I’ve been a die hard Xbox gamer since OG Xbox. They’ve just about lost me this console generation. I literally said to myself not long ago “there’s zero reason to get a ‘series’ console.” I still play my Xbox one X. I now have a PS5. lol.
The only reason to get a series X is for backwards compatibility with your old library. If you have one. Beyond that. Everything Microsoft makes goes to PC and you don't need one. I've contemplated it, but at the same time, don't see a reason with all the ports and remasters making their way to other systems.
I've bought my first Xbox with XSX and to me it's a good box, expensive mind you, I can play backwards compatible stuff, emulators, but sadly don't use it for much more. Heck even HiFi Rush is better on PS with the haptick feedback.
Same here. Bought a PS5 a few months ago. Sadly, I think the Series X will be my last Xbox, and I’ve had multiple of each going back to the original. Every tv in my house has an Xbox attached to it and it’s been that way since the original.
At minimum there should be console exclusivity windows before going to Gamepass. These day and date releases are working about as well as movies in theaters and streaming were for box office numbers.
I partially blame this to the people cheering Xbox and Phil Spencer during the buyouts a year ago What is worse these 4 only the Bethesda studio and likely some Activision studio will follows soon These devs realized players engagements doesn't mean profit especially on gamepass
I cheered on the buyouts like the Activision deal, just for a different reason(I wanted stuff like cod to die off, so that the void left would open the space for fps games to be a fun, competitive, interesting genre again)
Just a minority of people outside of The United States care about Xbox, there's no way that this brand will be still relevant in 5 years from now, the only thing that is keeping Xbox alive is Microsoft.
I don't hate Phil Spencer, but I never bought that "nice guy" image he tries to sell us. He's a businessman and he's been tasked with managing Xbox's slow decay as a brand. Eventually the goodwill he tried to preserve will be completely eroded.
The gaming industry as a whole is in freefall. I mean, even the mighty Sony is not releasing that many games and have laid off people, so it's just not MS. I am still wondering how they are paying all these studios when they have released so few games.
Either: 1. Gamepass is eliminated. 2. The price of Gamepass goes up to cover for the lossed profits. 3. They decide to stop selling games all together both physically and digitally. Put them straight to Gamepass. And truly make it into the video game version of Netflix.
Like they said, we are in a economy crisis & the video game industry is already in a crash, they wont tell you thats all & secretly killing companies 1 by1.
Saturo Iwata took a paycut when the WiiU failed. Switch went on to crush. Xbox terminates its best developer and spends millions on legal fees to spend billions to buy another dev when they can't manage the devs they have.
Phil also has a boss to answer to and a bottom-line to show. That's all Microsoft cares about. Let's keep in mind Sony did something similar to Bungie shortly after purchasing them. I'm curious what other franchises would need to suffer if they didn't close these studios? Because you just don't simply sacrifice one thing without trying to compensate for something else.
Who's going to supply pc with games if xbox and playstation aren't? Pc will be an indie machine nothing more. And Nintendo games are for babies. No thanks.
This is why you should not trust companies. They do not care about studios they have acquired and they do not care about good games. All they care about is moolah good money. There needs to be more regulation about these acquisitions as the conditions laid by these major studious like EA and Microsoft are mostly bad and misused and should need more regulation. The same goes for Sony and Ubisoft.
I'm glad people are finally starting to wake up to the incompetence and evil of Xbox. They've been disappointing the last 10 years, and this is just the most recent F. Up Too many hard-working people have lost their jobs because of Xbox is poor Decisions. Stick with Playstation, PC or Nintendo guys

