"Why is he wearing a clock?"
So he can tell the people what time it is, boyeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
When rap and metal mix it’s a beautiful thing
The Bald guy is Scott Ian hes in Anthrax, Chuck D, Flava Flav and Terminator X are Public Enemy. Both are from the Queens/Long Island area in NY
You guys will love Anthrax: I'm The Man.
It would have to be the radio edit, version, for sure, but it might still has some grossness in it.
I just listened to that version. It still has a sexual reference in it. Other than that and the other nasty stuff, it's a really cool song, but still weird.
OMG... almost forget about that song, lol. I remember when that came out... good times.
The white guys are all in Anthrax. You were right and wrong. The original Public Enemy version came out in 88. Anthrax is a thrash metal band who loves Public Enemy. Both are New York based and had the same management company. So through that they met. Then Anthrax proposed doing a version of the song together. Public Enemy didn't know how that would work, but it did. The guy with the clock is Flava Flav. He is the hype man. But he is also a classically trained musician. You should hear him play piano.
For Public Enemy listen to Fight the Power. Warning though they are a bit militant.
Anthrax listen to I Am The Law. It is based on the comic book Judge Dredd.
Chuck D also said in an interview that he was either watching some videos or an awards show (can't remember which) were he saw Scott Ian wearing a Public Enemy t-shirt and he thought that was really cool. When either Scott or their management approached them for the collaboration they didn't hesitate because they knew they were huge fans
Judgement Night soundtrack is full of great Metal/Rap songs. Title track is Biohazard and Onyx. One of my favorites cd’s back in the day.
The bald guy is Scott Ian, Ge also played bass with the Supergroup which comprised of Rob Zombie, Slash, Tommy Lee and Ace Frehley. Actually during the 2006 VH1 Rock Honors show, the Supergroup open for KISS who was the winner of the VH1 Rock Honors Awards that year. Ace Frehley who is the original Lead Guitarist of KISS made his grand return to the music world at that show after battling some personal demons and together they performed one of KISS' signature songs "God of Thunder" in which Scott Ian who is a huge KISS fan played an Axe-shaped bass which is the signature shaped bass played by Gene Simmons from KISS.
The thing with Flava Flav wearing the clock . . . it was a brief fad in the 80's for rappers to wear a stopwatch around their necks (because the stopwatch went with the athletic theme of track suits and running shoes that were also in fashion). Replacing the stopwatch with the clock started as a joke - on Flav - but he liked it, so he kept it. It indicated that Public Enemy "knew the time" (were politically and socially clued-in), and after Flav got over his substance-abuse problems, he'd say that the clock reminds him that time is the most precious thing there is. Whatever the motivations, it made Flav instantly recognizable all over the world, and became an integral part of PE's image.
Fun Fact: Anthrax's guitarist Scott Ian, the bald one with the goatee, was a "walker" on an episode of The Walking Dead. He had so much fun doing it, he did it a second time. You can find a youtube video of him getting his make up done to play a walker. 😁
One of favourite bands ever are Anthrax! Still original line-up too! They're workaholics as i've seen them 21 times...they've literally played every festival i've been to, which is an amazing feat for them in itself! Public enemy I was very lucky to see them in the 90s when their albums & anger were strong!!
If you guys liked this then check out:
'Prophets of Rage'
They are a supergroup made up of:
Chuck D - Public Enemy
B-Real - Cypress Hill
DJ Lord - Public Enemy
Tom, Tim & Brad - RATM
If you like rap/rock duos, you should check out Aerosmith with Run Dmc doing Walk this Way. Classic stuff.
