That's brilliant!! So true!! Here I was thinking that the narrator's comment was "basic", and you just went and elevated tremendously. Holy forking shirtballs
Kalina Poydovska everyone dies. The end, no just kidding. They find out they are in the bad place. The end, no just kidding. The judge agrees to send them back to earth. The end, no just kidding. They start up a new neighborhood experiment the End, no just kidding
Notice how chidi says he wishes they met by her knocking in his office door for help with philosophy then in season 3 she knocks on his office door asking for help with philosophy
Thanks for making me cry all over again over Chidi's sacrifice and his and Eleanor's last moments together before his reboot. This show is forking good.
Ok, usually it would infuriate me to have a character/person around that dumb... but I adore Jason. I don't think he's actually dumb, as much as innocent. I mean it's like hurling a molotov cocktail does in fact solve one problem it just means he immediately has another problem. So he's not wrong... eventhough he's not exactly right either. So like he's not smart, but not exactly dumb... it's more like he's just REALLY different in the brain. I kind of want to know what those MIR scan results showed.
Torchy Brown ok, now I kinda see your point given how season 3 ended, WHICH actually made Elenor sadder from his sacrifice than him. But I get it. *And before you think this, I’m not trying to minimize what you think, I’m just trying to understand it* So in your mind, what exactly would fix this for you? What would have to change? Ultimately your answer might make the media landscape better. Or are you saying it’s fine, but just acknowledging the past so people don’t forget and can learn from their mistakes?
"I don't think I'll ever be the type of person who just acts. I can't just open a door and walk through without knowing what's on the other side. Even with eternity to try, I just don't think that can happen." Chidi to Jason Season 1.
There is a plot hole in the beginning where chidi says “I’m actually speaking French everything you say here is automatically translated into your native language” but actually when they do the experiment in season 2 and 3 where they’re on earth alive he speaks fluently in English without an accent or is he just really good at language is it a plot hole or am I just being stupid
it's not a plot hole, his native language is French but he also can speak English and multiple other languages too. they mention that 1 or 2 times in the show, I think.
i think he can speak both languages fluently, but he would rather choose to speak french. i think that’s why he speaks french in “the good place”, but decides to speak english on earth, in australia, so people can understand what he’s saying. i’m not sure though, that’s my guess💘🤷♀️
I noticed that too. It’s like a plot hole they didn’t know how to fix, but they tried. Yes, Chidi’s native language is French, and clearly he preferred it in season 1, but in season 3 he tells Eleanor that he went to school in America and that’s why he’s fluent in English, but all the flashbacks of his childhood schooling are in Africa (though they speak English and only his teacher has an accent).
At first, my crush on Eleanor blinded me to the other 5 characters. After 4 seasons, my fav character is Chidi, and I have a new respect for Ted's acting.
Now, I finally understand why they had the scene where the boy (Chidi) taught his parents and debated why they shouldn't have a divorce. Other than the parallels of being a professor in university in his adult life, it's that he CONSTANTLY had to choose for OTHERS (e.g. his parents).
Until when he is an adult, he hurt everyone with his "rigidity and indecisiveness". He with Simone, he with his friend who was the groom, he with himself over blueberries, he on the couch in Simone's office (both sides are the same, he chose to sat in the middle), and here, in choosing two hats which are same but in different colours.)
He had to constantly choose for others, without asking HIMSELF what he wanted. Because all his life he was doing in this way. How? How then would he know, what his choices are and what he wanted?
Even if they are the personality, they choose for others, is it the best thing for them? If you leave your kids to decide the state of the marriage, be your goddamn messenger, how is this going yo affect the kids and when they grow up. Similarly to Tahani, to Eleanor and to Jason.
5:31 i just realized that chidi said how normal people meet is knocking on his office door asking for help with philosophy, and that’s exactly what eleanor did when they got on earth again. (6:50)
I think Chidi and Jason really deserved to be in the good place. Although he is undecisive, his intentions are still as good as it gets, and is ready to help anyone. Jason has a pure heart, he's just dumb
Please do! You must start at season 1, episode 1. Seasons 1,2,3 on Netflix. Season 4 on Hulu. Last 4 episodes of the series to air on NBC in January 2020, and presumably on Hulu after they air on TV.
It will never not get to me that Chidi changed Eleanor simply by agreeing to help her. He completely subverted her entire worldview by refusing to abandon her despite his countless issues. She asked him for help and in every single reboot he agreed to help her and never refused; and learning that steels Eleanor's resolve for everything that follows.
Even at the beginning I really don't think that Chidi deserved to be in the bad place, the person he damaged most was himself, and no one can feel his pain
Is his indecisiveness an actual medical condition? Like I know that the neurologist said that there was nothing wrong, but it seems like there is something else going on.
Chidi's epic existential crisis in Season 3 is the best thing ever.
What’s his existential crisis? Oh wait, is it when he saw the time knife?
Oh wait nvm yes that was the best thing ever
When chidi ate chili
Yeah thanks
YOU PUT THE PEEPS IN THE CHILI POT 😂
i love how chidi and eleanor represent conscience and will respectively. one won't work without the other
Excellent point.
And that’s why Chidi and Eleanor are a great couple
brilliant underrated comment
I never though of it that way. Nice!
Wow. I never thought of it
Season 2: “I wish we met the way people normally meet, by you knocking on my door.”
Season 3: _Knock knock_
Noice
I just noticed that justnow
Ooooooh damnnnnnnn
“The end. Just kidding” basically sums up the entire show
That's brilliant!!
Chidi is great at knowing all about the different ideas about ethics, he just needs help deciding which versions of ethics to actually apply.
Feels like my philosophy exam. XD
I am pretty sure it's ethnics

