- What a beauty. I can see why this is held in such high regard! In this video I review something that is regarded as a classic! It's mentioned in "The Silence of the Lambs" movie which always gives me chills.
You can buy this fragrance here....

I wore this to the office one day and several men smelled it and went “wow”. Never had a man notice a fragrance before or since.
Dang, pretty sure they fall in love with you as the parfum should have been familiar to the ...more experienced ones, remembering their mom..
It is incredible how powerful the smell sense is and how it can bring us back in time!
Did you have the vintge Version or the recent one? Because the new Version to me smells not very good.
This was a top notch review of a real classic beauty. I so enjoyed it. Cheers!
+Lanier Smith Thanks Lanier. It's a preeeeety one.
I wore this perfume in high school in the 70’s.
It was amazing then, it will be amazing forever.
Whenever I wear this perfume men and women tells me "oh you smell so good mmmm" or they ask "what is it?" This is a very classy perfume.
L' Air du Temps is one of my most favourite perfumes of all time. It is ultra feminine and classy. I own no other perfume that even smells similar to it. It is a true masterpiece. I adore it. It was one of the first two fragrances I ever fell in love with many decades ago now. Glad you reviewed it! ☺
Yes ... an Eternal Classic .... My aunt used to wear this quite often ... it just smells so beautiful.... Your right mate it's amazing how this perfume has stood the test of time... Its right up there with all the other classics like " Youth Dew, Shalimar,Chanel no.5, " Whenever I smell these fragrances ( in malls of course, I don't own any of them) it transports me back in time when everything was pure & life was simple..... You have a brilliant nose my friend .... You must do more classic reviews ...
+John Bernard I certainly will!! They are some of the best and should be ignored!
ummmm... if they're some of the best y should they be ignored?
+John Bernard Haha I meant SHOULDN'T be ignored. :)
yeah thought as much mate... ;)
Love your reviews. Especially what you said about people saying some scents are "granny". When Shalimar or L'Air du Temps came out, or had been out a little while, young ladies wore them and were considered chic. True classics have no age. I'm not sure the bubble gum scents will become classics. L'Air is a favorite of mine. Yes, it was just beautiful in the 1980s but is still wonderful. I LOVE aldehydes...and carnation!
Id just watched your Shalimar and Nina Ricci reviews, then this one played.
:) Yes, it's strange to thing that the sweet scents of now will be vintagey soon. VERY strange but that also makes me really excited to see where fragrance will go in the future too! :)
One thing I adore about this fragrance is it isn’t heavy or old lady-ish. For instance I could never understand what people love about Chanel #5 as it smells (to me) dated and not very pretty. But this classic is just lovely. Men typically follow me around and ask what I’m wearing. A little creepy but people really are drawn to it.
I'm sure you can find a 2 gallon jug of Love's Baby Soft online somewhere if it's important to you never to smell "old ladyish" (aka sophisticated), or just stick some used bubblegum behind your ear.
@@Marcel_Audubon did you wake up on the wrong side of the grave this morning? LOL!
@@catherinevalli6830 apparently! LOL!!
This fragrance of the epitome of femininity, beauty and dove 🧼. I'm in love, for months I'd been looking for a scent exactly like this and all I came across was florals and citrus scents, boring. This is fantastic and I prob will need backup bottles. Just wow this is lovely
Thanks for sharing!!
My mom told me today that she used to wear this when she was younger and her bday is coming up and I want to get it for her again. She used to wear Chanel no.5 and I bought that for her and she said it brought her back to when she was in her 20s. She never could buy it again bc it was too expensive. I love fragrances bc they can bring back so many memories. I'm definitely going to try and surprise her with this fragrance.
That will be a nice surprise and yes, fragrances can instantly conjure up memories it's amazing. I hope she likes it! :)
Fun Fact L'air du Temp was the perfume Hannibal Lechter mentioned that Clarice wore in Silence of the Lambs. That said, it smells beautiful!
Sometimes you wear l’air du temps, but not today! Look up a fragrance by a company called UNUM called “but not today” it’s themed on that moment! 👍
I'm right, I wear both, even aviance skin cream back in the day, what a coincidence, I always did like Hannibal Lechter character, he had good taste in scents!
This is my favorite fragrance and have wore it for over 20 years . The spicy and powder like notes are what have me. I’m not keen on floral scents but this is a perfect blend .
