    Thank you. Do you also have to do (2) Send Your Work(s) by Mail? Or is the upload enough?

      You can upload directly through the website. I believe you can mail them in if you want though.

      If you’re registering digital photographs AND you’re using the eCO (the US Copyright Office’s/USCO on-line electronic system) to register your images, you only need to upload one copy of each photograph. This is the preferred way to register your digital photographs.
      If you use US mail or use FedEx to delivery your images to the USCO, it will typically take MUCH longer (months???) for the USCO to process your registration application and mail your Certificate of Registration to you.

      @@JRDNPWRS Great, thank you. I submitted my 2022 images last night... first time submitting images for copyright and I couldn't have done it without you. I did the entirety of my 2022 images at once, which I'm pretty sure is okay. But I understand that there's reason to submit quarterly.

    Here in EU my lawyer informed me that you can get 150 per year max here. Unless its multiple images. The process itself costs 20x that much. Its very depressing. It happens almost every day that I see my images in the wild. Still I use Pixsy also. I export my free work every year to my GoogleDrive and the service just adds them. While taking someone to court is very slim here usually they do tend to accept to pay my license fee. Its client work you do not have to work for. Sometimes it even ends you with new clients.

    Thank you for this great video, I followed it step by step when I was copyrighting my images a few months ago. You made the process a walk in the park.
    I'm curious if you've found it's possible to deduct attorney's fees on your taxes, or if paying taxes on 100% of a settlement is unavoidable. Say you have a settlement for $10 and your attorney takes half, leaving you with $5. Is it possible to pay taxes on just the $5 instead of $10?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the video, will not having the comma in the list of all group titles cause an issue with registration? As you mentioned in numbers, that column comes up with an error once the month/year of publication is put in. Thanks again.

    • @JRDNPWRS
      @JRDNPWRS  Рік тому +1

      I am not entirely sure if it will cause an issue, per-say - but I wouldn't recommend including without the comma as that separates all of the names. When you get your physical copy of the registration form, you'll see why that matters.

    Hello,
    I have photos taken in October 2023. It gives an error when entering the date in Excel. Is it not possible to process because it is the previous year?

  • @hotelphotography

    Thanks for the video, it does clarify and simplify the process. In my case, I found out (with Pixsy) that a website has 47 of my photos, some dating back to 2014 (when I shot them). Some of the photos they "stole" have people like CEOs of very important companies and they (the CEOs) do not know that this website is using them as samples of their work. All of those images were taken from my website. If those photos were shot in 2014 to know, do you think I can still register them and will it be the trouble-worth?

    • @JRDNPWRS
      @JRDNPWRS  Рік тому +1

      I would still register everything, but you will not be eligible for the maximum award since they were published so long ago and the infringement already took place prior to registration. If you register them now and there are future infringements, you will have a stronger case.

    • @hotelphotography

      It’s my understanding that if you sign up with Pixsy, you’re required to use their legal services to pursue infringers.
      @hotelphotography wrote, “If those photos were shot in 2014 to know, do you think I can still register them and will it be the trouble-worth?
      Yes, even if you missed *“timely”* registering your photo with the US Copyright Office (registered either before the infringement started OR registered within three-months of their first-date of publication - date it was listed and/or licensed as stock or the image/s were delivered to your client), you’re still *ENCOURAGED* to get them *IMMEDIATELY* registered, and they will be best protected going forward.
      As of April 2024, its $55 to register from 2 to 750 digital images in one on-line registration application. You just can NOT mix published and UN-published photographs in the same registration application - they have to be separated in their own published or UN-published applications.
      There’s no time restriction for registering un-published images (any range of dates are acceptable). For PUBLISHED photographs, you’re limited to registering them per ONE calendar year, like all your published images from 2014.

    How do we determine if the work is published or not? I am looking to copyright illustrations for my thesis. Is that also considered published photographs?

    • @JRDNPWRS
      @JRDNPWRS  8 місяців тому +1

      My understanding is that it is considered published when you deliver to client or publish online.

    • @cnlicnli
      @cnlicnli 7 місяців тому

      @manvirsing wrote, “How do we determine if the work is published or not?
      *“Publication”* typically means the creative work has been released and made available to the public for licensing, selling, sharing, downloading, or for further distribution (either for free or for payment). If you’re just “displaying” a photograph on-line (like on a website portfolio) AND it’s not for sale, then the work is likely un-published. Delivering images or artwork to clients or a stock library is likely publication, as you’re making those works available for further distribution.
      @manvirsing wrote, “I am looking to copyright *[register???]* illustrations for my thesis. Is that also considered published photographs?”
      Though both photographs & illustrations fall under the Copyright Office’s “visual artworks” category, your illustrations should be registered as illustration works and not photographs.
