    Great easy to understand information that's pure gold to a new Prophet owner. I went with the .25 but, .22 barrel is in my very near future. First I wanna chuck some .25's. I have a Walther Reign in .25 that's throws H&N Barracuda hunters almost in the same hole at 50 yards but, that power curve is not easy to play when you wanna do a lot of shooting. The consistency of a regulator is required for precision shooting.

    Hi Gregor, thanks for sharing. I wish you could have show the tuning with an actual chronograph. I've found something with my Priest that I don't understand while tuning the hammer spring tension. I start as you explained with the spring lose and I start tightening little by little and I see my speed increasing, and this what typically you will see with other rifles, with other rifles, if you tighten too much you won't be able to cock the rifle anymore, well with the Priest what I see is that at some point the velocity drops even if I'm tightening, do you know why is that? I was expecting that at some point I don't see an increase anymore, so I reach the plateau, no matter if I keep tightening I don't gain more power, but with the Priest at least, it is really hard for me to find the plateau speed, because at some point it start dropping.
    I'll do a video about this on my channel, because I'm changing ammo soon and I want to change the tune for the new ammo

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  4 роки тому +2

      That is perfectly normal. The reason why the velocity drop is because the hammer spring tension was so big that the hammer opened the valve fully and then still had enough energy to hit the end of the travel limit. If you think about it, when you have correct hammer spring tension, the hammer should not hit the the end and the valve should slow down the hammer and start to accelerate it back. This is a gradual process and takes more time than if the hammer hits the stop and starts to accelerate back. So the valve ended up begin opened for shorter time and you got lower velocities. This would happened on any gun but as you mentioned, others have adjustability limits but if there are limits, you might not be able to set the hammer spring tight enough if you have really high pressure and you want really high power... So RTI deliberately allows you to go over, just so you have a genuinely fully adjustable gun even for high powers. The procedure is as I explained. just find the peak velocity at the pressure you are at (this does not mean that you have to fully screw in the hammer spring tension screw, it just means that you adjust the hammer spring tension until you find the max...) and then you reduce the hammer spring tension until you reach about 30 fps less than was the max.

      @OriOnTheIguanaHunter 4 роки тому +1

      @@gregorkamensek3923 Thanks for the response, that's exactly what I was doing, finding the maximum while modifying the tension, I was by no mean screwing the spring tension to the max, but what I found challenging was that at some point I saw the speed dropping and I was sure what was the max, maybe I was rotating it too much, I was doing a 1/4 turn, I might need to try again at 1/8 of a turn, anyway I'm really glad you explained because even when I was doing exactly what you described I was not sure why at some point I was experiencing a drop on speed. It all makes now perfect sense! Thanks once more and I hope I can get my hands around that Prophet! Remember one day you told me to wait for it, well I was needing a gun and I pulled the trigger on the Priest2 and I couldn't be happier. Hello Gregor, I’m very close in buying the Prophet but was wondering if it can be adjusted under 12/lb for backyard plinking? With the larger plenum and longer barrel not sure if it would be possible? Also did you say the .22 long range has a longer shroud because it has baffles in it? Thanks for the videos! Keep’em coming! Hi. RTI would probably answer this better than I, I believe they prepare the guns specially for the countries with 12/lb limitation, so if you buy the gun in UK, it should be already adjusted to this limit. Unforunately, there are no baffels in the shroud :) I am hoping they will introduce this in the future, I have already made this proposition to them a few times...

    Hi Gregor, nice explanation of the initial setup.
    My question is about using 2 different pellets, e.g. JSB heavy and monster.
    Is it convenient to make the reg and spring tension setup for the monster and once i want to pass to the Heavys to use the only hammer screw to reduce the speed?
    Is this going to affect the air efficiency?
    Thanks.

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  3 роки тому +1

      Generally, if you have higher pressure than needed for a specific pellet speed and you reduce it by lowering hammer spring tension, the air efficiency is better. That does not necessary mean that you will get more shots per fill (it will probably be about the same as with lower pressure) as your available pressure difference (fill pressure - reg. pressure) will be lower as well...

