Today we get the ls motor out of the donor truck. I had a little trouble and things didn't go as planned but we get it out. Generally I like to take the transmission out and then the engine but it didn't work out that way. This is a pretty simple process if you take your time. You can also leave the harness on the engine and unplug it under the fuse panel. Hopefully we can start on the green sierra soon.

Some of the plugs you were talking about are glued if they are heat it up a little with heat gun to soften the glue. The torque converter bolts you can use I think it is a 14mm box wrench if I remember correctly you might be able to use ratcheting wrench

I know it's to late now, but instead of removing the hood, they actually have a service bolt hole located a little farther back on the hinges that will put your hood straight up at 90° for removing the engine.

And thanks for the video, by fare the most hands on and descriptive video I've seen that wasn't 3- 1hr videos.
I'm just trying to find a video where someone removed both the engine and transmission with the harness attached. Yours is the closest I've found so fare. That's usually what I'd do in the past. That's what I did with my Tacoma and my dad's Ford, both newer with pretty much the same wiring, but seams like everyone prefers to leave the wiring harness in the engine bay. Just not sure why they wouldn't just remove it with the engine. Maybe it's easier to leave it in the engine bay?

Use a heat gun or a hair dryer to lightly heat up the plugs on the side of the transmission and they’ll come loose. There is some sort of glue I believe. I just had to do it on my 4l80

Switch the transmission to the 4L80E the 60 has major issues all the time if you have any bit of horsepower it kills it. My buddy had a 6.0 with 4L60E but it went twice so we replaced it with the 80 and not a problem since should mention he is very hard on trucks lol goes 4x4 anywhere he can doesn't matter how deep or muddy its a challenge to him lol we've rebuilt the 6.0 gave it a 30 over and a cam ported and polished the heads its a beast for just those small upgrades but he uses twice as hard now lol also its a 03 2500 HD 4x4

Those PRNDL switch’s are tricky. When removing the Connectors, just take a Mini torch and heat them up till they are just too hot to touch. The glue will release. Careful pulling the selector switch of the stud. The stud gets mushroomed out from the 15mm nut and selector cable lever. When you slip the switch off the end of stud it binds on the stud. If you force it, the selector switch becomes loose on stud and you get play. If you have enough play, the selector switch thinks it’s in a gear that it’s not. Will sometimes cause no-crank conditions. You can take a metal file and file the mushroomed metal on the end of the selector shaft on side of transmission. Just file the flats where the little lever sits on the end of shaft. The switch slips right off with no binding.

@@diduck6878 that’s what I usually do. But sometimes they need replacing or someone has tore it up trying to remove it. Sometimes if the the selector rod end is mushroomed out it makes it hard to slip the switch over the rod without damaging the switch.