Whats hilarious about this is the fact that MS currently owns some the heaviest hitting studios in gaming, yet they are still finding ways to F that up too. Realistically, owning the studios that produce CoD, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc should have you on top of the gaming world right now. But instead all of these studios are going to basically turn into what Rare has turned into under MS leadership (dont come at me with Sea of Thieves. Its supposedly such a successful, highly played game, but when do you ever see anyone actually talking about it?). As an Xbox fan, I hate to say this, but every studio MS has purchased in the last few years is going to turn into Rare... and thats not a good thing. At all.
I wish Xbox could be as good as they were at the start. For a videogame company, they've basically done everything backwards compared to other companies in a similar area. The best example to compare them to is Atari, they started out strong and ended a laughing stock. But When you compare Xbox to Nintendo, Sony, Sega, or any other console manufacturers or once console manufacturers, you can see most of these companies started out small and grew exponentially. For example, Sega started out poorly in the home with the SG-1000. It was a total disaster, way less powerful then the competitors, and barely scratched a couple hundred thousand units sold. However, over time they got better, with the Master System, then the Genesis, the Game Gear, the Saturn and all culminating into the Dreamcast. Regardless of your opinions on some of these consoles, aside from maybe the Game Gear they were all extremely competent consoles, with large libraries and Sega managed most of them very well. I still think the Dreamcast and the Genesis are some of gaming's greatest achievements, there's a reason they are still held high next to Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, even 20 years after their last console. Instead of this, Xbox had the reverse effect. They started out really, really strong with the first Xbox and the Xbox 360. Both are incredible consoles with phenomenal libraries and are very beloved. However, they dropped off a cliff about halfway through the 360's life, with the Kinect, the casual gaming push, the Xbox One reports circling online, and the treatment of their next hardware. The Xbox One is one of gaming's biggest disasters, plagued from the start with horrible features and basically no 1st party support. Companies and people will talk about how 1st party support isn't important, but would most people who didn't see E3 2013, who then bought a PS4 agree? No. They didn't just buy the PS4 for funsies, they bought it because it had compelling exclusives you couldn't find on competitor hardware. Microsoft basically had no interest in making worthwhile 1st party content, instead just reusing the same Halo, Gears, Forza formula they created during the 360 days. Cut to now, where they are at their lowest. For a company that just dropped $80 BILLION a few months back on Activision Blizzard, the thought they have to cut major subsidiaries to stay afloat is a joke. I have such little respect for modern Xbox that even though I'm a collector, I refuse to collect anything Xbox past the 360, not even the Kinect.
Phil has always been the standard corporate empty suit. He just wears T-shirts and says things gamers want to hear. He’s had 10 years to fix Xbox since Don Mattrick screwed it up and I don’t think Xbox is any better off now than it was back then. Where are the games, Phil? Why isn’t Obsidian working on a New Vegas sequel now that Xbox owns BSG?
For a while I was giving Phil Spencer a lot of slack because he does have passion in his job and seems very down to earth but this is the time where I can no longer do that because its becoming a thing with him of making big promises but then everything he says end up going the opposite way. This is the straw the broke the camel's back because after the how much Hi Fi Rush made an impact on people and they still close tango gameworks down when Phil said that they will continue to support the studio and that the game was a surprise success is unacceptable, they buy all these studios and there is absolutely no improvements I am seeing from them, both redfall and Starfield both failed in thier own ways with Phil and Microsoft pushing those games so hard only to blow up in thier faces. Phil Spencer creates false hope and promises, that is what he does.
A lot of people said that Game Pass doesn't work and isn't a good thing. Shawn Layden came out against it and later Strauss Zelnick as well. Turns out that both were absolutely right and their detractors were wrong and didn't know the numbers...
This has got zero to do with gamepass and more of bad corporate decisions, Microsoft is a billion dollar company and have plenty of money to pay their subsidiary assets and studios with there tf do you think they have the money to buy ABK and Zenimax? This is likely coz corporate side didn’t see the value of these studios and didn’t meet corporate targets and decided to close and consolidate them
Gamepass is actually great. Works well. Has pc and Xbox games which you can download. And alot of great games for a good price. But I just don't see how it's sustainable...day 1 gamepass on new games sounds like suicide.
See that’s the problem.. weirdos like you won’t buy them when they come on Xbox but you like I want them on ps5 which means you have both.. gamers like you are what kills the industry
Having both plus a Nintendo switch is the way to go. Even if your PC build just is for 1080p gaming you’ll enjoy the 144 or 240hz and higher frame rates. My Xbox x will be my way to play ncaa 25 and GTA 6 for cheap. 😂
This is why the FTC should have been able to stop MS's buyout of Activision, look at what's happening, studios that were fine are now tax write-offs for MS's $76+B hole. Having old Call of Duty servers back up and running is kool, but not for the sacrifice of people's jobs (game studios), creativity, and the consumers as a whole. The losers overall is the gaming community.
After watching John on SpawnWave News this morning and this video, i can see why Sean hasn't been on the SpawnCast Podcast for the last several weeks. John is an optimistic fool, Sean is an REALIST and says what's really happening.
Let’s all be honest. All publicly traded companies do this. Is it fair? No. No one wants anyone to lose their jobs. If we all kept renting movies from blockbuster video all those people would still be working. Companies want to make the most money they can while spending the least. Just bigger versions of ourselves. People are talking about canceling their gamepass membership as if that will save more jobs. If Indiana jones comes out and it slaps and Xbox keeps making bangers everyone will forget about the studio closures. We still haven’t heard about how many people are losing their jobs, just studio closing/consolidating.
This would make sense if gamepass wasn’t a factor. Gamepass was a fail from the moment they made it bigger than what it’s supposed to be. It was suppose to be a niche platform where Indie games can have a space and a few forgotten titles that people haven’t got a chance to play not because they culdnt buy it but because they only have but so much time to play games per week. Then CEO thought it was a good idea to put SINGLE player games day one on gamepass and wondered why it’s a fail. Literally in every way possible that was the dumbest thing I have ever heard a company of that magnitude do. Far as I’m concerned they spent billions on companies and came out a loss, luckily Microsoft doing well in other divisions because if it was just Xbox division this studio wuld be gone by now off these awful decisions lmao
I’m not sure if gamepass is a fail or not. For me, gamepass is an upsell. $18/month x 12 is $216. I’ve never bought 3 games per year over the lifetime of a console. Plus, I still buy the games I’m interested in that are not on gamepass. So overall I’m still spending more. Plus I’m playing games I never would have bought. Hollow Knight, Hades, Li’s of p hifi rush and more.
But that’s what I mean, it’s a good service years ago when it was for lower budget titles at a lower price. Gamepass literally failed when they decided to allow all and including AAA titles to be on a sub hoping that it’ll improve console sales and it flopped big time. Quality of the games released went through the window, games suddenly not meeting quotas. It’s not a good business model, not for how expensive it is to make those games now. Keep game pass for what it is supposed to be, a low cost platform for indies and low budget titles along with older titles that already made profit from their 30 day release window and allow the new AAA titles get actual sales rather than depending on getting people to consistently subscribe.
It's easier to yell than it is to think. Welp time to go buy the mega edition of the COD game instead of buying 13 other games all for the same amount of money.
They’re tearing up relationships with MS. All they do is buyout vulnerable talent, take their best effort then shut them down and leave brand establisher to the wolves then they have a name for a brand with high potential and give the work to lowest pay workers they can find.

