That's correct, you can't have IN1/2 and IN3 in channels 1 and 2 or 3 & 4. The best solution to your problem would be to get a 3.5mm to XLR adapter and run that in to the second XLR input. That will give you both mics on channel 1 & 2 for headphone monitoring and HDMI output.

It's a shame the FX3 doesn't give you independent audio input control for the basic mic jack. Through a Deity shotgun mic I can actually send another input source in via the jack which is great. However the input level is locked to both channel 1 and 2 together, no seperate control.
Hi Steve. Yes if using 4 channel audio you’re stuck with the single level control for the 3.5mm input. One option you do have if only using two channels though is to split the 3.5mm stereo signal and send one channel to one of the XLR inputs via an adapter. As you say though, adding left / right channel levels on the handle would have been a lot more flexible.
I can't find the audio recording setting anywhere. I checked online but I have no idea what to do to see them in my menu. Could somebody help me with that?

@@PaulJoy If you can make videos how to create a superb video with FX3 as yours, that will be awesome :) Picture Profile, XAVC-i, Catalyst, HDR Gamut (Library), 264 (Project), Final Cut Pro Exporting Option For UA-cam etc. I have already subscribed to your channel.
Question: Is it normal to have hissing sound from the input 1 and 2 event it has no mics plug in?
Yes that can happen if the gains are turned up. It shouldn’t be that noticeable though! If it is then it me be external interference plating a part.
Thank you! @@PaulJoy
Very useful and concise. Subscription.
Thanks loads, glad it helped.
As you say though, adding left / right channel levels on the handle would have been a lot more flexible.
when im having one xlr mic how many channels is best in camera settings?
2 channels, you can record the mic on to both of them at different levels or just have them the same.
@@PaulJoy thank you for your reply.
I can't find the audio recording setting anywhere. I checked online but I have no idea what to do to see them in my menu. Could somebody help me with that?
I literally show that in this video, which camera are you using?
I’m sure you can record 4 channels of audio to the ninja v. I have inadvertently done this before and had to delete them in post as I was only using 1 mic. Might be worth looking into..
Thats interesting, I don't own a Ninja V yet but I'll definitely check that out when I get chance. Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah when u figure it out let us know
@@KenSambury Just looking at the Ninja V now and as far as I can see it only receives 2 channels from the FX3. You can also connect a mic directly to the ninja to do 4 channel audio though.
@@PaulJoy ok thanks
What would a good mic for the fx3 be
What are you planning to use it for?
50 mil looks great, I'm jealous :)
My fave lens for interviews now, use it all the time.
This video should be goated. I only thought you can use only 2 inputs on the top handle. Thanks
Glad I could help
Awesome!! best on youtube on this topic!!

with a quick test it didnt work, ill take a sunday morning to test this in all detail.
Good luck, some of the menu’s have changed since the update but the same steps should get you there.
🎬🎬🥂❤👍
No matter what I do the ride go doesn’t record anything into the camera. Frustrated. Smh.
A couple of things to check, is the audio handle switched on? (Power switch on the left side of the handle). Also have you go the input set to in3?
@@PaulJoy handle set to on. Yes. Input was set to 1 trying to use the features of the handle connected the wire to xlr input. I’ll try it on 3 this evening and see. I need to be able to record 2 ppl kind of simultaneously but on individual channels so I figured this was a slam dunk. No luck yet 🤣. I’ll figure it out and a lot more now that I found your page!!! Will update later this evening
@@TooMuch_TV So if you're just using the Rode with two transmitters feeding input 3 then you need that switch set to IN 3 and you don't need 4 channel recording. If you're trying to use the rode at the same time as an XLR input (1 or 2) then you need to use 4 channel recording with the switch set to IN 1. See 2:00 in the video.
@@PaulJoydid exactly as video shows. Only shotgun records. Rode just humming sound. I see all 4 channels on camera but no audio from rode. Starting to think these are defective.
@@PaulJoyok. So I figured out the problem it’s the RODE ITSELF. I just plugged in my saromonic blink. Flawless instantly works. Damn. I’ll send the roses back!!!! Smh. Well good thing is I can get the newer pro version now. Instead of the go2 🤷🏽♂️
