nah, in southeast asia, it's pretty common to go to bars, and the women working there would drink with you then go home with you for the night for a small price. basically they are independent contractors working at bars, and pays "rent" or "finders fee" to the bar they work at. dude was just looking for nightlife and party. i am not saying i condone this sort of transactional behavior, but it is a common practice in southeast asia, in case you didn't know that.
