Yah,he is,doesn't take things to seriously. He introduced himself to me in the early eighties,he was lit like hell, had a nice blonde on his arm. He was giving me advice, and was very cool!
I've been fortunate to see Brad w/ Night Ranger twice, once in 90's and recently. He is amazing artist, shreds like a beast. Amazing how down to earth he is
MrZcruzer saw them just this weekend play the Cal State Fair in Sac. They are still a force to contend with! Very, very powerful band and frankly I don’t understand why some people diss them - they’ve got a nice variety of music that taps into different moods, and some serious rockers like “Don’t Tell Me”, etc. I’m proud to be a Night Ranger fan!
I have always admired Brad's awesome guitar playing. He was a big influence on me when I started playing guitar in the very early 1980s. I have always liked Night Ranger's music, and I sat down and did my best to learn to play their songs. I also liked Brad's playing on Ozzy's "Speak of the Devil" album in 1982. I played that cassette tape so much that I pretty much wore it out...lol!
Brads works on Speak Of The Devil was phenomenal .. And seeing Brad play from front row 3 times (8 times total seeing Night Ranger) lets you see how badass this dude really is .. Rock On Gillis \m/ ..
That is one of my favorite things about him -- what he did on that tour. And Speak of the Devil is just so perfect. I actually ordered it again, from a kid in Japan on Ebay a couple years ago, because I lost my original, lol. What a great album. And Brad's part in all of that goes down in history :)
I wonder if his original 4 track cassette setup was the old Fostex Multitracker. I still have mine. Great little machine.. He still plays that old 62 Strat. Indestructible.
Holy shit I just played the song and totally forgot about the fast middle part. I lent the album to some jackoff friend of mine and have not listened to the song since like 1983 a couple of months before the second album even came out.
VrX brad Mr. Brad my good friend and I would go see you all the time at garage. Stacy is my name . You are and always a gentleman . Memories. I have from music.
Was it just me or did any of you other guys' cassette tapes of Speak of the Devil fall apart? I had THREE that the tape heads fell off of. Still loved the tape though. Same shit with all of Michael Schenker tapes.
I hope one day they can invent a live snare drum sound that doesnt sound like crap live like that. That huge smack reverberating around the room like that sounds like poop.
It's hard to listen to bands in smaller venues because drums often sound awful. I play in many bars and finally gave up the ghost and purchased an electric kit. I concluded it was worth my inconvenience of not having the"real feel" of an acoustic kit in exchange for patrons to hear large venue drum sounds.
I helped Brad get the Ozzy gig in '82, Sharon is my aunt. She wanted Jimmy Page at first because he was in no band at the time, but he really wasn't a metal player
Jack Blades is no longer in the band , he said they were a three peice,so no more Joel Hoekstra , there has not been Keys since mike Lardie came in as a Keyboardist . Wow it really looks like the true nucleus is Gillis and Keagy , wow , suprised at Blades !
Jammin Clemmons wow , that would have been great to see, I am going to look around to see if they will be coming to my area but more than likely " NO JEFF WATSON " right ??
+sab287Leporidae I don't know about Jeff Watson. Was he the Keyboard player, or other guitarist? There are only three original members left in Night Ranger though. That's from the people I talked to. See them if you can. Way professional show--I was floored!
Jammin Clemmons WOW, not even a keyboard player , holy shit ! Jeff was the second guitarist , Alan " Fitz" , Fitzgerald was teh Keyboardist , when he left or I think he also passed on , Michael Lardie of GREAT WHITE another California band , I think they were from Alameda area , was asked to come in . after Watson left , not to sure the real truth behind his depature , it is sketchy . There was another guitarist , shit his name is not coming to me , I know it , he was back and forth with the group and I guess he is no longer. I do remember hearing it was 3 now and personally , that is a bit of a loss really , the band should be at the least 4 but then again in some ways it can be looked at as " well we never replace , Jeff and Alan " so why bother !! Yes they can survive quite well without a second guitar and a keyboardist, I think they are in fact the original three, KEAGY AND JACK ARE THE FIRST AND THEN BRAD ! Are they using a Keyboardist at all , a hired guy to sit in for the older songs with Keyboards ?
+sab287Leporidae I am sorry....I confused you. There were five members when i saw them, just a couple weeks ago. When I wrote there are (only 3) original members, that was meaning they hired 2 newer guys. Again...that show was way professional. Night Ranger doesn't F*ck around--LOL
i used to love this guy... but man... cocaine is a bad thing. Its to bad he had to deal with stardom. He just comes across as a jerk........ But maybe its just me.... Three piece Power trio?
Yeah, probably just you. I've emailed him about some Floyd issues and got helpful personal replies and pics of his setup from him. Can't imagine many jerks would do that. His personality is a little goofy and odd but I don't think that makes him a jerk, or what some others here have said...an ass. Musicians and artists in general have weird senses of humor and odd personalities (most of the good ones anyway), so you have to understand that he isn't going to be a normal person you would typically hang out with. But that's cool and it's probably part of what makes him unique.
@@stevej.1428 Nice! Brad seems like a good dude. I love his tone on Speak of the Devil. Not many known guitarist would take the time to do that for anyone having Floyd issues. Just goes to show you what kind of guy he is.
Brad Gillis is one of my all time favorite players. He's one of the GOATS, for sure and he's hilarious, AND from the Bay !
I am even more impressed with this guy for having a built in wireless system in the guitar. He was really ahead of his time
I like Brad Gillis, he seems like a down to earth silly kind of dude
Yah,he is,doesn't take things to seriously. He introduced himself to me in the early eighties,he was lit like hell, had a nice blonde on his arm. He was giving me advice, and was very cool!
I was just about to write the very same thing. Lol seems very grounded but fun.
But a monster on guitar
Wow KLOL rock 101 sticker on the back of his guitar, great radio station in Houston back in the day, long gone now

