- Incredible video of killer whales seen attacking small and large boats off the coast of Spain.
There's been an increase in these encounters and some wonder why.
Orca sightings off of San Diego’s coast usually start in June, but we're told they're still pretty far south.

The expert that doesn't think animals are capable of revenge never owned a cat
lol
yeah this dude is full of shit, animals do revenge
Got mad at my sisters puppy one time, came back from work and found he took a shit on my bed.
Every time I left for the full weekend during my sports tournaments when I was a kid my 200 lb Saint Bernard would take the trash can in the kitchen and dump it on my bed. She usually would also find a full gatorade bottle and chew it on my bed spilling it on my sheets. She would always come check on me if I was in my room too long but never went in there when I was there. Her demeanor would be very different if I was gone friday night- Sunday night for these tournaments. She wasn't ashamed of what she did but just would be very standoffish. Extremely intelligent dog, learned all the commands but piss her off and she'd target you if you spent too much time away from home.
Cats... Assholes of the animal kingdom.
It was an orca-strated attack!
ENCORE!
hahahahahahahahahahaha good one!!

Revenge not be quite the right word, but Animals totally get angry, and if the Orca pod's Queen has had a traumatic experience with Boats (Maybe a fishing net killed her Calf?) , she might well decide she just *really* doesnt like boats, and has decided to do something to try and get them out of her territory.
They should shoot these orcas, next time they will kill someone or just destroy a boat and people will drown if coast guard don't find them soon- now it's summer and people can stay long in the sea but in the winter time they are dead after half of hour from hypothermia
This is happening all over. We need to capture and examine them. I think there is something else happening.
@@smartwatchonplutocapture and examine them? People like you are the very reason these attacks are happening in the first place. Just let these beatiful animal be

My Orca Story
When I was 7 on family holiday in Norway we went for a quick water drive. My life vest failed and I couldn’t swim. My parents didn’t notice I was going under. As I went under I could see 2 orcas swimming towards me. One of the orcas put its head under my back and took me directly to the boat. They continued to swim around the boat for about 10 minutes after I got on almost like they were checking to make sure I was ok. Orcas Rock!
That is the most amazing story .tell it more plz
Yeah I call bullshit
You should write a novel
If this story is true, that's absolutely amazing. If you're making it up, you're a scumbag.
There is also a footage of two orcas swam pass two kids and they were pretty chill despite the kids scream in horror
What makes you think this is playful behaviour?? They know what people do and they had enough.

