Could it be the Dalmik semmering you are installing. It can, but asbestos ropes are better when properly installed and when the crankshaft does not have a large axial clearance. That semmering also seals well, but it can also cut into the crankshaft where the spiral oil deflector is.
That is your opinion. I have been using the rope seal for the last 35 years, and the updated version since it was released. And I never have any problems, with the to types of crank seals.
