- I had my big plan for August all laid out, I was properly on it........and then came a spanner in the works..........but I'm glad of the spanner, the spanner has given me a bit of a shake up.......August will be different and I can't wait! It is going to be the weirdest holiday ever.

Short videos sounds like a great idea. As a regular viewer I enjoy all that you already do. Re cooking videos: you have reliable information on food values, vitamins, minerals etc. also how to add herbs and spices for flavour. I enjoy oatmeal much more with cinnamon for example. Best of luck with August, be kind to yourself.

I can understand so well how you feel about your migraines. I only spent six days indoors and spent many hours in bed because it was so bad this time.
I haven't finished watching your video yet, I'm still right in the middle of it.
I find your decision very reasonable to cut back on UA-cam and to focus on sewing. And now your sewing machine is on strike.
In Germany they say: "If it comes, then it will get fat!" Which means so much, if something goes wrong, not just a little, but right.
Don't you have anyone with your garden friends or with your neighbors who can borrow a sewing machine until yours is repaired? - That would be my suggestion so far.
So now I'm going to finish watching your video, then I'll get back to you.

Sounds as if you've got lots to do in August Vivi. Self-care is always a good idea. I hope your sewing machine can be repaired, but if not, please know that you have friends who would be happy to contribute to the purchase of a new one. Perhaps also an ergonomic sewing machine table / work station, since you'll be spending so much time sewing.
Oh thank you lovely......fortunately I have funds set aside just in case my machine isn't repairable... :-)
Enjoy your "holibob" Vivi, much as I love keeping up with your videos it willl give me a chance to dip into the back catalogue. The idea of little 10 minutes or so visits on a more frequent basis is lovely, a guilt free sit down with tea and telly, just what a busy person needs. I understand how you must feel about losing the sewing machine for that time, when my big Janome goes for her service I almost pace the floor. My other half was so fed up with me that a couple of years ago he bought me a small Singer to "tkeep me calm"!. Fingers crossed that all goes well at the repair shop.

UA-cam has definitely changed over the years. Please continue your videos even if it’s short videos..no pressure🙂😂 One things I’ve learned. Keep life simple as you can. Take your time doing jobs. Nothing has to be finished in one day. That one has been the hardest for me. Slow and steady wins the race. You can’t wait for August and I can’t wait for that Fall air to come. It’s been boiling here too. Take care of yourself Vivi and I hope your head feels better soon.✌🏼❤️

When my Singer went out, it cost more to fix it than it cost to buy an inexpensive Brother's sewing machine. I have been so happy with this machine. Even though it only cost 75.00 us dollars, it works better than both Singer's did.
I did that too! Nothing fancy but gets the job done. I've seen the Brother machines go even lower in price at times.
Oh my goodness that's so cheap......I'll bear that in mind if they can't fix mine. :-)
Giving yourself a break is brilliant - especially with your impending migraine. There are a few very good UA-cam channels where you can learn the way the UA-cam algorithm works and if you’re going to take time out, why not focus on the business of UA-cam & come back stronger than ever ?

My migraines started whilst I was going through the menopause, so I reckon it was hormonal. Now I'm through the other side my migraines have stopped (hooray!). And taking Feverfew was the only thing that brought me relief. There is hope that they will go away... eventually 😊👍
Oh I'm so glad yours have stopped! I had my first one when I was 6........I was told, sometime in my teens, that most folk grow out of them withing 20 years......hahaha, still waiting! ;-)

Hi Vivi, my sewing machine has had one service since I bought it 47 years ago. Saying that I have probably just jinxed myself. Winter is on its way out here so I am sorting my seeds ready for spring. Have a great August

Vivi you are such a sweet person. There are so many people who would find whatever you do entertaining. Have you ever thought of writing a book? Instead of selling someone else's books, you could sell your own. So many creators are writing books and doing very well. Use the UA-cam platform to your advantage while you have it. Sorry, but I am also self supporting through my own contributions and always looking for ways to earn some extra cash. People enjoy helping you!😊
I would love to write a book......I love to write and have had a good response to my short pieces on my website but, as with everything else, it all boils down to time.......maybe over the winter I can give it a bit of an effort..... :-)
Knitting bags are good sellers too especially well made ones. That’s something to look in to :)

I Me too Wanting to see mask making x love you Viv you’re very much like me but you’re younger .i recycle lots do repairs and make good . Not tinted my hair for almost two years . My treats are loose tea as it goes further , bubble bath or a nice bar of soap

