shops like CoolStuff or Miniatures Market.
+jaywoodruff thanks for the tip. Definitely something to add to the games list for the grand kids, especially since they're really into that dino-age now. :)
Looks cool. Do you play the 3rd expansion with the 2nd expansion? Or is the 3rd only meant for the base game? I have a 6 year old too. I don't like the school bus theme either... I tell my kid it's a city bus.
DadsGaming Yeah we like to mix both expansions in, though when I play with the kids we just use the Santa die from the first expansion and leave the Hunk and Hottie out because they can increase the difficulty level quite a bit. But Santa is always fun with his various presents.

Great review! Thanks for all the info, I love Zombie Dice and will probably pick this up when I get the chance.

The only good thing about the simplicity of the game is that it also makes it minimalistic so I can take it to school
I like the expansion pack. I love zombie dice i think it is a great game. I think this was a good addition to the game!
what are the tokens for

Where do I find this expansion? Can't find on eBay or Amazon.

For kids, dino hunt dice is great, very similar mechanics and you're trying to catch dinosaurs for a zoo instead of eating brains.

If you want to play this with your daughter, instead of calling it a school bus, just call it a bus...
+kalajel - For some kids, their only frame of reference for "bus" is the school bus.
The Cardboard Dungeon Hmm, fair enough.
kalajel you could call it a Lunch Wagon. You are a zombie after all
I dont know, I love how simple zombie dice is. I think that this might take that away from the game
