    I bought unrefined blueberry seed oil on Etsy, and not only is it a lovely soft purple color, it smells VERY strongly of blueberry! I love it! (The color does not transfer to skin.)

    This guide is very helpful, thank you! I’ve struggled with adding scents to my natural butter formations. The scent of the butters always tends to overpower the added scents. I will read more on the blog post for the guide to combat this issue. You’re doing great work and I’ve learnt so much from you, thank you Marie.

    Hi. The only thing I think that can be a "con" when using an hydrosol (when 1 of its objectives is to add scent) is that it can become extremely diluted (always in terms of smell) depending on the preservative u're using. For example, cosgard has a somewhat intense smell (almondy) which sometimes dominates other existing smells/scents present in the formulation. Could u give us a few examples of "ecocert preservatives" that dont have much of a scent? Thank u very much

    Following you since long. And bought your book as well. Tried lot of cosmetic products and really proud of you.. can you plz guide what should be used to increase ph of lotion. I know to decrease ph citric acid is best but to increase ph i dont like LYE solution what is other option i can use?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  2 роки тому

      A NaOH solution is the industry standard for raising pH; it's safe, effective, and unlikely to interfere with your formulation. Why don't you like it?

    • @sadafsaleem87
      @sadafsaleem87 Рік тому +2

      @@HumblebeeAndMe actually i made mist and increased its ph by using LYE solution. That was working well that time. But after 2-3 months it started giving rashes and patches in my skin. So i thought that is more because i used lye. But i think ph was dropped so low that caused those red patches and rashes on face. I should use EDTA to stabilize ph

    I have some Dior J'Adore bath oil. As I assume bath oil is safe as a leave-on product, is it a good/ bad idea to swop out 1-2% of the oil phase for scented bath oil?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Shirley!
      As a general rule, you should not include finished store bought cosmetics/products in your formulations.
      You also shouldn't assume a bath oil is safe as a leave-on product as bath oils are rinse-off products :)
      For this product in particular; even though it's called a "bath oil", it's not an oil. Here's the ingredients for this product I found online:
      AQUA (WATER) ● SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE ● GLYCERIN ● PEG-7 GLYCERYL COCOATE ● COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE ● PARFUM (FRAGRANCE) ● PPG-26-BUTETH-26 ● PEG-40 GLYCERYL COCOATE ● PEG-150 DISTEARATE ● PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL ● PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL ● SODIUM COCETH SULFATE ● SODIUM CHLORIDE ● PENTYLENE GLYCOL ● ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE ● COCONUT ACID ● HEXYL CINNAMAL ● SODIUM BENZOATE ● SODIUM CITRATE ● HYDROXYCITRONELLAL ● ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE ● CITRIC ACID ● LINALOOL ● CAPRYLYL GLYCOL ● CITRONELLOL ● POLYQUATERNIUM-51 ● TOCOPHEROL ● GERANIOL ● BHT ● ALCOHOL ● PHENOXYETHANOL ● CI 14700 (RED 4) ● CI 19140 (YELLOW 5) ● CI 60730 (EXT. VIOLET 2)
      It's mostly water and surfactants-it's more like a shampoo than an oil. It absolutely will not function as an oil and cannot be used instead of an oil in any formulation.
      I hope that helps :) Happy making!

      I’ve never smelled a sweetgrass hydrosol that didn’t have an absolutely rank scent lingering in the background. Like silage/rotting grass. I’ve tried at least three different suppliers. Where are you finding these nice-smelling sweetgrass hydrosols?? The warm summer grass scent you get first is lovely, but the ones I’ve tried soooo quickly go completely stomach-turning.
