The Royal Ballet and its incredible ARTISTS. Beautiful and intelligent dancers: sense & sensibility and professional performances. And Cuthbertson is one of the bests: perfect technique, diversity from humor to vulnerability. Congrats and all the best for her on stage and off!
this is so special and surreal at the same time because it demonstrates this individual line that is ballet in the career, it takes so much from our personal and everyday life that we can't even exemplify. walk against this perspective and have the most delicate courage to insert your legacy and your heart into motherhood, allowing your main part to be what will impact the fruit of your womb, generationally. it's beautiful. thank you!
As a fellow mom and ballerina, I would love to hear what her favorite exercises were in her journey to get back into shape. I have reached out to so many and found that most dancers have been given little to no guidance in the subject and I am always looking for ways to help others and educate not only myself, but also those around me. If she is willing and able to share, I would be so very honored and grateful! God bless Lauren Cuthbertson and your sweet baby!
Incredible. I've seen the video's time was about 5min, when she finished the dance and I got surprised no actual interview was given, I realized how much was said with only the dance. Silly me, it was the best interview since there was no words, only emotions which I related so deeply. As a fan of Ballet and myself starting it late on my 28's, I know my time in Ballet is short. It is on my list to have a baby soon by next year so I know, I must leave Ballet. if not forever, for a good while, and it makes my soul sad. At least I can say, I was a ballerina.
It needs so much courage to live a life next to ballet, especially at such a level. Just amazing, artist, dancer and a rare combination: human❤️ She is still gonna give a lot to the dance world....
I'm wondering where this was on her journey getting back into shape and if her "worst shape I've ever been in in my life" represents peak conditioning for the rest of us! Although I would have liked to see her back on pointe, I just loved the choreography and would also like to know the name of the piece she's dancing to. Most ballerinas that have quit to have kids seem to come back even stronger, especially when it comes to dramatic weight. Lovely piece, thanks for creating and posting!
I liked the choreography and music too. I googled Didy Veldman, the choreographer given in the film's credits, and found a few facts but no specific name to the work. Cuthbertson is such a beautiful and versatile dancer. Thanks for posting to NOWNESS.
What's the piece of music that starts at 1:38 minutes please? It's familiar but I'm not sure what it is. Reminds of certain Almodovar soundtracks in parts.

Beautifully shot and edited - the opening sequence of mum and baby movement was stunning.

The name of the piece is called Step by Step: Lauren Cuthbertson by Nemanja Mosurović.

Wow!
Lauren is a most amazing dancer. An actress who tells the story. What a joy to watch her dance. ❤

I would love to know the music as well!
Found it, it’s original music:
“The music was created for the piece by the Serbian composer Nemanja Mosurovic.”