Yeah uh huh, I've also seen them nature documentaries where orcas hunt seals and throw them around like ragdolls. Hunting and playing seem connected with these animals and who knows, maybe they're not attacking for food but i wouldn't be shocked if it turns out they were just messing with them.
Like "pssst, hey bill, watch me rip the steering fin off this thing. I'm even gonna rub it in their faces!"
This is the same species that tosses seals around before eating them. This is playful behavior, just because its scary to us doesn’t mean they aren’t having a hell of a time.
"Animals don't do revenge" seems like such a non-scientific thing to say. Big cats (or small) for instance, seem to 100% know what revenge is (I remember cases of tigers).
And the more intelligent the animal the more bad things we seem to share with them.
yeup, dolphins have been observed bullying and raping.
My thoughts exactly. Not to mention how whales have proven to turn on owners in captivity....they were proven to stay at the scene and either die grieving over the kidnapping of their young (for seaworld) or refused to leave the area, searching for their young. They are INCREDIBLY SMART.
ravens also take revange so its not that uncommon
Primates Chimps for example def do revenge 100% such stupid thing to say certain animals even dogs, cats def do revenge
@@mjj789what's that got to do with revenge
I read something once that said something along the lines of:
Orcas warn each other about things like whaling ships. Within a year there was a 50% drop in whaling deaths. Not because the whalers became more unskilled in that time- but because the orcas were warning their pods and other pods of the dangers. They are incredibly intelligent, even having unique names that they answer to and call each other. I don’t doubt that some of them are fed up with their treatment. Whether it be whaling, disturbing their hunting grounds, disturbing breeding grounds/young- they have every right to be upset.
We're animals ourselves, homo sapiens, family Great Apes. It's not hard to understand my Orcas, they think like us.
If you have ships constantly disturbing your sleep, and they're stealing the fish from your waters, what would you do? I'd take out those ships.
@@lookdawg187Same argument can be applied to people shooting Orcas that are threatening to attack their boats... don't you think?
@@Tx.-bn7iv sure, but that only reinforced their need to attack the boats to begin with.
Up next, boat wars, just like we had during the whale hunting.
I've never heard of orcas being a target of whalers. They typically went after whales. If young orcas are crazy enough to think it's fun to swim around with dead salmon on their heads, snatching rudders isn't that big a jump. Human teenagers re destructive too. Blast attacking orcas with high-volume sound at the right frequency using a hydrophone and I predict they'll leave pretty quickly.
What are you talking about? They may or may not have cause. They may just be trying to get the boats operators to throw food. Knock it off
“Animals don’t do revenge “
ELEPHANT: let you tell it 😳
I'm reading very sad comments from people who don't know anything about these creatures, i.e. "they aren't called killer whales for no reason", or even "we need to capture and examine them". These creatures, people, have proven to be very smart, they have their own language, dialect, family, culture even. Like other sea mammals they also have something most humans lack these days, empathy. People have been hunting them, killing or catching their children for the sole purpose of human entertainment. It is obvious they will retaliate, as humans would. Start having more respect for other species, instead of thinking we can take what we want from nature without consequences.
You are so right
They’re my Favorite Sea Creatures!!!!!🤗🤗🤗

Ever heard of that elephant that took revenge on a old lady... these animals aren't stupid.

Can we talk about the fact that they are intelligent enough to take out the rudder?
....... its the thing that sticks off the most of the boat underwater lol ofc its going to rip it off, its the easy thing to get to for them lol
Was just thinking that
Yes they are all going for the rudders. It's learnt behaviour. And no the rudder is Not the only thing below the waterline.
that's because it's extremely loud and the sound probably really bothers them. noise pollution in the ocean is getting bad enough on cargo routes that it can be painful to whales that get too close
I love the dismissive ocean expert. This is totally revenge, they are one of the smartest animals alive next to us. They have multiple languages in different oceans around the world. I think they can feel anger and remember traumatic incidents.
They are actually probably smarter than us. A lot smarter
They'd be way smarter if they could write things down. Even if they had, just like, a pencil or a biro. Scary thought.
good for them. they’ve had enough.
Hes an expert on nothing if he thinks animals aren’t capable of seeking revenge
Orcas are highly intelligent and somewhat tolerant of us. I suspect someone messed around and a Orca got harmed. They learn quickly and pass it on which is why it seems to be a local experience and not worldwide, but give it time and maybe more in a larger area can be "taught" to go after more boats. I hope I'm wrong but we need to back off for awhile.
They know it is the human who are messing up the ocean.
back off from where? just stop all boat activity? the theory is that it is a game passed down socially and also happens up north more recently. if it happens more often it's only going to end up bad for the orcas who might end up facing 'revenge' attacks by people or hurt themselves ramming into a propeller. like with any other animal behaving badly there needs to be some way of teaching them its bad to ram boats without seriously harming them, like how you spray a cat with water lol.
@@20ZZ20 When I saw "back off some", I mean reduce the amount of contact if possible and not engage them. Orcas have become too much of a tourist attraction.
bullshit, they are prob just being territorial
Are we expected to believe you?😮😂😂😂😂 NOPE!
Trauma induced by a boat is a very likely factor, if they wanted to harm the humans they would have done just that because they are some of the most powerful animals within the ocean, capable of flipping ice bergs very smart and work together but so far that has not happened. But as the man states, they could be playing, if it has turned into a game for them they will continue. Whatever happens, hopefully they will come out with a deterrent to avoid any incidents. The whales should not be harmed.
Orca's are the top predator of the ocean. They are at the very top of the food chain. Every animal in the oceans fear them. They eat whatever they want. If you're in their territory and want to eat you they will.
Orcas are one of the only animals who haven't attacked a human in the wild*
But we keep on messing with them and that just might change. Curious to see what comes of this behaviour.
And they have the strongest bite in the whole animal kingdom. They can even kill white sharks with ease.
Stupid
@@xBaphometHx That has been registered so far. A salt Walter crocodile if it had the size of an orca would generate a way higher registered psi bite.
Orca would lose 1 vs 1 against a sperm whale. Sperm whales can generate clicks with over 200 decibels. Imagine being roasted internally by sound waves. 200 decibels is similar to an atomic bomb exploding just so you have an idea.
Yeah I find that a funny statement since they definitely get frustrated and will kill humans when they’re in captivity.
They have attacked humans before... And now they are actively hunting us for FOOD not revenge
Animals might not do revenge but they will try to eliminate a threat.
Great point
I'd love to hear their communication during these events. Sometimes we underestimate animals abilities. They are very intelligent & it could be a territorial issue.
Word it’s fascinating
Killer Wales, Elephants, Gorillas, they are very intellectual animals, and have been known to seek revenge on humans. If you think humans are the only creatures on the planet that seek revenge, you have underestimated their abilities.