    Hi Gregor, hello from Austria.
    I´m owner of a Priest 1 since more than one year, did all upgrades to Priest 2 and now to Prophet.
    Only the original barrel 022 is left. Up to 840 ft with pelles the accuracy is OK, with higher velocity it becomes more flyers.
    Normaly i`m using JSB Heavy Monster Redesign pellets.
    Is the new longer barrel only for pellets OK, or is it also useful for slugs ?
    Can you help me to get a Lother Walter long range Barrel for slugs ? ( more twistrate !! )
    Best Regards, Harry

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  4 роки тому +2

      Hi. For pellets, what you need is the "5,5 LR" barrel. This is the RTI barrel dedicated for pellets. It is made by LW by RTI specs. With that barrel, you can shoot JSB Monster Redesigned at 310, 320 m/s and still get stable long range performance. I am shooting a 2,5 cm circle at over 100 meters and I get a hit probability of about 90%. I have a video about this barrel. But this barrel will not shoot slug well. I would recommend getting the long (Prophet) version - 60 cm. You will also need the pressure set to about 170-180 bars and hammer spring adjusted. BTW: do you still have the old body (back side)? Old body has slightly smaller ports so you might not get full 320 m/s power but rather about 300 m/s...
      This is by far the most accurate setup I have tested. No other gun that I have tested was ever more accurate.
      For slugs, it is a different story. To tell you the trough, I haven't yet find a barrel and slugs that would outperform pellets at close range. And for long range, I also haven't find any barrel / slugs that would outperform JSB Monster redesign in long range barrel. I am constantly trying to get good performance with different slugs but I am not satisfied with the results. The problem is that the slugs that are now available are reverse engineered to shoot in pellet barrel that are not designed for this. So the results are acceptable but not really good. What needs to be done (and already has been done by FX but is very limited to use in FX guns and also has its own problems) is design a barrel for the slugs that are on the market... So far, I do not have any really good solution for you. Simply having higher twist rate will not bring better results, it needs to be designed form ground up to slugs...

      @@gregorkamensek3923 Hi Gregor, my configuration have all actual parts of RTI, front and backside new body, the new side lever, the moa rail, the back plate and the new regulator. The power plenum i will produce with my machinery. Because i will integrate a second gauge on left side into the plenum tube. Also i will build a adjustable spindle at the back plate to hold the aiming point.
      Therefore it was also necessary to have a longer side lever. Now i do not loose the target point in my scope, because now it is so smooth to cock the hammer spring.
      At adistance of 20m , 135 bar, 800 ft/s , and using JBS Heavy Monster redesign i bring 12 shots into a circle 15 mm diameter. ( baffles in the shroud ans a moderator )

      I am assuming you have the newer adjustable trigger. you have 2 screws (allen 1,5 mm I believe). The rear screw adjusts sear engagement, if you want to set it for short second stage you have to turn it clockwise. The front one sets the spring (weight) of the second stage. To have it lighter, you have to rotate it clockwise. Note that if you have the front screw too far out (ant clockwise), the sear will not engage because there will be no spring tension to return it so rear screw will have no effect either and you will not be able to cock the hammer. Same goes for the rear screw, if you rotate too much in (clockwise), the sear will not be able to catch anymore and you will not be able to cock the gun. I would suggest that you have the front screw somewhat screwed in in the beginning, then tune the rear screw to have short but still safe coking (when you cock the gun, you should be able to hit the gun with your hand in any direction without it going off), then you make the second stage lighter with front screw and follow the same safety procedure.
      I usually do it the following way. I have the front screw in about half way, then i cock the gun (make sure there is no pellet in the gun), then start to turn in the rear screw (clockwise) slowly until the gun fires. Then go back (anticlockwise) about 1/2 revolution. After that adjust front screw (weight) to your liking...