My Mom loves this fragrance her last bottle was a white plastic cylinder with the birds on it in eau de toilette concentration... Gonna buy her another bottle and wondering if I should get her the EDT or EDP in 100 or 50 size respectively the biggest size that I know for each concentration today
My grandmother still wears this and she always smelled lovely and fresh from my childhood until today.
I thought I heard or read somewhere that the stopper was designed by rene lalique, well known for his master jewelry and crystal making.
Curiously I have never met anyone wearing it so I can’t relate it to people I know.
Is a lovely and beautifully elegant and charming perfume. Fresh like a spring day in a country garden but classy like a walk along Seine river.
Well I had to get it for my collection and I love it too!
Beautiful review!
Wonderful classic scent...you make a great description of what L’air du Temps smells like. I love the scent and I love the doves 🕊 too
Thanks!
je l'adore il ressemble beaucoup a Fidji de Guy laroche 😍.
très bon parfum merci ❤❤
I adore classic scents 🕊💛
O MY GOD THANK YOU!! I love your description and I do use this as a straight out of the shower fragrance. I don't like to compare it to soap even though it's tempting to liken it to classic Dove soap because of the doves on the stopper. This is an ultra feminine white floral scent and it gives me a wedding day fragrance vibe. I also do feel it's peaceful, soothing, a fragrance for world peace. A humanitarian beauty. Very Julie Andrews and Princess Diana. I hope you buy a bottle. All you have is a vial spray LOL
+Rachel Paray You're welcome! It most certainly is a calming, soft, peaceful perfume. I'm not sure I will buy a bottle though. I did this review for you! haha. :)
Wow great review; you described my favorite fragrance for almost 30 years now, Perfectly.......
You're the "Man"👍💞🤗
Thanks for an AWESOME Top Notch Review of a true Classic Fragrance ....makes me feel like I know a little bit of what good fragrance means!💪🤓
i just received this one...it was an other successful blind buy! It is so good! i love it!
My mother has worn this all my life. It smells like carnations on her and I always buy her a bottle and a dozen on her birthday.
Who is watching this video in 2022?? Omg I just bought this perfume and I am obsessed… i smell more of luxurious soap than a rose. Getting back ups just in case 🥰🥰🥰
I'm watching and I have always loved this beautiful Fragrance,🤗💯
Just bought a bottle today, by the way, it's
July 18, 2022👌
Loved your Comment 🌹
I’m watching in 2024😊
My mother used to wear this fragrance. Been thinking about getting her a bottle so she can relieve her youth!
+Angelica Guerrero You must! It will probably bring back floods of memories for her. That's the power of fragrance and one of the main reason I love it. :)
This was my mom's signature scent... I'd love to smell this one again! Great reviews btw!
Thanks!! You should get some just for the Nostalgia! It's a part of the magic of perfumery!
I absolutely will. It's going on my "to buy" list!!
I smell this perfume within Narciso Poudrée. Really strongly.
The first time I smelt it, I couldn't go past the opening. The clove and aldehyde made a very artificial, sharp accord to me. I'm still not very used to the soapy note in some classic fragrances, but I've slowly warmed up to it. :P Looking forward to your review of Amarige. :D
+StellaDiverFlynn Amarige!!!! Yes I must do that one soon. :) Soon soon! :)
Im so glad that you did this review Tommy... This perfume had phenomenal success in the mid 90s if i could recall.. I absolutely love classy clean soapy scent, especially Christian Dior Poison Tendre... but i know this perfume although it has that soapy characteristic, but i will be very much sharper and feminine than the Poison Tendre...
Many of us older folks know L'air Du Temps" from their TV commercials many years ago. Check them out on UA-cam. The song sung in these commercials was done in both English and French. Years after I heard the commercials, I'd decided to try this cologne just to see if the scent was as good as the song. It was nice, but didn't especially impress me. "Wind Song" a fragrance that is still made (and first came on the market in 1953) seems to have been based on "Lair du Temps."
I’m here because Clarice from silence of the lambs apparently wears this
Apparently she does, but only sometimes....but not today.
This bottle and lid look so heart-breaking, kind of "an epoch gone with the wind". (Why am I watching this in November of such a depressing year - I don't know!))))))
this perfume is the one my grandma wore she recently passed and I went to her house and took the perfume she always stood put for her smell I love it.
