As an OG player that used to play local tournaments, i respect the knowledge players need to have to be able to pull of these combos, but let's be real here. This is ridiculous.
Actually it's not that hard
They only know to do copycat on classical combo they've learnt
Yugioh has become same thing than chess : it's more knowledge than skills
u kno the game is messed up when 1 type of card outta 3(traps) became almost useless. Konami must come up with brand new format or ban n limit almost every card

Like Brahhh!! 1 turns takes 10-20minutes?? And the game is finished in two turns or even one turn, really in some cases. Stupid AF! Limit how many monsters can be summoned in one turn, that would calm some of this bs lol.. I prefer old format also being from that era, it was more of a actually back and forth dual. This is LAME!!!

Yeah, just came back to yugioh master duel. Been 10 years since I've played and the game just become 1st turn wins. Game would be much more fun if you could actually play a full game with many turns.

Played high level tournaments when I was 15. Used to be super into it: Tengu, Rabbit, Dark World. Then, aside of taking off with my career in soccer, I didn't recognize this game anymore. Today I am 27 and every once in a while I hop on dueling book to play those decks. My wife thinks I am weird but she can't comprehend the magical enigma those formats were.

I had a six samurai deck and a dino-Rabbit deck. those were the days :D When pendulum cards came out I immediately quit playing the game haha. I very much miss yugioh over 10 years later
I'm 27 too. Tengu format is my favorite to play online when I do play. Especially now that's it's online with all the cards versus playing irl back in the day when pot of duality and solemn warning were so expensive
Lol 35 here. I used to play tournaments when yata lock was a thing and chaos emperor dragon. I used to own it with a equip deck supported by stong level 4 monsters and traps/ spells to clear the field.
Turn 1 in Magic: I play an Island, and pass.
Turn 1 in Yugioh: I special summon my entire deck, sacrifice the deck to summon my WASD monster, when that enters play it returns my graveyard back to the deck. I then special summon my entire deck, sacrifice the deck to summon my UDLR monster which allows me to sacrifice my WASD monster. When my WASD monster enters my graveyard it allows me to play cards from my graveyard. I then play a spell that places all my graveyard cards back into my deck. Pass.

lol Konami is making overpower cards so they can sell cards for collectors. When it comes to competition, OTK is the worst. You come for a tournament and get killed in turn 1, you cannot even enjoy the moment lmao.

At that point it's whoever summons the highest ATK beatstick first wins, that'd get old real quick too. I don't see how the game could make unique card effects or cool plays at all in that state
That was an awesome performance by Ruben. You can tell this win meant a lot to him and his opponent showed nothing but respect and happiness for him. True players right there. I hope they suck each other off later.

OG just checking out how the game plays out.... that was max 2-3 turns and the game was over. the combos are insanely long.
It should be max 40 seconds per turn

Fr. I was playing master duel and one of the effects that was activated the game couldn’t even shrink the text in the little pop up that appears.
As an OG plater i only clicked this video to see how long the turns would last and how fast the duel would be... i was not disappointed

You could argue a skill issue but that would be intellectually dishonest since everyone is playing the same cookie cutter. A game without counterplay is truly boring.

The meta when I played was chaos dragons, synchros, fusions and xyz’s was the greatest. I stopped after links because it got so complicated real fast.

Yu-Gi-Oh at the moment has to be the WORST game of all time 😂😂 Dudes play 28373 mins their first turn,in order to execute their... 1 card combo.
I miss when this game was simplified. I played for years and years but sold all my cards about 13 years ago. Looking at collecting some old cards now but man this game has changed and from what I am seeing its too complicated and turns last way too long. As soon as the synchro cards started to arise I knew it was going to take a turn I wasnt into anymore. I wish it would go back to its old roots to simplicity and fun. Imagine getting into the game now... youd be screwed with just a basic structure deck. It would take years to learn the game I feel like.
This is as simple as the game has been honestly. There is no longer counterplay. When yugioh was still truly a turn based game and had creativity it was better.
I stopped playing around 2013. I thought Synchros were fun to play and Xyz were maybe a step too far but still bearable. Glad I stopped when I did because everything after that looks like it's horrendous.

As another OG player, this is easily one of the funniest things I’ve seen. I’ve gotten back into Pokemon VG recently and competitive Pokemon today has blown me away, I love it. That made me want to check YuGiOh back out. This, however, is a joke and I’m not sure if I love it or hate it.