Ideas Vivi. cooking from Jacks book, making project bags for knitting and sewing eg just for embroidery or cross stitch projects or small knitting ones for sock knitting, they all seem popular and sell well,as I make my own they are pretty quick and not difficult (they must be if I can make them ha,ha!!!) I still have soil problems at the allotment, this year has been dreadful so some of your knowledge on what to do to improve it, etc may come in handy to other people as well as me, it isn't easy growing stuff and your full of knowledge. Im on a small fixed income so can appreciate how you feel and Im in awe of how you manage on so little. PS I have most of Jacks books but use her first one the most. Janex

Ouch! I know migraines. Not much you can do but hole up in a dark, cool bedroom with a wet flannel on your forehead or back of neck. Best to have some water and crackers to keep the body going.
Do what you have to do, Vivi. Your health is #1 priority, then do some fun things. You deserve it. Oh, and repair shops sometimes have unclaimed machines they'll sell for the cost of repairing it. It might be good to have a spare in the future.

I wish I could send you one of the 3 spare machines I have (I keep inheriting them)! The overseas postage on something so heavy would be idiotic. Hopefully, there will be a change with the youtube ads, I have noticed the type of ads have changed, a couple of months ago they were very long 5/6 min ones but now seem to be a bit shorter and more like they were previously.

Having a break will be good for you your constantly working and health is a priority if your going to continue to be able to work wage free. My mum always advised us to have a white goods fund. Which we top up as and when we can. Enjoy the month of August Vivi and don’t work too hard 😁 I hope your new ideas pay off. Thank you Jen....there are a few videos on how I store my produce if you scroll to the bottom of my channels home page. I don't really use garden centres.......I get my seeds either by saving my own or from small mail-order suppliers........but if I do visit a garden centre at some point I will bring you along. :-)
I love your videos as so many others do too. Little videos where you won’t have the editing headache sound like a great idea as then you will still have a trickle of income from them. I know that you struggle to understand how much we value you and wonder if you would be offended if someone set up a go fund me page to help with the repairs or even a new machine if the repairs are too eye watering? xx

In regards to the sewing machine repair shop, do they rent sewing machines to use, while yours is being repaired? If that is not the case, could you not queue up everything you want to sew, ie, have it all cut out and pinned?
Oh I hadn't thought about them renting machines......that's a good thought for if it happens again.......but for now I'm actually quite happy to be without it and focus on other things.... :-)

Ooh, do you think you could give me a clue to where your fabric shop is? My local market has a good fabric stall but is obviously limited in the variety they can sell and it would be great to see something different. eBay is great, but it's nice to be able to see the fabrics in real life before purchasing. Hi Vivi . Over the three years your videos have been consistently more interesting and better presented than the two gardening shows here is Australia, which are virtually unwatchable - the national Broadcaster's one is full of covert and overt political subtexts, and the commercial one because it is stuffed full of advertising in one way or another. In each case one feels as though one is constantly batting away the annoying extraneous content just to get to the meagre scraps of genuine content.

reselling books seems like a really good idea with generating some income. no need to be ashamed of needing some income. even natives on islands do trading when they can. you do use some machines and services, so a bit of cash generation or in the bank would be very useful for you.

It's important to talk about money, it helps people who live on a tight budget. I have to say, I find the fact that you need to pay for rent of the land where your house is, despite owning the house, is hard to accept and that's why I left London, the UK, to Europe. I own my small house and I pay nothing, all I pay is €90 per year for the rubbish and around same amount, even less I'd sat, for water, that's it! My only problem is I'm unable to generate any income here in Italy..if I make 15 euro one week I'd be happy..that's not good..I'd love to start a UA-cam channel and a blog but I don't have a camera or even a computer!! How I'm going to buy them if I'm not making any money? 😞😰
I am fortunate that I was able to buy those things while I was still working.....perhaps in your situation you might be able to find stuff second hand for a fraction of the cost? I hope so. :-)

Anyway, I wanted to say life in the uk is do expensive, not fair at all, there's no justice and that's what made me leave...as for secondhand, I get everything secondhand but with technology I had a bad experience, works for a short while then stops, just terrible so I prefer new...anyway, as they say, when there's a will, there's a way...

Just a little question.... When the ads come on you tube.. I never watch them as they aren't anything I am interested in and I click on the skip button...... If people click off the adverts do you lose income?... If so I will watch the boring beggars so at least you benefit...
I just let them run otherwise there is no income. It is mildly annoying but worth it to keep Vivi podcasting.
Ach, it's a tricky one......I make sure the adverts are all 'skipable' as I don't want to annoy folk....but letting the ads run is were my revenue comes from. I have no control over what adverts appear and the length of them though.....I hate the ads that go on for more than a minute so please do skip those.......very tedious! Or go make a cup of tea. Thank you for asking and having that level of thoughtfulness, it is much appreciated. XXX

UA-cam could be a bit more intelligent and cater their advertising to your content.
The advertising caters more to your online activity than the content of the video.
