This is unbelievable! In a way, it is so quiet and understated. But it ticks every single box of what is ideal in our Indian classical music. The voice quality, the refinement, the absolute synchronization between the singer and the accompanists, the spiritual and intellectual connect with the lyrics, the self discipline, the aesthetic essay of swarams, the overall feel of listening to a veena concert in it's most pristine form; all this combine together to make this something truly unique and special. Members of the older generation who would be intimately familiar with the music of great masters like M.D.Ramanathan, Voleti, Puthukode and others, might be pleasantly surprised to discover that there is someone in the present who continues to uphold the sterling values that they embodied. God bless you Varma ji and your dream team. This video just made my day!