This was one of the most fun concerts I’ve ever been to... Anthrax and PE with Primus opening!
its about time you two review great music this was the frist mix of metal and rap music
I read Scott Ian's biography not too long ago. He's the founding member, rhythm guitarist and occasional rapper for Anthrax, the bald guy with the goatee. And the one in the band most fixated on rap and hip hop. While the video is presented as a collaboration, apparently the recording of the song in the first place wasn't. The track is Public Enemy's to begin with, sort of the opposite of Walk This Way where the tune was that of the rock band initially, and while Scott wanted to do the collaboration, timings didn't allow for it. So apparently all the Public Enemy vocals were lifted from the Public Enemy record and painstakingly edited into the version that Anthrax had come up with. And it was only after the event and the planned release as a single that the 2 acts got together to make a video to go along with the audio. They also then toured together afterwards, closing the shows with the 2 bands duetting on this track. I'm not familiar with the original PE song. I know Anthrax have done it on their own, you might even be able to find footage of them on a UK TV show called Hotel Babylon where they did Bring The Noise without Public Enemy. They had another appearance shortly after with (I think) a song of their own called Nothing.
claire, you didn't exist in the 90's the guy with the goatee is, scott ian he is a member of anthrax
oh yeah, the dude who married Meat Loaf's daughter LOL
@@chrisstory563 indeed
He's actually the guitarist surprisingly. You would think it would be the lead singer but nope.
And use to be an active member of the the group Stormtroopers of Death/Method of Destruction with Billy Milano as front man
LMAO 💀@ didn't exist in the 90's
Props to your pops for showing you this one. Ask him about 'Starting up a Posse' and 'Fight the Power'
I'm supposed to be working right now, but I saw this in my YT feed and it must be watched! This song brings back memories - one of the earliest mash-ups of metal and rap. Also check out "I'm The Man" by Anthrax - metal band doing rap. Classic stuff.
UA-cam is being a pain in the butt, apparently... So many other reactions to this song have been up for months, with no UA-cam issues... Good on dad for his persistence, but UA-cam should hold the same standards for everybody... Just my opinion... Fare is fare, just sayin.
This song is one of the early examples of Hiphop and rock meshing together. It’s proof that music is the true universal language. It can bring those of different backgrounds together, in harmony... Love the collaboration..,
You guys are just awesome to watch. Btw, Scott Ian, the bald guy in Anthrax, is married to Meatloaf’s daughter, Pearl. She’s also a singer...
Keep up the great reactions... And UA-cam..., play fare.
There's other reactions to Zeppelin songs that don't get blocked too. Go figure 🙄
@@paulkelso6690,
So is this why a new video hasn't come out? The Led Zeppelin video got blocked?
I thought it was an issue on my end. I keep getting the videos, late, by a day or so.
I have the notifications turned on, but I also don't get the difference in the two types of notifications.
Yes, zep has always been super strict like that. You will get a notice, then if it gets blocked in the meantime the thumbnail will turn grey and it won't work. Their dad does try to re upload sometimes then it stays up. But more LZ would be so cool. ✌️
The guitarist with the goatee is from Anthrax
Chuck d is one of the most sampled voices especially in electronic music (Gabba hardcore)
You have to do more Anthrax! They were big fans of the Judge Dredd comics back in the day. So they wrote a song to honor Judge Dredd, the song is called - I Am The Law! 😁
I would humbly suggest that their education cannot be considered complete without some Queen. In the following order (for impact you understand):
1. Another One Bites the Dust
2. Love of My Life/Is This the World We Created - Live in Rio
3. We Will Rock You/ We Are the Champions
4. Somebody to Love
And of course
5. Bohemian Rhapsody
Another great job! Keep up the good/ great work.👍🏼
I love this Rap & Metal collaboration with Anthrax & Public Enemy i really loved your reaction Claire & Walker and yes this a classic 90 's collab anyways keep up the great reactions Claire & Walker i can't wait to hear what you react to next !!!!!!!
Yeaaah booooiii
One of my favorite collaborations. I love old Anthrax but be careful about what songs you listen to. Most are not kid safe heh.
"The Complete Rock Family Trees" Peter Frame - a second-hand copy will set you back about $100. The current edition is up until ? 1999 but will certainly inform your earlier music origins
Along the lines of rap and metal, check out Within Temptation with Xibit. Song is call "And We Run". Fantastic song.
I love watching your reactions to these it's priceless!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I put a cuckoo clock on a chain link necklace and wore it back in the day because I admired Flavor Flav so much. It really wrecked my back.
