    Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
    Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
    Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
    Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

    5:49 You can bind right click. You just have to find already binded right click logic gate in the workshop, there is plenty.

    With canon's inability to aim it might be better to treat them like a shotgun rather than a semi automatic. Maybe try a 3x3 cluster shot so that you just hit a larger area.

      since you can slap that to the middle of your plane it also helps with flying straight.

      Or you could mirror the same Canon on either wing just to cancel out the recoil yaw

    things with no lock would probably be easier to use in first person. i’ve even seen people put circle/target decals on wedges that are glass so they have a sight of sorts for it.

    Well you see the missile knows where the target is and The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
    In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.
    The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error

      I too calculate where I am by using where I am not but I can't crash into things and explode. Am I doing something wrong? Is it just a skill issue????

    You should try to counteract the piston recoil by having pistons with the same weight extend in the opposite direction at the same time.

      OR he could make it shot in pairs, 2 iner, 2 middle, 2 outer, so it push both sides equaly. idk why he didn't think of that...

      @Circle9ru this here is the easiest solution, my assumption is that he wanted one firing at a time but in order to get that and be stable they need to be in the direct center of mass, and having them on the wings is the exact opposite of that

      @@Circle9ru There is one major problem with that, being that the recoil would then be doubled against the plane, possibly causing speed issues while firing.

    video idea: do a flipshot fight where your car can only shoot when a sensor cannot see the ground, and thus you need to jump in the air, flip, and shoot while upsidedown. I imagine it wouldn't work too well unless you use explosive weaponry.

    You should use these in your multiplayer vids, it will be fun seeing your friends confused why your rocket goes fast

    Perhaps you can do an evolution challenge with gunpowder cannon aircraft? See if the others can help streamline or improve your design even!
    Just be sure that they get the basic weapon and logic setup beforehand. :)

    You should start adding these mechanisms for the gunpowder cannons onto your multiplayer Monday builds to gain an edge on your opponents. That speed and distance increase will almost certainly give you a noticeable and invaluable leg up on them.

    It seemed like the rocket guidance was actually adjusting to the new speed of the launcher, so maybe with a longer delay (and extension) it could actually work for guided rockets.

    You should try using the recoil of weapons as propulsion. I'd like to see how you would alternate their timings to achieve constant thrust

    Could you use logic to vary the speed of the pistons, allowing you to adjust velocity? You could build an artillery piece with adjustable range.

    Reloading a gunpowder cannon in 2 seconds is pretty impressive! I'm pretty sure a gun crew usually use at least 10 seconds just to haul the cannon back in position after firing

    You should do an evolution video using the enemy's in the airborne expansion map as the selective pressure in some way. Maybe like a longest to survive or first to kill a certain amount.

    putting flat shields on a hinge on you are vehicle gets rocket resistance, putting rocket on shield gets penetration for flat shields, rocket aims assuming that you are not moving and target is not accelerating. you can trick rockets into aiming correctly by making them not move or only move towards target when firing.

    Please make challange where in order to fire weapons, your vehicle must be at a range of minimum and maximum speed limits in trail makers. The setup is use two speed sensors, one set to trigger above a set speed, and another set to trigger below a set speed, link them all to and gates with your gun fire button. Rules are no fancy system to keep within the set speed range

    This gave me the idea of what it would be like to have a bullet hell style plane fight. Adding more than one weapon (max 1 weapon firing directly forward) and have them firing at some angle offsets or different directions. Line a 3- or 5-way shots, 2 or 4 guns firing in a cone shaped spiral, 2 guns sweeping to sides, etc. The point is to add more projectiles on screen making the fight look more hectic. Of course I'm not saying that the other guns couldn't contribute to damaging the opponents as a storm of projectiles spreading over a large area can be hard to get out of without any hits. This of course has to be done without aim assist. This might not be fully fleshed out idea, but it's a start. You could change firing pattern between rounds or even have different firing patterns and gun types at the same time if you want to go crazy with it.

    I had been experimenting with trying to make Piston powered faster Tank Cannon Shots... but I got stumped trying to figure out how to lazify it so I could have the Piston retract to fire again without having to just keep tapping the firing button and instead be able to hold the fire button down just like if one was firing a Tank Cannon normally. Also, i've taken notice that the Tank Cannon's Aerodynamics is actually roughly the same level of decent as the front of a Jet Turbine and a Tiny Cannon's Aerodynamics is actually outright powerful...
    Now I know that Logic Gates mighta been the answer for my desire to easify Piston Tank Cannon firing...

    Now that you've gotten six of them to fire in sequence Scrap, its time to build a flying minigun. Get them to rotate, and only fire in the 12:00 position. Then get some of your mates around to be targets ;)

    challenge request: do a dogfight where you only use gunpowder cannons to fight and you can enhance the speed of the cannonball/bomb by using the piston method you're using in this video it will be interesting how you guys counter the recoil from the piston pushing the cannon and the cannons recoil.

    We need dogfights with speed boosted projectiles.
    Edit: they could do the 3 round system where round 1 is with bombs
    Round 2 is rockets (with auto-aim disabled)
    And round 3 is gunpowder cannons.

    You could probably have used the tiny cannon as a painter for the larger cannons so you know where you're aiming before firing. Could have saved you from adding so many cannons and thus so much weight on your craft. It could have also extended your effective range as you would have to guess as much the leads of your shots.

    I think that those faster rockets would be great for mid- to long-range, since the normal ones seem to be most effective when close to the target. I think the extra velocity and reduced drop would make them great as an additional set to the normal rockets, so you have the best range variation!