@@simon990055 i would say zexal. XYZ summoning wasn't too bad but pends and links got too much with all handtraps and shut down combo decks.
The speed and continous combos doesn't bother me, what i think is so dumb is why aren't we forced to have a certain balance to decks to where it makes duels more interesting. At least 40 cards is good but then add 2 more things to make things better. #1. Must have at least 4 trap cards in your deck (not hand trap monsters). #2. More powerful trap cards that are counter (which is speed 3) should be created to be able to counter and compete againt these endless loop decks. Would slow down the game a little to be able to enjoy the counters and see better reactions, along with having a variety of different decks with different types of trap card schemes. So much variety of decks would compete.
yeah i agree. i like combos but it needs some rules to slow down the game and to be able to bring on the table more variety of decks
I disagree. These people don't even follow Set game rules how could they understand actual deck set up laws and rules
@mikeyo5039 well your right when it comes to ruling so many times in local tournaments opponents would want to do counters or continue to activate effects of their cards when I would play a counter trap against them and the way it goes is if a counter trap is activated as like the 3rd thing on a chain then the chain starts from the last thing activated so if a monster has a graveyard effect after his first effect went through then it won't work cause his first effect never went through cause I had a negate and destroy (setting it as an example) so I negated and destroyed so the second effect doesn't happen cause of me stopping the card completely. Then the first card effect maybe was a continuous trap that every turn when an effect of a monster is used you can add a counter(as an example) it would not gain it cause I negated monster completely from doing anything and destroyed his so that would foil the plan completely

I loved playing OG when I was a kid. I couldn't understand a thing.
I got into Pokemon TCG last year and it was so easy. In pokemon tcg, I can play with classic decks from 25 years ago just fine.
Sigh This is why Old Yu-Gi-Oh is the best. Wish the new is just awesome and simple like the old but alas.

You're right but I suppose that for convenience they only shuffle once their turn is over or an effect is activated regarding the exact placement of the card/s (placing cards at the top/bottom of the deck, milling the top cards, etc...). If 9 cards out of 10 you play are searchers you would just waste time shuffling at every effect resolution, after all duels are timed

You only shuffle when randomization is required, ie drawing from the deck. Until then it is free game

Can someone explain how a dude 6-3 ended up in the finals against a dude 8-0-1. He must’ve had some insane tie breakers but to get carried to the finale those tie breakers must have better records than him so how is it possible he ended up playing in that finale?
I feel like I saw two people playing a chess match where in their turns, they just had arrange all the pieces in a way to win. That wild I would've never imagine the game would reach this weird place

It kinda sucks that there's a lack of originality to deck building. One person starts using a deck and everyone else just copies and pastes it. Konami needs to limit the number of times you can fusion, synchro, xyz, link and pendulum summon to once per Main Phase, unless a card allows you and additional summon. Also players need to properly shuffle their decks properly every time after searching through it, if you don't like shuffling then don't use do many search effects
One extra deck summon per main phase sounds like a really good idea. I haven't played since 2013 so this duel looked outrageous to me.
That kind of was the intention with links but then Konami just made more busted cards and did away with the limitations😂

This generation of Yu-Gi-Oh has become nonsense there is to much power from the gravyard and special summon, they need to at least change the rule to how much time a player has per turn , is come down to who goes first on the dice roll insane I'm ok with the syncros, and xyz but after that not interested
Let's see some tournament trade in card reprints . Imagine being able to trade in one of the cards for a unique foil and unique ID that puts the tournament details instead of what box it came from.
can we just revolutionize the way we play this. with all our technology and now we have AI.. I think we can get closer to yugi-oh arm deck. maybe not the hologram but at least put program all of the cards.

The viewing experience is terrible. As someone who has no idea about the game, this couldn't have been worse. Cant clearly see what cards are being played as the camera is too zoomed out and the casters are just mumbling nonstop.

Yu-Gi-Oh plucked at the low hanging fruit the last few decades releasing expansion packs focused on wowing their adopters, in the process making the game near impossible to balance....
I feel a return to simpler times is needed if new players are going to start growing their card folders.
Yubel had been best deck for so many years. Not surprised. I run dragonmaids with other support cards but I know that if I take my maids to a major tournament, I will lose.

This game really fell off with all the bullshit they started adding. I hope they do some kind of Retro tourney. Seems like the general consensus is this is super lame and the game is awful to watch and no fun to play.