They could cancel it. If they want to save a little, they could reboot development, make it a better game. Arkane folks were hoping MS would cancel/reboot it when they bought the whole publishing company. Microsoft had them release it, OG arkane austin folks left the studio
It's fairly common when companies get acquired there are layoffs. Usually leadership makes the rounds on each team and identifies who their rock stars are behind these games. The rock stars keep their employment and get re-assigned to other projects. This is a common practice in corporate america.
Yah, I can admit I gave up on MS a few years ago as all of those big games "that are coming" are still nowhere to be found. Xbox way of thinking that they aren’t in competition with Sony or Nintendo is a load. Of course you are. Gamepass doesn’t change that fact. You make games and they make games regardless of how you distribute those games.
Them focusing on Gamepass too much is why they are doing horrible. Gamepass is only meant for teenagers and young adults with a lot of spare time on their hands, they need actual aa or aaa games. Don’t believe me, check nintendo, also playstation has games to hold their customers down

1. Gamepass is eliminated.
2. The price of Gamepass goes up to cover for the lossed profits.
3. They decide to stop selling games all together both physically and digitally. Put them straight to Gamepass. And truly make it into the video game version of Netflix.

Microsoft needs to detach from the gaming division, they are destroying the gaming industry.

At all.
They had to cut studios to be able to afford their latest color variant of their gaming controller. 😂
Exactly. Gamers need to realize that these people are just politicians at the end of the day. They are not our friends.

MS is arguably worse for the gaming community than post 2008 EA has been. And that’s really… REALLY saying something.

John is a sh*** submitted normie, he will never asking himself questions about VG industry.
@@kalighYup I love game pass. My whole family uses it daily.
