    In 9 minutes the BEST interview with an NFL player I've heard. Kittle is a remarkable interviewee. I learned so much more from this interview because of the questions asked of him AND Kittle's fantastic, honest, straightforward answers. Just amazing! Kittle's point is great: that there are only 1500 players in the NFL, narrowed down from millions in youth and high school leagues, and maybe 100,000 in college. Hard to stomach, that given the violence of football, contract money is not big until 3-4 years into a player's career. What a racket for the owners!

    • @shect1
      @shect1 29 днів тому

      It's even crazier with the NBA, only 500 players in the league, and a lot more kids playing all over the world who want to get there. The NFL has larger rosters and it's mostly Americans who play it.
      Those 2000 spots (that's 53 per team + practice squad) in the NFL don't all open up every year, it's maybe a quarter of those spots that are available, maybe even less.

    This is very good. I'm European and have been watching soccer all my life, but a professional football player going out there, speaking openly on what is paid, wanting everyone to be paid well, and speaking up for the players that didn't have that luck, that's a proof of character. Here in Europe, soccer salaries are often hush-hush, even for transfer amounts (club to club payment for a player) it happens that the amount is kept secret. There are things I like more about European soccer though, like the open leagues (which they have tried to get rid off with a super league)

    • @SonofStormblessed
      @SonofStormblessed Рік тому +1

      There is not much that is truly secret here in the states. Especially when it comes to Sports. And Sports media is king here in the States when it cones to the media, and the NFL is the king of sports. And the whole "open league" thing would NEVER work here. I know we are a big country with a rather large population, but Europe has more then double the population of the states. And an NFL team has 53+ players for EVERY SINGLE TEAM. Their just isn't enough talent, or population dense enough areas to financially support a professional team. We do however have other leagues, that are "less then" the pros.

Or when you realize Capernick was black balled by the NFL and every “brotherhood” was looking out for themselves, just like any other job. They snitch to management, will try to have sex with your girl and not help you if you are struggling with the playbook. Brotherhood my azz!

A super reliable athlete....and at the runningback position (that almost never has a shelf-life outside of more than 5 years).... The man churned out 1000 yard seasons Back 2 back 2 back.... total Workhorse

    Also, you have to be significantly better than the crop of incoming college players to get a 2nd contract because signing a vetern to an extension has league minimum requirements. You have to be able to justify 2 3 times the pay of a guy on a rookie contract in a salary cap league.

    George Kittle is one of the real & likeable "characters" in sports these days. He seems like he's just "himself" all the time -- and he's a great player. It's the same with Charles Barkley; he says exactly what he thinks, tells it like it is, and we love him for it. I think athletes should take notice, that if they just show their personality -- instead of being careful about what they say, and talking in sports cliches -- people respond to that. Travis Kelce is another tight end who, like Kittle, has a fun-loving personality and shows it. Both are great players, who also seem like good guys who aren't prima donnas. We need more players like them.

    Kelce will make more money in the long run by taking less, now. He'll be on a better team for longer, have a longer career, garner more rings, and make more money after football. He could really cash in almost anywhere else, but then he would be on a weaker team with even more pressure to produce, take more bad hits, etc. Even though he gets a lot of targets, they don't force the ball to him. They have enough complementary threats to scheme him open in all kinds of different ways.