Honesty is the best policy. Always! Thank you C&W.🎧🎧
4th different spot. are you getting this??? I did reply to your comments.
@@chriso6719 I got this one. Didn't get replies to last ones. Sounds like you saw them?🎧🎧
@@jeffschielka7845 yea , I saw them and replied to them. Wasn't sure if anything was going through, so I left comments in 4 different spots. lol
@@chriso6719 Reply here.🎧🎧
@@chriso6719 My comments aren't going through.🎧🎧
I would recommend RED. They're a great post-grunge/hard rock band with some AWESOME songs! I would say Feed the Machine, Darkest Part or Gave it All Away. All fantastic songs!
Everytime young kids mention anthrax and public enemy, im like hi welcome to the 90's in a nutshell
Thanks again for sharing your reaction, you guys are great! To answer your question...Flavor Flav has said "The reason why I wear this clock is because it represents time being the most important element in our life," he said. "Time can't afford to be wasted, but not only that, but God only gave us one life. Each minute we live, we got to live each second to our best value. Time brought us up in here, and time can also take us out."
What happened to the other post? It’s a great reaction video. Love how you two are open to music of previous decades. I was hoping y’all would let out a big “Yah boi” though 😂
I have never heard this song before. Definitely a catchy tune! Great review as always. Take care and stay awesome! Also, don't forget to get a glimpse of Mars through the 'ol telescope, preferably tomorrow if possible! It's in opposition, meaning it is nice and close to Earth. :)
Wow..you never heard this song before? And yes, we need to get out tomorrow and look at Mars.
YES BACKYARD 🤟 Anthrax rule!! 😋
@@pookievision Sup Pookie!
It's so cool to see people my age(17) listening to music that most people think is just straight bad, but this music puts soul and emotion into each and every song and I just can't get that with modern day rap. Thanks for keeping this generation rocking!
Edit: Also this is different from metal but I recommend checking out The Eagles with songs like life in the fast lane, in the city, one of these nights, and take it easy
It wasn't too surprising Public Enemy would mix well with metal. Listen to She Watch Channel Zero off their album It Takes A Nation of Millions... to see what I mean. They had some interesting sounds going on.
Interesting side note. Ian Scott, who is in Anthrax and has the chin beard and rapping, married Meatloaf's daughter. I know you guys have done reactions to meatloaf and enjoyed.
Who else had a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 flashback?
This is not metal, this is rap. By the way, PE has a new record out. I need to give it a more thorough listen, but right now, I would say it is no where close to their classic albums. Plus, it was disappointing that almost every song had multiple cuss words in it. Flavor Flav wears a clock because he is telling you what time it is. Chuck D and Flavor Flav are both black.
Sad that artists can't seem to make music without bad language. I wonder if they feel like they are trying to keep it real, but in reality they are adding that language to try and be relevant.
@@3YearsApart1613 if artists do it occassionally to show intense anger, I can deal with it. In this case, it seemed forced. They cussed because they can. Using the "n" word has its separate debate.
One more time for dad roll tide roll. Impressive win vs Georgia.
Yeahhhhh Boyyyyyyy! Flava Flav!
Never heard this version.. nice
Great song choice to react to, I had never heard that one before. Good job guys!! 😀👍
You guys should react to Paul Gilbert guitar solo live in Tokyo
Oh man. Anthrax has been around about as long as Metallica my favorite Anthrax song is "Got The Time" I've always thought that rap groups getting together with rock groups-RUN DMC and Aerosmith-or collaborated with metal bands, led the way for bands like P.O.D and Rage Against the Machine and even Linkin Park who blurred the lines between hip hop and metal. Don't know if you two would be down for it, but there was an 80's rap group called Newcleus who had a really popular song called "Jam on It" it's still a favorite.
Damn ... never thought I'd miss 90's music! 🤣😂🤣😊🖒❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Any plans for a Halloween live stream?
If so I have a few suggestions.
Anthrax was a good band. If you should so choose to, Caught In a Mosh is a great Anthrax song. There's a couple of live versions that rock out.
Flaaaavaa Flav!
