What you haven't learned yet with us Swedes is that thanks to the dark and cold time of the year, we appreciate and do more during the bright and warm time of the year. For those who have more light and warmth all year round, they appreciate it just as much, but they take it for granted. This means that we Swedes are happier and more for enjoying in peace and quiet, we want to have lungs to be able to enjoy more.

That I can agree with, especially after experiencing the Swedish darkness and winter.

It is always so nice to listen to you Jane. I guess the biggest difference between the southern eu countries and usa is that we don´t have that fraternety thing where people seems to bond. That is why there is so difficult getting swedish friends if you are not an scandinavian. Instead to get friends here you get friends if you join a club, or if you can play a instrument. You start a band. But we do not have that "fraternety thing"

Thank you for the nice words! Glad to read that you like listening to me.
I think it just takes time to make Swedish friends, that's all :)

Regarding Stefan's comment about not leaving his phone: when I first moved to the north of Sweden (where I still live) I got to know a married couple that would regularly leave their house (!!) and go shopping in the next town. This in itself is nothing unusual, but they did it without locking the doors of the house!
Over time I had got used to just entering their house, without knocking on the door, and announcing my presence when I entered the kitchen via the back door. And the first time I noticed that the house was empty (apart form me) was rather worrying! I was starting to wonder if something had happened, if I should stay there till they got home, or if I should just leave the house as quietly as I had come.
And, in the same town, most people would park their cars and leave the keys in the ignition lock. Some would take the key with them, but not lock the car (this was before the days of key fobs and electronic car door locks) because there was nothing of value in the car and having to lock and unlock the doors was an unnecessary pain.

OMG, not locking the doors of your house and just leave? No way! That is crazy to just leave things unattended, no matter how calm and small the town is.

Thanks both of you, nice to se you in the same video!
Its this, I dont think that swedes/sweden is more difficult then any other western country or population?
Take us togheter and compare us to spain or southern USA, then we probably seems to be more introvert/reserved?
After living in sweden for several years, one probably adapt one self, and understand our strange behavior?
Strange for someone thats used to living in a varm and sunny place year around!
Soo, the "semester" is holy.. everyone is by law admitted at least 4 weeks of payd vacation in a row, june to august!
The fifth week is for induvidual use, many flyes to Spain, other goes to ski resorts!

Good for you, but all of what you said about opportunities does not hold good for person of color, it's a never ending struggle

@@JaneG I get that, leaving your home country isn't easy. I tried living in Scotland and while I loved it, Sweden kept calling me to come home.
So I get it. If there is ever anything I can do. Don't hesitate to ask. :)

How nice of you! I had to adapt in two different countries: Spain and now Sweden. I think I'm well- trained haha. I must say adapting in Sweden is harder than if you adapt to Spain.
