  • Hi guys,
Uppsala domkyrka or Uppsala’s Cathedral is such a beautiful piece of art! I have visited this cathedral more than 10 times for sure. It is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia, located in Uppsala, 60 km North of Stockholm.
One of the reasons I love visiting this cathedral is because is Gothic architecture and, the Gothic style is my favorite (literature, architecture, paintings). It is so stunningly impressive I can't get enough of it.
So, if you have an opportunity to visit Uppsala in Sweden, please, visit Uppasala domkyrka! You won't regret it!
I hope you like and enjoy this video where I captured some stunning images!

It's worth mentioning that the majority of the church got it's modern neo-gothic appearance in the 1880s, when Swedish architect Helgo Zettervall redesigned the entire church and basically tore down the old towers. There are photos (from the 1860s I think) that show what the church looked like before the big renovation. That was not the original design either though

The organist was playing "Fanfar for the commmon man" (i think it was Franz Liszt who wrote that) When you was in Uppsala you should have vist old uppsala. From the viking age, there are a knon monument called Uppsala högar. or in english uppsala hills. it is a berrial monument for trhee viking kings and there are also the famous runstone, Rökstenen and a museum that explains all about old uppsala.

It was not so long ago that no one was allowed to build houses that were higher than the foundation of the castle to preserve the silhouette of the castle and the cathedral and it is visible in the distance in almost all directions. Then the church which is located in the same place 100m from the entrance is even older as it was the church that was used during the time when the cathedral was built.
Recommends visiting the botanical and the view from the castle (which was the Swedish king's home a long time ago) and the university which was founded in 1477 but also visiting Old Uppsala mounds and church and also the museum next door
(but do not fly with drones there as it is close to the airport)
but all these things are better in the summer

Don't worry Jane, I am not good at French either despite growing up speaking some of it. The French was coming back to me and I enjoyed learning Spanish because I like a lot of Latino Urban pop. It was hard for me just to settle and stick with just two languages for now by going back to the Swedish and Russian for the next few years.

French is the language I speak the least, but I have B2/C1 level, can easily read and understand it. I think is such a beautiful language, sounds so so gorgeous!

@@JaneG I think, French is okay. It is beautiful but I think it’s a little overhyped. I melt when, I hear Spanish lol. Maybe in a few years, I will take French again. I would like to have it for job purposes, help younger family members, and it’s a bridge between other languages.

@@MDobri-sy1ce Yes, Spanish is the third or fourth most spoken language in the world which is amazing. Love Spanish too!

They almost never play the big organ which is kinda sad, i wished they would blast the sound of all pipes over Uppsala

It would be neat if you took the Russian word for Home "дома" and mash it up with the Swedish word for church "Kyrka" домащирка to mean "home church." I know that is not how language rules generally work though.