Hi Kiddos and Dad... I just got home from watching my Alabama Crimson Tide beat Ole Miss. Yes I’m an Alumni from the University of Alabama... I see your Dad is a Florida fan. To bad Texas A&M beat them... Anyway so glad y’all are listening to all kinds of music. If y’all have a chance please listen to one of my favorite bands.... The Band is called auto craft.! And the Ramones... you’re Dad would probably know what I’m talking about. And please let me know what y’all think....
Fury of the storm: Dragonforce
Yes please . Live or Studio version ? They're both great .
The guy this boy is describing with the weird hair was "Coolio"
Hey new here!! Wanna really be blown away go watch Zakk Wylde play Mississippi Queen on acoustic guitar!! Zakk is the guitar player for Ozzy Osbourne! He also has his band Black Labe Society!! Y'all keep rocking and have a awesome week!!🤘🎸🤘
The next song you both should listen to is "Hotel California" by the Eagles
If you guys like rap metal, I would like to suggest listening to Bawitdaba by Kid Rock (everything else by Mr Rock has cuss words in it), and Rage Against the Machine! Both artists were huge in the 90's.
Did Walker just tease a Beautiful People reaction?
Yes,I'm the man,there is a radio edit,I had the maxi single when I was Claire's age!🙏🙏🙏
Yea boi!
Nice bit of retro... Anthrax...public enemy ♥️🖤♥️🖤🎧🎧🎵🎶🔥..check out Clawfinger and their Album ..Deaf, Dumb, blind. 🔊🔉🔈. And turn it up..cuz they bring the noise. 🤣🤣🤣..great reaction/analysis guys . 🔥🔥🔥..sending safe and healthy wishes from a very wet UK..🖤♥️🖤♥️
I actually met Flavor Flav at a restaurant in Las Vegas and he picked up tab really nice guy.
Y'all should look into a band called Phish. They're the biggest band you've never heard of.
hello claire and walker how are you my name is isaac i would like you to see the video of falling in reverse popular monster greetings
Still waiting for Dream Theater! lol ...love the videos. Keep them coming!
I'm going to comment again. Such a bummer about youtube.
This is such a pretty cool song! Rap and metal work well together! 😆
Hi, I am one of your new subscribers from Afghanistan and I currently live in France and I follow your channel very much and I like it very much and all I ask of you is that one of the great and popular Afghan singers named Davood Sarkhosh And Dawood Sarkhosh has millions of fans in Afghanistan and abroad, and please make a video about one of Davood Sarkhosh's readings, and I like Davood Sarkhosh very, very much. If you make a video of it and comment on it; Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏👊👊👊👍👍👍😘😘💐 @ Sarkhoshmusic inc (in UA-cam)
Why was the video covered at times with the album cover?
Beastie Boyz. Gotta check them out.
OMG i jsut realized you guyz didn't react to Great Van Fleet yet. Sure it's not oldschool, but in a way, it is
mom who is farakkhan ?
some guys in music video said i ought to listen to him
Never badder than bad cause the brother is madder than mad
At the fact that's corrupt as a senator
Soul on a roll, but you treat it like soap on a rope
Cause the beats and the lines are so dope
Please react to Moscow Music peace festival Jam 1989
Joey didnt want to rap LOL. IMO Pistol Grip Pump by Rage against the machine is the best rap/metal hybrid .
I miss your intro, but I enjoyed your talk afterwards.
You kids are so cool 😎
a little shift of genre compared to this video, but you two should check out Dire Straits' Sultans of Swing (the Alchemy concert). You'll not regret it lol :D
Please react to Pink Floyd's - Run Like Hell from PULSE Concert 1994
I think you're ready for some Frank Zappa. Start with "Inca Roads": watch?v=wqp71DOJ3aY
Lot's of instruments and sounds and crazy visuals...
Oh! That "repetition" you often hear in music is called ostinato (many music terms are italians, from when Italy kicked a$$ in music, culture and style) and it's a very important part of many musical pieces 'cause it's the ground - or a treadmill - for other instruments to build upon.
