We're glad you're still enjoying your Fern Marshall!
Happy to be a part of the fam!!
PLS HAOWORTH DIGITAL KNIT IN UK
Why do you not stock digital knit in the UK?
Yeahhhh glad to be part of the Fern family. My back doesn’t hurt anymore. Love my chair. Glad you put me up on it.
My man!! No doubt, my brother! Thanks again for the footage 💯
Thanks much. Great review.
I'm 6'1", 195 lbs, and have owned a Fern for three months. It is a well-built chair with plenty of adjustments. And, like all chairs, has pluses and minuses. When I first used it, the seat felt TOO firm. But after about a week I became acclimated to it and could sit for many hours without fatigue or numbness. Unfortunately, after two months or so my rear end would get numb after as little as 30 minutes in the chair. Shifting around would help, but since the seat pan is fairly narrow in width, as well as depth, that limits how much shifting I can do. Similarly, the back of the chair is very comfortable as long as I sit exactly in the center, as it too is fairly narrow, and any shifting will result in feeling the hard edges of the back. I do love the tilt function and the adjustable tension that it provides, as well as the wide adjustability of the arm rests.
Overall it is a high quality chair, and definitely the best I have owned. But since all of my previous chairs were typical Office Depot cheapies, that isn't necessarily saying much. I did try a Herman Miller Embody, but didn't like that at all. Their Aeron chair has the best tilting action (with the Fern right behind it), but it has very hard edges that I could feel whenever moving at all, which led me to the Fern. I would recommend the Fern, but with the caveats that I described.
Did you get the lumbar support on yours? I'm curious whether it's ideal for someone about your size.
@@MargatroidNo, I did not. It's fine for me without it.
@@jimscott9974 So no lower back pain with extended sitting, huh? I was wondering if the gap between the seat and the backrest would be bothersome for a taller person, as some have complained about it. I also tried the Embody myself and I didn't care for how rigid and narrow it was. Seems like the Fern is one of the few good options for a taller person.
@@MargatroidI haven't had any lower back pain at all, but your mileage may vary, as they say. The gap doesn't really bother me, but it may be because I tend to slide forward a bit and lean back a lot. The flexibility of the back is really nice, as is the digital knit fabric. I did add a headrest from Atlas which I really like. Since I tend to lean back a lot I wanted a headrest and, though pricey, the Atlas headrest works great. The width and depth of the seat could be larger, but other than the seat cushion getting a bit compressed (which I've gotten used to) I am happy with the chair. Hope you find one that works for you.
Dope! Thanks for this Marshall….I was wondering if there was a stool version or bench version for a taller desk like an architects table
You’re the best! Thanks again 🙏🏾
I didn’t either until Kantis sent me his 😳🔥. Thanks Vonne!! I appreciate you!
Bought my Fern after watching your video! Great chair! More vids dude!! ;-)
Thanks my man! I'm on it!
I just got the Halo version of this chair. It’s very comfortable.
I experienced the Ferm back while working for a consulting firm and I had to get one once I had enough money.
However, my biggest regret was buying it with the headrest. The showroom in Sydney, Australia did not have a sample with a headrest or lumbar.
I'm about 166cm (~80cm from the hip to head) and at the lowest position of the headrest, it pushes my head down instead of resting my neck against it. If I was maybe 10 cm taller in the upper torso, I feel that it would really feel great. The headrest cost me an additional AUD$88 (including tax). I do wish that I could swap out the backrest for one without a headrest now.
Hei man, how much did you buy your fern in total? and is there a reason why digital knit is not available in australia?
@@kennysughiarto2780 under $1300.
I'm not sure if it is even available. You can definitely ask the sales person cause they get it straight from the manufacturer.
Do you have a PayPal link or something?
Ordered a Fern due to your review and Dan Ahn's, wanted to split the 'commission' between the two of you.
Mine came w/ a minor defect to be repaired (seat depresses into the canister a bit when sat in), but thing's incredible.
Got the lumbar, gives a bit of chiropractic 'pain' when sat in, but it cracked a spot I couldn't reach and it has me feeling better than I have in years.
Hey great video! does the chair come pre-assembled? my lower back has been killing me lately and kinda settled on buying the fern now
Yes it does. Thanks so much!
That is a sweet chair, but it’s way out of my price range. More than my car payment and mortgage combined! I will say though that working at Haworth in the mid 90s was an awesome experience.
That seems to be the sentiment amongst the employees I've come across. Thanks so much for watching!
I love that you also noticed Deion sitting in the Fern! As the Product Manger for Fern, just a heads up, that might not be the last you see of Deion and the Fern :)
That’s dope, Neal! I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled 👀
we comin!
I'm from Baltimore also, can you try out the chairs at the Price Modern place or did you only order it from there?
I tried it out there about 4 years ago, i’m not sure about how it is now. I’d give them a call or stop by if you can.
