Yes, you're very correct. Consistency matters alot when it comes to channel growth, my channel is 6 month old and i got over 30 videos and 70 shorts, and there are people who have done even more within this period and it paid off.

When UA-cam started getting traction I was still in high school. 07-08 years and some few years before. That being said, the algorithm back then was very different. In fact some would say it rarely intervened in content. The metrics for a videos success back then was contingent on likes and views. That being said, there have been many creators who have used that metric to grow their UA-cam channels. Not all, but. many did cheat to get likes and views from persons so that the formula would push their content. UA-cam was also less corporate at the time, meaning GOOGLE was not involved in UA-cam etc. The creators back then that have made it, creators, as in, not a person that has one video that goes viral. That is not a creator. A creator is someone, who has a certified niche, that they follow on their channel weekly, OR REGULARLY to the point where they develop and audience, a fan base and a following that will support them. UA-cam is 50% approach, 50% realism. The way you approach UA-cam NOW has to adjust with the way UA-cam IS NOW versus how it was back then ! Viral videos, based on research are not what you want. Why? Because viral just means one video performed well, people liked it, watched it and now your forever forgotten, it's like a lighthouse, round and round we go. A niche, a steady content flow guarantees you will find a TARGET AUDIENCE. If you stay patient, and you continue to follow that rhythm, your page will succeed OVER TIME! Having quick success isn't all it is hyped up to be. As you grow on your channel, keep in mind you are growing with real actual people. So a variety of things will affect how fast you grow, when you grow, and who you will grow with. As an example, I am going to use my channel. It was created last year. I started at 0 subscribers. Currently I have 566. I cover all school news, and movie reviews. That's my niche. My friend started a gaming channel last year a month after me. He games for his niche, but he does not talk, and he does not show himself. He only has 393 subscribers. The point, every channel grows at the effort YOU put into it. People are not easily fooled. They know what a hardworking channel looks like, versus one that just wants quick shot fame. FOCUS NOT ON THE SUCCESS OF UA-cam BUT THE PEOPLE. That was where UA-cam started. It was a video share service FOR PEOPLE. That principle may be blanketed under so many aspects of the network today. But it still is the foundation of why people come to UA-cam. Therefore as REAL CREATORS we FOCUS ON THE PEOPLE. Each Individual, and how your channel can best serve their needs. Generally, when you get down to the research, the average UA-camR has been on the platform for over 10 years before they received, recognition and success. For those loving this as a hobby and not expecting anything out of it; the time flies, but if we constantly chase the numbers, and focus on the views, and the likes, and the fame, and the comparisons, our channel versus his or hers. We will miss out on the vital in between steps needed to be able to succeed on UA-cam. Don't count the first year you were on UA-cam. That technically is a trial year, as the algorithm needs time to know who you are and where best to put your videos. Keep steady, Stay Focused, Love the people and growth is inevitable. Do worry about chasing the algorithm, replace the word algorithm with audience you’re not chasing the algorithm you are just putting out content that the audience will love, you need to stop listening to these people who making you feel bad for wanting more views on your video
The main reason why I subscribed to you (in fact probably the only reason) is because of how honest you are and raw in this video. UA-cam can be tough and as a new creator I totally understand what you’ve said in this vid. Don’t give up. My ch is 5 mo old and it’s been so slow but I do enjoy vlogging b/c it makes me feel like I’m journaling just, more advance. And I LOVE journaling. Anyway, I don’t really have much engagement but then this 1 person really resonated because we’re so similar and it really does make such a difference to know that a random stranger can really related to you. My own honest review after almost 1 year on UA-cam with under 100 subscribers: I don't care about the algorithm, I don't care about my channel's stats, analytics, I upload videos when I want to, I don't look at when my audience is online, I don't expect to make any money from it, and I don't bother about that. I just like to make walking videos and audio videos and put them on UA-cam in the hope that one other person will find it interesting. If by some miracle there is a bigger audience, then great, if not, no big deal.

When I saw your title, I decided to check why your channel is where it is. You do lifestyle, the chances of getting monitized quickly is slow. Focus on one niche. You're posting random content. Let the algorithm understand your channel. Okay run this experiment. Create a new channel post on one niche that you know well probably relationship. Something on how guys can get into a healthy relationship and what to do. Post 25 videos there if you can do 3 times a week that's two months. Then compare it with this channel. I'm number 376 and I look forward to seeing your result from the experiment.
Finding a focus / niche is #1. Your channel has a bunch of different topics, so a person that might subscribe wouldn't be sure what to expect next. Find your focus & create, continuously educate yourself on how to get better & create, then it will begin to click.

My ch is 5 mo old and it’s been so slow but I do enjoy vlogging b/c it makes me feel like I’m journaling just, more advance. And I LOVE journaling. Anyway, I don’t really have much engagement but then this 1 person really resonated because we’re so similar and it really does make such a difference to know that a random stranger can really related to you. Maybe that’s just me but it feels like I’m “her people” and she’s “my people” and that’s a fun feeling. Good luck ❤❤❤

I think consistency is the one thing I noticed after checking your channel. The same is happening to our channel so we took a long break and will soon be back so strong.
I just subscribed. The fact that you have 33 videos over a period of 2 years and you have over 800 subscribers is actually great. I think if you post once a week, you'll get more subscribers faster. As a viewer I'd be interested in hearing about your life challenges and how you navigate life. For example , what stops you from posting on youtube regularly. I think so many people would be able to relate to you. It would encourage you as well as your audience. It would encourage me. I can hear your spirit has a lot more to say. Bring it out...

My own honest review after almost 1 year on UA-cam with under 100 subscribers: I don't care about the algorithm, I don't care about my channel's stats, analytics, I upload videos when I want to, I don't look at when my audience is online, I don't expect to make any money from it, and I don't bother about that. I just like to make walking videos and audio videos and put them on UA-cam in the hope that one other person will find it interesting. If by some miracle there is a bigger audience, then great, if not, no big deal.

When I saw your title, I decided to check why your channel is where it is.
You do lifestyle, the chances of getting monitized quickly is slow.
Focus on one niche. You're posting random content. Let the algorithm understand your channel.
Okay run this experiment.
Create a new channel post on one niche that you know well probably relationship. Something on how guys can get into a healthy relationship and what to do.
Post 25 videos there if you can do 3 times a week that's two months. Then compare it with this channel.