Next reaction to Domination by Pantera. Thx for videos, you are so funny
Maybe check out some nirvana
You guys do guns n roses Paradise City
You want some more Anthrax goodness? Try Madhouse, Indians, I am the law, anti-social, And my personal favorite caught in a mosh. I hope you enjoyed Anthrax and maybe you can react to Slayer? Maybe?
I have binge watching you guys you guys are awesome you're funny have you thought about listening to some Steve Vai pretty good not as good as Eddie but top five at least
We need more Dragonforce reactions if you can . Edge of the World or The Game would be cool to see the new singer Marc Hudson . The original singer ZP Theart (which you've heard in Through the Fire and Flames) Heroes of our Time or Operation Ground and Pound or Fury of the Storm are awesome songs . Live versions you need to check for the 2015 performance of Fury of the Storm it's so awesome . There's too many great songs by them
Walker would like that idea because he really likes dragonforce
@@3YearsApart1613 forgot to say this . But FYI , you might need the lyrics video if you do Edge of the World . There's a special part in the song where he does some death metal like growls for the first time. Just in case they can't understand what he says . Lol .( And don't worry . They don't swear . They don't say anything graphic like Cannibal Corpse does . It's about the Epic of Gilgamesh which is like a type of Religion and it's pretty epic . It's an adventurous song )
Ha 5:42 Walker lest slip that he's a closet Marilyn Manson fan.
Let's just say before there was Limp Bizkit there was Suicidal Tendencies if you like rap/metal you'll probably like this not saying ST is rap but you'll see what i mean when you hear it try Send Me Your Money, Alone, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today...there's better song's by ST but trying to think of clean one's for you guy's
If you like rap and metal then give Faith No More a try.
Please react to demolisher by slaughter to prevail
React kiss talk to me
You should react to Polyphia. It’s not old, but they are more “your age”
They have a song called James Franco. IMHO that’s where prog rock is going nowadays.
Sometimes it helps if you pause the video when you are reacting.
used to do that early in the channel, but people wanted us to not stop and comment. Which we ended up liking. But now it seems like almost a necessity.
@@3YearsApart1613 Check out The Lost Vagas channel. They get around it. Plus people need to understand how UA-cam works
@@3YearsApart1613,
Yeah. They miss important parts of the song, when they don't pause. I'm confused on which way is almost a necessity, now.
Here's a key: anybody playing actual instruments is probably not a part of a rap group. 🤣
Beastie Boys:
Hold our 🍻
Johnny cash?
should react to aerosmith and run dmc
dt770pro ^^
I have two great songs for you to react to. The first is a mix of metal and rap that I am sure that Claire will love and the second, well who doesn't love chocolate lol just be warned Babymetal is from Japan so the words are in japanese.
Babymetal is so unlike all the metal you have heard so far for sure.
BABYMETAL - PA PA YA!! (feat. F.HERO) (OFFICIAL) ua-cam.com/video/oO7Y8NsnkRg/v-deo.html
BABYMETAL - Gimme chocolate!! (OFFICIAL) ua-cam.com/video/WIKqgE4BwAY/v-deo.html
And this was the one of starts ( with the exception of Aerosmith/RUN D.M.C. Walk this way ) when rap and rock got meshed together. Today? It’s rap and pop mixed with rock and country... unfortunately in my opinion.. was the downfall of most modern music. It’s funny though with most younger people acted like bands like limp biskit started it all( rap/rock)
Probably not my cup of tea, too much rap. Songs composed like this tend to make me sick and anxious 😁 But anyway thanks for your effort Claire and Walker. Looking forward to Led Zeppelin on Wednesday. Cheers!
The way things are going with blocks, I am not feeling good about Led Zeppelin.
@@3YearsApart1613 You got Prince through. Prince used to be notorious for blocking uploads of his songs. I was surprised when reactions to Prince songs weren't getting blocked. Led Zeppelin may be a different story. Consider it a challenge.
The truth is, UA-cam needs to relax with this blocking. UA-cam needs to eat snickers 😁
@@3YearsApart1613 Stay positive dad!🎧🎧