@@themarshallfox thanks
🔥🔥🔥
Bro!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾 #SQUAD
Sold my secret labs Titan chair. Bought the Haworth Soji chair last month during their 15% off sale. Really really regretting not buying the Fern in digital knit instead during that sale. That being said I’m returning the Soji in a few days and perhaps wait for another 15% sale to pop up. I spend 12 hours a day in a chair at my home office I’m 6’3 and I’m hoping this chair can help me with my posture when I sit. Now it’s just a matter of waiting to see if I can withstand sitting on a standard kitchen table chair until a sale pops up.
They seem to have the sales pretty often. Hopefully I’ll see you in the #FernFam soon!
@@themarshallfox ended up returning the soji and exchanged it for the fern haha. Which casters did you buy for yours? I like how the roller blade wheels look and wanted them in blue to match the Baltic blue digital knit
@@vatsyy Welcome to the Fern Fam! I can’t recall the name of the casters but I think the name is on the wheels when I show them in the video. They’re not the roller blade kind though.!
@@vatsyy how do you feel 1 month later? I'm looking at the fern vs the embody. Also 6'3. Heard the fern might not be the best for us taller folk
Haworth has a 15% off sale going on now
I had mine for a week now and I love it but when I sit on it the cylinder sink about an inch and goes up when I get up. Did you experience that with your chair ? Thank you for the long term review ! 👍
Yes both of mine do the same.
@@themarshallfox Well that is kind of strange so I suppose this is normal. Thank you for your feedback !
No problem!
Just got this chair and am so glad I did, especially after seeing the video going around of Herman Millers CEO telling her employees they shouldn't get raises. Screw HM, ill never buy their chair again, especially when the Fern is leaps and bounds better.
Welcome to the Fern fam!
Bro I love my fern. Bought it after your review lol
Only thing I don’t like is the wobbly arm rest but it’s small.
I remember!
Your arm rest shouldn’t be wobbly, mine isn’t 😩
@@themarshallfox Dang! I need to take mine in or something! Good to know that's not supposed to be happening lol
@@mikeyates5003 Man Idk. I would reach out to them to see what your options are!
What colour in the digital knit is your back rest? ALmost a deep teal colour
It was called Baltic Blue. It’s not teal at all. May look that way due to color grading the video? It’s like a navy blue.
Do you think it would be good for reclining console gaming with your feet up on a foot stool?
Probably!
Still loving mine as well!
Nice! #FernFam
I had bought mine after watching your glowing review. And you were correct!
@@darishi That's dope! I know it isn't for everybody but I'm glad it worked out for you.
Guys in the EU/UK be wary - the warranty over here is much watered down. Also you can only get the standard black mesh fern - no digital knit and the customer service here is terrible. Unfortunately I found out after my order took well over 2 months to arrive with no update. Shame because when it finally did arrive, it turned out to be an awesome chair.
It's one thing im wary of myself being based in the UK and wanting a Fern. How is the chair anyway?
@1:25 what mic arm is that?
VIVO Black Height Adjustable Pneumatic Spring Microphone Counterbalance Arm Mount, Compact Mic Stand with Mounting Clamp STAND-MIC01
Love your hat man. What is that?
Thanks man, its my logo of an M/Fox.
It's a beautiful chair.. But in the end I decided I needing something with a head rest and it's not easy to find a Fern that has one in my region
Got you! Thanks for watching!
Do you recommend the lumbar support and forward tilt or no need?
You don’t need either.
@@themarshallfox ah, heard forward tilt could be useful? How come you think not necessary
@@mcmickey3344 I have it and don’t use it.
Forward tilt at least isn't as good as other chairs apparently
I’m thinking digital knit , grey, should I get it, it’s 1600?
Hey man, I think they're having a 15% sale right now. I'd try to find one to sit in first just to be sure you'll like it.
Not sure if you've ordered yet, but would personally recommend the Obsidian Digitweed, or save ~60USD and go w/ the pipe English Tweed.
Pairs well w/ the grey knit, and it gives off comfy couch vibes.
I know we're talking about the Fern but can we get into the logo transition?! *faints*
😂🤣😂 I appreciate it 😂
I really really worry about the armrest, i have Secret lab omega and it broken alot at armrest after 2,5 years, just a normal user. I like almost thing about Fern more than Leap, Gesture except the QC of armrest ... 😢😢
The armrest is fine after 3 years now. Good as new.
wow this is not an indepth review, just a 5 min, "I like this chair because I like it" pfff
He mentions his “full review” video at least three times in this video which you could easily check out, as this video is just meant for him touching on whether it’s still good a few years later or not. Maybe next time pay attention, pfff
I'm between two ferns
I see what you did there lol.
Did you get ash-ed up in photoshop?
🤣😂😂 Nahhh he let me live lol
@@themarshallfox 😆😆
Would you recommend this for a 6'4 265lbs guy? it feels like other brands (HM) are made specifically for midgets and dolls haha
My chair arived Broken from the factory. Box was in perfect shape. It was put in the box broken. Very disapointed :(
Sorry to hear that! Did you contact them?
The least informative review I’ve seen in the recent years about a product.
So the review says “I still love it, I can sell as new and Beyoncé got them too”
Hahaha I told you up front. and I agree. The first one I did was a more of a traditional review if you care to check that one out. If not, I get it lol. This chair’s well-covered on UA-cam now so you should find what you’re looking for.
