    1. It's 225m which goes up to 270 IF* he makes All NBA or wins MVP (or DPOY) next year.
    2. He and Cade aren't 6'10 - Cade's 6'6 and Scottie's 6'8..
I feel like if you're on ESPN you should probably fact check.

They produce that money. The Nba players get 52% of the league's revenue.
Franchises are allowed to spend 25-35% of their salary for their best players. This rule is for small market teams to be able to keep their players.
In 5 years the salary cap is projected to be over 200mil. In couple of years this contract will not look so big.
If the NBA reduce the max contracts value they would have to pay role players more and that would kill competitivity.

Most of the other dudes in an NFL roster don't really do much.
If you're in the NBA, every player basically matters on your roster.

no. all of these contracts are based on percentage of cap and NBA years played. His extension for 4 years of service will be 25% of NBA cap, 30% if he is rose rule eligible (Makes all NBA team before year 6)
Assuming going off of veteran years earned, 0-6 gets 25% of cap 7-9 gets 30% of cap, 10+ years gets the Supermax, 35% of cap.
If signing a Free Agent, teams are limited to 4 years with 5% contract increase year to year, teams retaining their players (Bird Rights) can sign a 5th year, and 8% max raises year to year.
2026-27, Wemby 4th year, the cap is expected to be 153.5 million. Assuming he makes all NBA by then or wins DPOY or MVP, he will be eligible for 30% of cap, so floor salary will be (projected)
      Year 1 46.05
      Year 2 49.74
      Year 3 53.71
      Year 4 58.01
      Year 5 62.65
Total: ~270.16 mil, same as scottie Barnes projected contract, based on him making All NBA or MVP. If Scottie doesnt make that, the contract is closer to 220-230 million
The NBA cap would have to jump from current value to about 290 million to give a 30% player with 8% max raises an average contract value of 100m over 5 years, which is what youre claiming will happen with Wemby. Fawk no lol 🙅🏾‍♂ thats not happening in his playing career.
*The extension after his rookie max* aka 35% Supermax, may hit 360-400m, but not 500 with standard cap increases.

@@vintagepimpage6049 Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine, Jordan Poole, Bradley Beal, all exist. Cade Cunningham will get the same contract soon. Will you say the same thing about him? Scottie is 22 right now and already has made All-Rookie, ROTY, and All-Star. He lead his team in nearly all stats last year. This is a fine contract for a player of his calibre. He'll only be taking up 25% or less of the cap over the 2026-2023 period. That is good.
I also guranteee you Quickly will still be a raptor for a long time. Bruce Brown will get traded, and Jak will get traded in a few years probably. They will be fine especially if they land a lotto pick next year.

These guys are forgetting about TAXES! Wemby might have over a BILLION dollars in contracts for playing in the NBA but he’ll have to pay 37% of his contract to Federal Income tax and more in state income tax!
The State income tax paid is determined by the amount of games you play in those States. I.E. a Florida or Texas based NBA players get a bigger portion of their contract since they play over 50% of their games in a state with no income tax. Where a California or NY based player will pay an EXTRA 10-13% income tax for every home game played!
And then if you play in CANADA like Scottie you get a royal hockey stick up the rear end when it comes to paying taxes!

Honestly, NBA players are just more skilled overall than NFL players. There are less of them so it's harder to make it to the NBA than the NFL. As such, their pay reflects that. However, NFL players are tougher and play a tougher sport but that also means those contracts won't be guarenteed cuz of the injury risk. The NFL won't look to change that cuz they like to control the players. In contrast, the NBA is built on individual stars so it's a players league. It's really just that simple 💯