I loved how he punched Brent for being a deckhead
Same lol it was hilarious
I think it's gonna make Simone want him more than ever, which is gonna torture Eleanor, which was the Bad Place's plan all along.
Brent used profanity in the good place!
Even Michael can’t do that!!
He deserved nothing less.
@@OvSpP Wait, if Brent can use profanity, does that mean... he's a demon too?

Thanks for making me cry all over again over Chidi's sacrifice and his and Eleanor's last moments together before his reboot. This show is forking good.
Just wait until you see their final moments in season 4...
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen
only one of the best?
Brian Edner well basically the best
sooo basically confirmed that they are actual soulmates
The way her voice cracks when she says, "Bye, Chidi" at 8:28 will **always** crush my soul
And the look on her face afterwards... Such a great actor!

From the Nihlson Smielson album....THE 70'S, MAN.

I think Jason the best

Chidi is the reverse stereo type by being the black savior to the white character.
cat lover Chidi is the one that change them though.
@@idontevenhaveapla7224
He's still the savior, and the voice of reason. That's rare
Torchy Brown I don’t think this works that way. The plot would have the be different.
Plus we already have a magical person and her name is Janet.
Torchy Brown so you basically are ruining my comment? Yes?
Btw, the magical Janet was a joke. One you obviously didn’t get.
Torchy Brown ok, now I kinda see your point given how season 3 ended, WHICH actually made Elenor sadder from his sacrifice than him. But I get it.

As an anxious and indecisive overthinker, Chidi is an entire mood.
"I don't think I'll ever be the type of person who just acts. I can't just open a door and walk through without knowing what's on the other side. Even with eternity to try, I just don't think that can happen."
Chidi to Jason Season 1.
BUT THEN HE WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR WITHOUT EVEN SITTING ON THE BENCH IN THE FINALEEEE
ColonelMiniPenguin No I noticed that to. He is certainly smart enough to be fluent in both languages but they never explain it.
it's not a plot hole, his native language is French but he also can speak English and multiple other languages too. they mention that 1 or 2 times in the show, I think.
It is a little confusing as childhood flashbacks are all in English, and not in French.
i think he can speak both languages fluently, but he would rather choose to speak french. i think that’s why he speaks french in “the good place”, but decides to speak english on earth, in australia, so people can understand what he’s saying. i’m not sure though, that’s my guess💘🤷♀️

I've often felt I was a mensch.
At first, my crush on Eleanor blinded me to the other 5 characters. After 4 seasons, my fav character is Chidi, and I have a new respect for Ted's acting.

He had to choose for his parents, that they shouldn't have to opt for divorce. Bearing in mind, the various consequences for both sides.
