Love the Dodge A-100 pickups! Never thought that you'd feature one of these! Loved the sound of that cam in that engine! I also like the color scheme as well. A really unique looking vehicle indeed!
Hey Lou ,This is one of the coolest Mopar "muscle" I have seen in a long while buddy. Wow, that is amazing inside and out. As usual I have to Thank you much!!! The gentleman that owns it seems like a real good guy as well. Well...... THANKS LOU, YOUR CHANNEL IS AWESOME.
I just figured out the patreon thing. Actually just found it lol. Guess at 53 I'm losing it 😁 Anyhow I joined. Figured with how much I watch your channel, love the content and know how much time and effort you put into this, it was the least I could do. Ok Lou, have a good one. See you next time.
@@JeffKing310 agreed Jeff. Lou does different things, gets down to showing stuff that most won't show, finds great cars and will stop at very little to get a good story.
A really nice unique truck with awesome sound. The stance reminded me of all the teens cars through the 60;s everyone was always driving down hill including me :))) Thanks Lou!
Oh I love this Lou! I remember these these very well. All they did on these to make them a truck is it is actually a Dodge van and they just cut the top half off the back. I love this Color and too bad he is changing it but he had a good reason on why he is doing so. It sure sounds healthy and I bet it is a fast little vehicle. The owner was awesome too plus I love his interior theme! Thanks for sharing Lou!
A 451 stroker upfront(that JUST fits), & a factory counterweight in the rear...it's almost like Dodge was expecting these types of mods. Thanks John, for using your awesome ride to thank our Military, & thanks Lou for bringing it to us.
Hi, @@loucostabile I don't get out to the shows as much as I used to (non-car stuff got in the way) so I appreciate the folks that put in the effort to show us at least 1 show-stopping work of art. And this can't be work - because you're always smiling! Thanks again, & keep up the great work!
Beautiful truck. I can remember when my dad sold these back in the 60s. I would change a few things, 1st. leave the dash stock, 2nd drop that back end to just above level, slight rake. Thanks
Hiya Lou, Wow I get a lot of flashbacks watching your channel. In the late seventies my landlord had the full '67 van with a 318 in it and I drove it often to run errands. His was designated an A108 though having a longer wheelbase. I will never forget the shift on the dash, what a blip! Maybe you will be able to do a follow up on this project for us after it is completed and we can see what John accomplished.
Hi Cymon Cyrado, Glad to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Happy to read you're getting fun flashbacks. If I run into John when his project is complete, I'll see if I can do "Take 2", Lou
One of my friends had one with a 340 magnum motor in it all red. It was cool. He was originally going to make it mid engine like the little red wagon but gave that up to drive on the street. This A-100 is just too cool and I wish it was mine.
Hi John & Lou: Why • When • How = Makes for a cool car story. Like the two tone paint colors & the counter weights. A very special car. 😎 • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂

That truck and that Feller are top notch! You won't see the media feature his comments. Good thing an attempt wasn't made in install a Hemi, he wouldn't have a place to sit!
Lou Costabile check out the “Little Dead Express” from Mark Worman at “Graveyard Carz”. He had it at the past SEMA show and had its build featured in his television show.
Beautiful pickup there I like the color now so I assume it'll be red white and blue by years end. They used a shoe horn to get that motor In there sounds good too. That would of made a great wheel stamder if the motor was in the back.
Nice . It's an early 1964 and the ID Plate should be 186-2000000 . The 18= A 100 pick-up , 6= 170/225 slant 6 cyl , 2=Warren Plant Mi , then the sequence for 64 that was 000001-14999 , 65 was 0015000-0054999. The sequence was also used to denote the Model year since they were made at the Warren Plant until about 1970 when the Mosourri was added and used thier own Code . The engine cover brings back memories when I had a summer helper in 1966 to deliver groceries but it was a 65 Chevy van G-10 . We delivered from 1:00 - 3:00 in the hot sun with no AC , the engine cover got so hot i couldn't rest my hand on it. The Heater fan was on high to cool the engine while that cover was often opened up for air flow. The front window was almost vertical with the grill , this maent that during a rear collision to a truck you pretty well had about a 1 yard before you kiss the rear door of the truck . We drove locally at 25 mph .....but good luck in a crash at 50 mph . btw I've seen the A 100 Vans in canada back then which were used by BELL telephone but all exports from the USA were badged as FARGO on the front .
unusual that he says that is a 1963 A-100. the first production year was 1964, but that vehicle is post 1967. after that year they added the dash crash bar, which has been removed but you can still see the holes for it, you can see the hole where the ignition switch was for the later model, the doors are from the latter years and back up lights were not added until later years, also. easy guess is that is probably a 1969 as that was Dodges highest production and most popular year. and as Gary wood said, a quick glance at the VIN plat will tell you everything.
Considering how rare these are, I believe as if not more than a superbird, it's sad that the people who restore these can't seem to keep them bone stock original. And thats the trend unfortunately I with about 90% of all old vehicles today. The parts are and will only continue to become more rare , as well as the people that appreciate a FACTORY vehicle. It's cool this is on the road, but it's lost forever in the "I can do this better than all of the engineer's in Detroit that had far more education than me" crowd. There is just something about an old vehicle that is still the same as when it was built. A time capsule. But what should I expect since I now live in a country that can't wait to take down all civil war statues and the like, and rewrite history. Fake people, fake history, fake food, hey that's my country!
Hi Chet Tennant, Glad to read you appreciate the uniqueness of this pickup :-) Yes I like original too, and it reminds us of exactly how the Designers and Engineers created it, and better yet brings us back in time preserving history too. Times change, and we move on, Lou
Certainly I appreciate an original car but the thought of driving a 1970 Hemi Cuda with the four-wheel drum brakes and no power assist doesn't make any sense to me if you're going to have a car like that you need to bring it up to safety standards disc brakes power brakes Etc unless you're simply going to have a car restored to sit in the museum which in my view total waste of an automobile
I learned to drive stick on my grandfather's 1964 Dodge D100 pickup. Great pieces of history. This here is such a pretty truck.
Sounds like wonderful memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.

I always thought trucks like that are super cool regardless of Ford GM or Chrysler and I belive VW had one also
Hi larry borkstrom, Glad to read you enjoy this "super cool" pickup :-) Lou
I agree - very neat! The Ford, Dodge, Corvair, Chevy and VW were all very funky.
This one is very nicely done.
Thanks Lou!
There was also a Corvair pickup that is really cool .
Good one Lou . You should do a few more trucks . Thanks for posting .
Hi Bud Lee, Glad you enjoy this one. Every now and then on "My Car Story" a pickup is too good to pass up and slips in :-) Lou
Again looks like a Big Hot Wheel, remember as a kid playing with them, in a Galaxy far far away...
Hi Mo Garcia, You're right, it does looks like a big Hot Wheel :-) Lou
Just really cool!
Nice :-)
Wow, that is a rare one, since they didn't release the A100 until 1964. In 1964 they only built approx. 550 pickup versions.