      On standard versions, regulators are fixed. You could change the pressure but you would need to add / remove washers in it (I do not recommend if you don't have experience with this yet). If you want to increase power, you will need to make the hammer spring tighter. You can do this by adding some spacer in the back side of the spring, but it is not as elegant for fine tuning as the adjustable but pad form RTI.

      @@thejack01 It is quite hard to unscrew the bottle while under pressure and also, not all RTI guns use one way valve... So it you do not know if you have it, I would not advise it. As for the moving of the bottle, the thread on the regulator (that is threaded in the gun) in quite big and it is never fully screwed in so you can have the pressure gauges on the appropriate position. The pressure is what is holding the bottle in a specific position, so it can have some flex. This is normal.

      Depends on what you mean by better... but general answer would be NO. Also, this is not possible with pressure assisted valves. The only reason why it would be better is because of air consumption and in some cases, it can give better accuracy because there is less pressure behind the pellet once it leaves the barrel. But there are a lot of problems with this setups such as velocity inconsistency, requires much higher regulator precision, you have to top up the gun sooner,... yes, the truth is that I think I have to get used to how the rifle works, it is because I have never had one with a plenum box and regular power at this level, what I have doubts about is only when the air passes through the plenum box, sometimes it takes longer to pass air towards it, I have noticed it when under power for example at 90 bar it takes longer and when I go up to 130 or 150 bar it is nothing that takes time to fill the plenum, that is it, on the page it says that it only takes 1ms but it is not the same When lowering the power I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

      @@charlesronaldfontealbasagr1826 It is normal that the plenum fills back up quicker at higher pressure but it never fills up during the fire cycle so this does not affect the valve operation in any way. Also, at lower pressures, the valve is opened for longer time so it drains the plenum slightly more, that is also partially the reason why the plenum fills up slower... The 1ms you saw on the web page is referring to the valve opening time and has nothing to do with plenum refilling time... Just a side note: slower regulators (longer refiling of the plenum) is better in terms of pressure accuracy as during refilling, there is also thermodynamics transient phenomenon to be taken into account. First of all, not to make anyone angry, I said that it is the most accurate gun I ever used / owned :)
      But yes, it is the barrel along with adjustability. There is quite a few pellet guns that achieves this at closer range , but when you get to 100 + yards, they loose the accuracy. Plus given the fact that you can shoot pellets at extremely high velocity at longer ranges, it makes it less sensitive to wind as conventional pellet guns shooting at conventional speeds (up to 900 fps). Also I cannot tune it the way you explainned on going about 30fps above desired speed then go down with hammer spring 30fps to get good efficiency. To reach 1040fps the max my prophet can go is about 1050fps and no more so if I want 1040fps I had to go 1050fps and then go back with hammer spring to 1040fps. Hello Gregor I have a problem with the adjustable regulator on my Prophet Performance. I was shooting several months at 160 bar shooting the JSB Monster Redesigned at 300m/s.
    Today I changed the regulator to 90 bar to shoot lighter pellets.
    The problem was that the speed dropped each shot
    See the results
    Ie serie 2e serie 3e serie
    293 m/s 304 298
    281 297 288
    272 289 277
    267 276 268
    257 271 264
    255 268 261
    254 261 253
    252 275 255
    249 266 251
    249 280 253
    248 270 256
    264 248
    The regulator kept steady at 90 bar.
    Then I tried at 120 bar, now the problem was that the speed klimed at each shot

    Speed rise 267, 272, 269, 281, 282, 280
    After 5 min the speed dropped again to 26s m/s and then began to rise again.
    261, 270, 280, 281, 285.

    At 130 bar the same problem
    259, 266, 274, 279, 282, 286
    After 5 min
    263, 272, 279, 278, 280, 283

    I took 50 shots before I started measuring with the crony.

    So at 90 bar the speed is dropping and at 120/130 bar the speed is rising.
    All the time I was shooting the monsters the speed was consistent 300m/s.
    Any idea what the problem could be?