    Maybe you and the guys could do a first person dogfight in WW1 style biplanes. It would probably be nice
    Make them look like a WW1 biplane
    Only limitations are looks, and some full blocks, just shields and bracing peice thingies for the body
    Creative liberties can be taken with flight balancing
    Thats all da rules. Must be fun

    A dogfight with high speed projectiles. Bomb bullets, Gunpowder cannon railgun and the such ya'kno

    Video 44 of asking scrapman to do a skybase vs helicopters battle
    The skybase flies and defends itself whilst the enemy helicopter tries to take it down, first team to take down an enemy skybase wins!
    Obviously each team has one skybase and one helicopter, no rockets additionally, you could do a 2v2 with one person defending and or flying the skybase and one attacking the enemy skybase,
    Helicopters can attack either the enemy helicopter or enemy skybase!
    Please do this I’ve been asking for a while and I’d love to see this video, trust me it’s fun I’ve done it before👍
    Edit: also make it so both of the skybases hover at the same altitude

    Maybe if the smart cannon or something has a similar projectile speed to the boosted gunpowder cannons, you can put one on the plane - not so it can shoot, but the aimer will point in the right direction to lead the shot, and you can align the fixed aimer for your gunpowder cannons to the smart cannon's lead.

    What about a skyship dogfight?
    500-600 piece limit, 30-40 cores for propulsion/control surfaces, 5 guns.
    I've been loving all of these small single weapon skirmishes, but now I'd love to see a *war*

    if you time the canons symmetrically it wont throw off your controls. Also, a multiplayer airship galleon fight may be cool with this. Imagine broad-siding with those

    (video idea) a dog fight without without using wings as a source of lift. aileron and elevators can be used to help with stability and steering but cannot be used to create any sort of lift or help get off the ground

    I would suggest putting minithrusters under/behind the canons that go off at the same time as their respective canon. That way it negates some of the kickback of the canons.

    I think with the way the rockets were programed is to be like the cannons (tank and gunpowder) so that the auto aim and low speed could work better, which is why they dont speed up on top of your initial velocity like real ones and just add your velocity to their pre set velocity (hence why vackward facing rocket can just fall no velocity like the Mythbusters cannon test)

    you didnt realize that you can tune down the autoaim on guns. if the missles where over compensating, just tune the autoaim down, but not off

    Make a battle where you all make a build and then in each round you switch to someone else’s build or take turns all using the same build so you can try and add little sneaky things in that you know about but they don’t to get an edge or try and make the controls weird for them but manageable enough for you

    Cool idea: for a battle, make it to where all the weapons have a 1.5-second delay. That way, it's more difficult to hit.

    You can use pistons to speed up projectiles... but you can also slow them down. Tested that with rockets the other day, and ther results were... interesting, to say the least. Might be fun to see a match with slow, 0-aim rockets, like those old Worms-style tank games ye olde flash sites were full of.

    The solution to the recoil problem would have been to either make both sides fire at the same time, so that the recoil is symmetrical. Or to adjust the settings so that the pistons are extended for exactly 2/3 of a second, which would synchronize the retracting and expanding of two pistons on one side. Or both.

    You should do a multiplayer dogfight with the auto-aim off with all the weapons… maybe combine it with something else, like having a propeller push-pull fighter design like the Dornier Do 335? Or just a propeller pusher like the P-55 Ascender?

    A real scientist in the making. Ask a question, test it and see what's the outcome. Think it's called the "scientific method" or something like that.

    You could try stacking the cannons vertically along the center line of the plane to prevent the left right jostling. you could probably get away with three or four stacked cannons before the upper and lower cannons affect your vertical pitch negatively.

    I would be interested to see if using the firing order of a straight 6 engine would improve flight stability while firing, an example would be 1-5-3-6-2-4 rather than 1-6-3-4-2-5 which is your order if you represent piston one as the first in a cycle, the firing order has a massive impact on balance
    Would be great to see a video comparing the two

    Instead of the ship cannon you should use the tank gun. It should be lighter and I do not think it had as much recoil to it. I also think it does more damage. Also since you are increasing the speed is the recoil increased? Would this make recoil powered vehicles better?

    Would be interesting to see how fast they're going. Pretty sure they are faster than the rockets since being modified to fire like a laser lol.

    You know, watching a lot of your challenge videos, it's occurred to me that the heaviest handicap you can have when you're dogfighting is actually colliding with any one opposing force.
    Just as a thought, what if you built a flying vehicle that is actually built to not only to survive impact, but use it as a primary source of offence?
    It seems incredibly difficult just with how Scrap mechanic works, if not impossible, but just food for thought. B]

    Hey, ScrapMan! Remember that 1 time you tried to break the sound barrier with small propellers? Well now its actually possible! Before, the propellers had a hitbox of 2x5 blocks, but now its a 1x2 block hitbox. I tried to make a supersonic propeller plane and i mamaged to use 4 propellers. Can you use less than i did?

    it adds to thespeed of projectile so since the rocket is faster than gunpowder cannon it effects the cannon more since if we say gunpowdder cannon has 10 speed, rocket has 100 and this adds 100
    100+100 is just 2x initial speed while 10+100 is 11x the main speed

    try firing symetricaly. It'll decrease the fire rate, but it won't mess with the yaw.

    Wait, the way the speed gets added into the projectile, does that also apply to bullets?
    Not that it would be good, but I think it would be HILARIOUS to see this plane mounted with six miniguns.
    You'd need a LOT more thrust just to stay in the air though LOL.

    make a video where somebody builds a plane and somebody builds a remote controlled missile but the plane has a rocket or a minigun to protect itself and has to shoot the missile before it gets to the plane and to make it easier for the plane the missile has 2 explosives and the missile has a 10 power core limit and the plane a 20 power core limit in trailmakers

    with the shield-generators, you had destroyed two on the first attack & the stray bullets destroyed only the third one.
