I use steel purchased with a pegboard laminated base. One box lasts many many years. Easy to clean and stack and store too. In summer I use hay for material, in winter I use wood shavings as it holds in the heat better. If it's freezing I'll sandwich insulation between two boards to help keep the heat in. It's pretty darn humid here but not terribly hot so I've never run into the summer issues you mentioned. Last litter was born the 22nd of last month and it's been fine even on 90 degree days.
I have had great success with wood nest boxes but I do see your point with wire and metal boxes. Persinly I thought metal boxes would freeze the kits in the winter, I used one recently and had no issues.
My bunny gave birth for the 1st time and out of nowhere and its sop-post to rain and be really cold this week and I was wondering what to do because she’s not covering them or nothing and I would like to know what to do
I am sorry for the slow response. As long as they are in a nestbox and are protected from the wind, they should be fine. If she didn't pull fur and cover them, you can do so yourself. Her fur should be pretty easy to pull from her dewlap. Or you can use some cotton batting (like you would use to stuff pillows). If you are really concerned, you can bring the nest box inside and just take it out to her a few times a day to feed but I don't usually find that necessary.
Slightly Rednecked thank you for the help they have grown out there teeth and the mother does not let them drink milk anymore so they have started to eat solid food but the mother pushes them away from the food and I want to know if I should separate them from the mother so they can eat

nice. There are many ways to do it for sure. Glad to hear that your plans are working well for you.

I know lots of people that use wood and have no problems. I just don't like that it is so hard to clean.

Hey my rabbit made a nest with hat yesterday morning but no fur pulling yet what SHOULD I do
Most rabbits start pulling fur a couple hours before they have their babies.
@@lanaphillips2420 ok thanks
My rabbits often wait until they have their babies to pull fur.
