Yup very simple to work on. Just keep an eye on those crank seals. When the seals get old and brittle it causes a lien condition and burns the piston. Crank seals can be the death of a two-stroke quick
@@yannimeeyamee1567 I have an extra one but I can’t part with it due to its rarity. I recommend you join up with the Facebook groups I know you can find one there.
@@raymondhelms3742 I recommend taking your old stater and sending it to ricks Powersports in New Hampshire. They have a nice website you can find through Google. Give them a call they will give you proper procedure for sipping. They did the stator on my 64 Honda
Clutch is working great. Not bad for a 37 years old especially considering it started life as a rental. If you’re insinuating I am fat thanks for pointing out the obvious. I would also point out you are a coward.
Bulletproof reliability of these 2-stroke Yamahas. I recently bought an '83 RX50, 37 years old and fires up on first kick every time.

@@officialwaybackwhen Any warning signs I should keep a lookout for like excessive blue smoke, etc. indicating a potential crank seal issue?
@@bluoval3481 Excessive smoke loss of crank case oil and lean air fuel mixture.
@@officialwaybackwhen Thanks for the guidance - appreciate it!
Another question: Can you visually determine a bad seal by looking at it still intact in the motor?
I bought a yamaha QT 50 for $20 bucks back in 1993 ish and loved every minute of it.
Please keep the videos coming I plan on buying one tomorrow but bbk would be sweet
2 cycle always starts. Maybe change the oil too. I still have one from 1984. Perfect just not used forever. Perhaps a winter project?
Change the oil? 😅
I have one that starts up it’s a 1979 one but it just shuts off randomly when I’m riding.
What should I do
No sure do you have spark when it dies?
Engine shutting down is no spark or no fuel
I have one but it's in pieces and I'm planning on fixing it up this summer. How many miles to the gallon does it get
100+ miles to the gallon
It takes to cycle oil and gas not just gas bub
Thank you for that
I’m having a terrible time trying to replace the headlight unit
Any suggestions on where to find one?
eBay or treatland although the headlight is going to be difficult to find as it’s a sealed beam unit.
@@officialwaybackwhen exactly man I’ve tried them all and no luck

@@yannimeeyamee1567 Another thing you can do is make your own headlight out of plexiglass and LEDs keep in mind your QT is a 6 V system
6 Volt. Try ebay
Can you turbo charge it?
ARE you selling parts have on all most complete needs stator
Check Amazon I seen stators on there for 20 bucks
Not 5 wire stators 4wire I to looked been looking for a couple years now those stator are for pw50 not qt50

Is it a cvt? Why does it sound like it’s slipping?
It’s not a CVT
It has a centrifugal clutch and it is supposed to slip until a certain speed.
Oh you lucky man.
Is this a 2 stroke engine or 4 stroke?
2 stroke
@@officialwaybackwhen thanks! Great video, greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
I got one just like it
Thats awesome. Pure honda reliability!

I’m wondering would a pw50 motor fit on one of those cause I got a frame and a pw50 motor there Yamaha and still a 50 2 stroke just not a qt
you're way too big for that bike over capacity
So are you as it only had a 170 limit

@@officialwaybackwhen IT is a cool bike though, wish I could find one. Im only 190
