Good reaction. You went from saying bad camera work, to too much blue, to Holy Shit in about 2 seconds flat! He takes a 3 minute stroll and hits that drum drop at the exact right moment. Epic performance.
Phil Collins is an icon. He wrote this song about his divorce. He is so very talented. It is very difficult to sing and play drums at the same time. Love your reactions!
I saw him in concert twice, both times in the 80s. He’s one of the best live performers I’ve seen. I saw Queen in 1982, and Phil Collins has a stage presence that rivals Freddy Mercury. He was also the only performer to play both the UK and US venues for Live Aid, performing early in the UK and then taking a flight to perform in Philly. I prefer his solo work to the work of Genesis. The same can be said, for me, about Peter Gabriel. Mike Rutherford was probably equal in Genesis and his solo work. His solo back was Mike and the Mechanics.
I don’t get what you guys are talking about in the first break. The blue lights and the camera shots indicate the solemn or sober feeling of the song. The lyrics are deadly. The cut from the back showed how one man can control an entire crowd with his words and by slowly taking a walk around the stage. Then as he gets to his instrument he totally kills it by dropping the beat almost four minutes into the song. Have you never heard of showmanship that doesn’t involve dancing divas or fireworks? I really could not understand your criticism in the beginning.
😆 Drum Symbols...at that very moment ~ they fellout because this brother here! "Chester Thompson's professional association with Phil Collins ended in 2010, where tensions grew over Collins' dissatisfaction with Thompson's drumming during the Going Back tour. Thompson said that he had not spoken to Collins since. "I was pretty upset. But I'm over it now."
Huge confidence, yes. Very prepared. He looks like he is prowling the stage like a lion. The opening sounds invoke the jungle. Mysterious. Check out Genesis. And also Peter Gabriel. The other drummer is Chester Thompson and he came from a jazz/fusion background and played with the very accomplished Weather Report and Frank Zappa. He and Phil do a drum duet in all their concerts with Genesis. It is fantastic. Check out Genesis' live concerts with Phil Collins and Chester Thompson!
Phil Collins is a Legend! This performance is better than the studio version! Imo
This is one of the best live performances ever. Phil Collins is a legend.
Watching one of the greatest drummers that ever lived and he doesn't like the song. unbelievable.

You’re the only one of all the reactors that hates the blue lighting and the overall video! SMFH
Your friend talks too much and doesn't seem to recognize one of the best songs ever written and performed...