Love it! Winding his strings OLD SCHOOL....ya gotta respect that!!!
Not really
Holy shit, he's got a KLOL sticker on the back of his guitar. One of the best rock stations ever in Houston.

Yeah man, I love Speak of the Devil as well!!!
My Speak of the Devil tape literally fell apart one day I played it so much! Still love to put that album on and jam with it.
I love brad gillis solo on snowblind from the speak of the devil album . I like it just as .much as tony Iommis solo
I got the Art guitar rack processor because of Brad :)
Brads works on Speak Of The Devil was phenomenal .. And seeing Brad play from front row 3 times (8 times total seeing Night Ranger) lets you see how badass this dude really is .. Rock On Gillis \m/ ..
Surfside Beachbum He’s still a badass, based on the show I saw at Cal State Fair over this past weekend.
That is one of my favorite things about him -- what he did on that tour. And Speak of the Devil is just so perfect. I actually ordered it again, from a kid in Japan on Ebay a couple years ago, because I lost my original, lol.
What a great album. And Brad's part in all of that goes down in history :)
Always have been impressed with Brad since I first met him.
This video in two parts was cool, got to see and hear Brad play Jeff's solo from Don't Tell Me You Love Me....
Thanx nijino this guy and Jeff are some of the heroes of my youth.
I used to party with Brad when he lived in Alameda Ca
Very cool. What was he like?
@@chrisseanbaldwin very kick back dude
@@chrisseanbaldwin I went to the same high School but I'm 4 years behind
I met Brad in 92' backstage in Houston. He was cool and at the moment very mellow.
This guy is savage and thats a cool mod on his guitar , Also I love Strats
Brad Gillis on Speak Of The Devil is fucking Epic!

昔!見た事ある映像デス! 探していたので! 映像を 上げてくれて ありがとうございます!!(感謝!!)
I think he teabagged three people during that live shot.
Speak of the Devil 😈 is ...
one of THE best records ever.
All teabagging aside.
very multi tallented --- even does great impressions of English-people
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing this! 😎✌️
Speak of the Devil is class fucking awesome, I love the song Night ranger by Night ranger aswell Brad is so underrated
Where are you gonna got to now Night Ranger.
Holy shit I just played the song and totally forgot about the fast middle part. I lent the album to some jackoff friend of mine and have not listened to the song since like 1983 a couple of months before the second album even came out.
I can still feel the rumble of that gold bird

ギターの演奏は神レベルなのは分かっていますが、弦の張り方もギターテック並みに神レベル👍🎶オジーが認めたギタリスト!
少年のようにギターを弾く姿が素敵です🎸
THIS is cool! Thanks for posting!

Epic Records was notorious for having bad hardware for their cassettes!
Dude looks like Pat Metheny.
Neil Schon got the second Floyd Rose.
Lol, and then ProTools came out and made all that wonderful stuff obsolete.
Not really, we still use our Neve VR and all of our outboard gear. Just use pro-tools as a tape machine and editing.
Not obsolete, just replacing quality sound with less quality but easier recording.
Absolutely, hardware is so obsolete and ugly as well.
@@guitaristinseattle yeah, it's so ugly. You got any of that ugly gear from Yamaha and Lexicon you wanna get rid of?
Those daisy dukes tho ...that's probably what killed their career.
What year was this
one of my favorite bands growin up! Great songwriter and even better player

what yr was this vid made ?
hey Brad, remember Ed Jeske?
This must be from back in the early 90's?
smilinachya yes, the “Moon Ranger” period (w/Gary Moon on lead vocals), 91-95
Probably 93, he said he got his guitar about 13 yrs ago in 1980.
Wtf is a night ranger anyway.