There are a few perfumes that are like no others.
hank you. It is good to go back and revisit the classics.
+Felecia Brown It certainly is!
This is my only one perfume and I wear it for more than 30 years now.
Loosely translated as an air of happening, like the commercial "something's in the air" . I wish they still made the actual perfume. I had it as a teen as a gift from my mom. But as an adult I rarely find any fragrance has an actual perfume formulation just eau de toilette and eau de parfum. What's that about ???? It was always special to have the actual perfumes of scents because the bottles were special too. This has a better sillage if you apply over lotion, whether matching or unscented ( which will hold it well without interfering ) I am new to your channel and I absolutely l love it. 🤩
I ADORE carnation. The best fragances I have found with it are Adieu Sagesse, Jean Patou and L'Heure Bleue, Guerlain. There's one from Comme des Garcons that is supposed to smell purely carnation, but I haven't tried it...
+j ule Oh really? cool, what's the comme de garcon one I wonder? I like that brand. Thanks I'll investigate.
it is called series 2 Red Carnation. I havent tried it, but I have to... :-D
Cool thanks, I'm gonna look it up.
Hello! Fabulous review as always. I too agree that they don't make fragrances the way they used to. With that being said I was wondering if you could review Salvatore Ferragamo Incanto? I know a lot of his, including the flankers to Incanto, are rather fruity, but this one is a bit older and I'm quite curious! Thanks!
+Kelly Moore Hi Kelly, thanks for your comment. The salvatore one isn't one I've got a sample of at this very moment but, if I ever get it..I will try to review it! :)
I'm watching this because in the movie Silence of the Lambs, Anthony Hopkins said, "...and you wear L'air de Temps, but not today..." to Jodie Foster.
L'Air du Temps is a bit too low-pitched & rose-forward to my nose; it has twice the carnation & twice the rose (top & heart notes); I prefer the more carnation-y-less rosy Wind Song which emits a less formal/mature vibe than L'air du Temps. Of course vintage is best!
good review ... just fyi, both the p and the s are silent in temps
I read about L'Air Du Temps somewhere at a blog, stated this perfume was the favorite of Queen Sofia of Spain
Just got some delivered today. Love this scent.xx
Hope you enjoy it!
So...I may be weird, but there's a toothpaste note I smell as soon as I apply First by Van Cleef and Arpels. I love it. Also, I kinda like that hairspray note in fragrances. Are those the aldehydes? I absolutely love aldehydes.
Hmm aldehydes come in many forms but the more common ones used in older fragrances like this are more soapy and clean, they add a bit of sparkle. It's a REALLY hard thing to describe. It's really prominent in Dune by Dior and Chanel no 5.
What about the original Estee? That was my signature for 20+ years until they ruined it. Vintage Norell was a signature during college. So many compliments on both. I just really enjoy your reviews.😁
I remember this one well but I never wore it so I don't remember how it smelled. I will check it out next time I go to Macys or something. I think I saw it at CVS so may not have to go to dept. store.
Re the Lush bubble bath..milky bath or milky bar? I’m not sure 😊
Great review.. Bought bottle for lady today figuring i couldnt go wrong with French
Обожаю этот аромат, настоящая классика в детстве у меня был, но пузырёк был немного другой а аромат тот же.
Great review, just do not pronounce the p at the end if the word temp..French language grammar rule you never pronounce the letters in the word DePoSiTo so you never hear a D,P,S,T at the end if a French word ..
Written: l'Air du Temp, Pr: l'Air du tan
hi. mr ouch xx yes lovley classic just ran out xx about two weeks ago .bought it for years as im 47 lol .have you tri3d anne anne by casherlle im getting rhat soon fluffy lov3d the way you uswd thqt word y3s classic it is it dont last 9n me though lol xxx
+Samantha Page Hi Samantha. Do you mean Anais Anais? If so..yes I have. I kinda reminds me of being young, my mum used to wear it and it's a lovely floral too. Not as soft as this though, much more bold. This one is lovely. I think the next kinda classic fragrance I will review will be Amarige.
How do you break the seal?
Which seal? :)
Love this review
Too bad they've changed the formula for this!! I constantly look for a decanter that comes fcomes from years ago.
I think it smells like soap
It does. :) It was at a time when soapy clean fragrances burst onto the market. :)
@@ouch110hi tommy do you think its bees reformulated again ?
