@@jamalpasha7643 I wanted to make a video about the Gull Dong, but i was not able to find enough owners or breeders who would provide me with information about the breed and photos of the breed. So i can not promise you, that i will make a video about them any time soon..
Thank you very much for creating this video. I have three females who were all strays and through the years a good few others. They are wonderful animals and I love them dearly. They will touch your heart and can change your life. I cannot speak highly enough of them so it's nice to read other owners comments. The comments highlighting the terrible way these dogs are treated are also very necessary and need to be made for sure. Thank you. You have saved me the time of having to highlight those grim facts. So enjoy your time with your beautiful Pods everyone...and remember...One is not enough.
I recently adopted a Podenco Andaluz. She was highly traumatized when I got her. With a lot of love, house play she is now very comfortable in my apartment. Routine is beneficial. She loves to sleep on the sofa next to me. I still have problems with taking her out. She jumps with any unfamiliar noises which is constant because I live in a resort town. But little by little is has improved. If you have a similar situation, try getting it familiar with the noises through opening the windows or terrace. Above all, be patient with this beautiful breed. It will be your best friend! They are so worth it.
I'm in exactly the SAME situation as yours! I saw your comment was 10 months ago. I actually thought mine has some ear sensibility condition or something like that. Has she improved on going to walks? Thank you!
I have one of these. Very hard to find in America, but she wandered into my school, a sick and frail puppy. Took her home, got her through her sickness and she is the smartest and most playful dog I've ever seen. She likes to talk like a husky and go "woo woooooo!" when she wants a walk. She's 10 now and is still energetic, gets her daily walks and play time. Still loves to chase things with that high prey drive. I want another one when she's gone because she's just been a blast, so fun and sweet. But nobody has them here, not breeders or the pound or anything.
Hi, I am a dog trainer from Sweden. I highly recommend this breed for the active dog owners. The mid size podencos for instance, are absolutely fantastic dogs for modern dog sports like agility and heelwork to music. They are positive, sensitive, intelligent, alert and super fast, reactive dogs that makes them both easy and so much fun to train and they normally learn new skills very fast too. Such great dogs to work with 👌 Also very good companions for hiking, skiing and running. But do be aware of that very strong hunting instinct and keep them on a long tracking line to stay safe. They also often loves to interact with you using frisbees and tennisballs. So they can be taught to retrieve in order to play on the loose within well fenced areas and get some of that hunting need satisfied. But they are avid climbers and jumps super high, like a gazelle, so stay alert. I exercise on the loose only within very high fences. All and all, a fantastic sporting dog and a great companion for an active lifestyle. I also appreciate that they need very little grooming and are so easy to keep clean. Adore this breed and there are so many that need rescuing so DO consider adopting a rescue dog. I have and it has been so rewarding. 🙏♥️
I also agree. I have a purebred Podenca Andaluz medio and two Podenco mixed breeds. We do dog sports in a club, German variations of agility and obidience.
I recently adopted a Podenco mix in Sweden. I feel like I am totally unmatched when it comes to energy levels, and the high prey drive is not something to scoff at
We had a street dog who looked very similar to the podencos andaluz shown in this video. Unfortunately, we had to let him go last week, at the age of 14 years and 6 months. He loved to stay on the couch, and regular, but not very long walks (in the beginning we used to carry him half a mile away from our home, so that at least he had to walk this half mile back). We miss him so much.
I have a dog who was adopted from an agency in Spain. They said she’s half GSD, half Podenco but did not specify which type of Podenco. However she has the big typical Podenco ears. She has a very strong urge to chase small animals like squirrels, rabbits, and cats. Even when she sees them through the window, her ears extend fully up and she stares at them intently. Oh yeah she loves chasing balls that I throw which to her might be like chasing some animal. I think the half of her that is Podenco is Andaluz type.
As always, very helpful video! I have another video suggestion for you: maybe you could do a comparison video on the Podenco Andaluz, Cirneco dell'Etna, Ibizan Hound, Pharaoh Hound and Podenco Canario? I think it would really help to see their differences side by side, because they all look and act extremely similar!
Cute doggo! Maybe you can do a video of the Dosa Inu (Korean Mastiff) if you have time and find some info on the breed...Great video as always, cheers!
I was trying to make a video about Dosa Inu in the past, but i was not able to find any owners / breeders who would be able to send me photos and provide info about them.. I will try it once again in the future, but i can not promise anything. Generally it is pretty hard to find information about rare Asian breeds, since i dont understand any asian language and very often they do not understand languages i know.
Also to note they are often found by rescue charities as they are cruelly treated in their native Spain. If used for hunting they work only one season then they are killed, it’s tradition to kill them by hanging, poison or stoning, the more it suffers before it dies it’s believed to be good luck for next years hunting season. There is no laws in Spain to prevent this cruelty and the European Union does not get involved either.
Mutt comments welcome? We have a part podenco andaluz part ratonero. She is super loyal to her pack and hates when someone leaves. She is so sensitive to our emotions. Not only that, she cared for my elderly cat when he was in his last year. Kept him warm and licked him. Like the ratonero she doesnt like to bark. She will talk instead, which makes her look human, lol. The difference is that she has very little prey drive for bigger animals. I wonder if this crossbreed is common, or she is just a happy accident that turned out really well. She runs like a greyhound, she is so fast for her size, she is 8 kilos. The only issue is the single coat meaning she needs e sweater in the nordic winter.
I have an identical dog. But it is not Spanish - it was just adopted from West Africa, the Gambia, where they roam freely. What makes my dog an African wild dog, and yours a podenco?
I live in el campo de gibraltar where the podenco maneto is from, and i recently adopted one, can not recommend this breed enough and they really need the help as they are one of the most abandoned dogs in spain with barely any visibility. To anyone wanting to adopt one feel free to drop me a message and i can put you in contact with the right people.
I rescued 2 Andalusian Podenco from the streets of Spain to Scotland. The most beautiful dogs ive even seen and the reason I get up every morning. We can't bear to be without them any time so we have to take our vacations within the UK. We use the excellent charity "Spanish Stray Dogs" but there are some other fantastic podenco charities eg "Hope For Pidencos". Sadly they seem to be nothing more than disposable "tools" for many spanish people - resulting in a disproprionate amount of podencos in the Spanish dog pounds. I'd never purchase a dog while there's so many beautiful dogs needing adoption. And please never forget to have them re-registered on tne UK database when they arrive in tne country. So many have been abused and likely to be a flight risk when you first adopt them. And always remember your life commitment to them...and indeed every dog. "Don't Shop - Adopt!"🐕🦺
I have a podenco (on instagram: podenco.pruno). He is fearful and reactive outside but inside he is lazy, calm and best pet we can wish for. Everyone loves him ❤️ podencos are great! I wish people would stop abusing them.

I've had mine 11 years now, their hearing is very very sensitive. They don't like loud noises...even a car driving past can be uncomfortable to them.