The people I've known from Wales were quite lovely. I don't think we should go around calling them "killer Wales." Killer whales are entirely different beast.

Thank you
I don’t think it’s revenge, I think it’s more like they consider boats a threat.
I'm glad all the times I've seen them in the northern Pacific they've always been inquisitive, but never done anything like shown here. No one wants to kill an orca, but if they give you no choice...
It seems so obvious to me this area where their attacking is now breeding ground or mating ground. Any animal from horses, bulls, moose, bears, hawks, all animals will defend its perceived territory that is being encroached upon. Can’t believe Marine Biologist actually said it was play. I’ve been in the NZ coast and have seen pods approach kayakers with no aggression. This is aggressive behavior to ward off.
Do you think playing with a piñata is being aggressive?
You're looking at it from the human perspective rather than from their perspective. You see it as aggressive because they're damaging boats, but those boats are inanimate objects. It's really no more aggressive than if we were to kick a can down the street and dent it by doing so.
They're not harming the humans, even when the humans end up in the water.
I’m glad they are fighting back!
Whales getting tired of people entering they’re home like its vacation time 😂
They are dolphins
That guy is no expert to say animals don’t do revenge. It would be one thing to name a specific animal, but anyone with half a brain would catch that error.
I think they have learned not to be afraid of boats anymore because they aren't hunted anymore. They are animals which are all more confident in packs or pods and they probably have learned it's ok to play with boats over there. We have strict rules here in the Washington state when it comes to boating around whales but I'd imagine people in other countries don't care so much about being considerate of these incredibly smart mammals when they're cruising through and not stopping for the whales to try not hurt them and not throwing out garbage or making noises they don't like or messing with them. Fishing around them even isn't a good idea because they will follow you and wait for you to catch a fish so they can eat it and if you don't feed them like maybe someone else does they might get upset.
That got boring really quickly.
@whatsthatnow308 I never said it was supposed to be entertaining.
Here’s a theory for two whole years we humans were stuck inside, no cruises, no excursions and now we’re back! And now the animals are like “why are you back” go back inside. Just recently we’ve had a slew of bear sightings in areas there never were bears before and one that I heard had to be shot. They didn’t think we were coming back out again 😂 Just a thought🤔
Orcas have been known to attack whales much larger than them and seemingly harass them for no apparent reason. Scientist at first believed they were hunting, however after further studies the orcas showed no interest in actually eating the whales. Orcas have also been known to attack and torture seals, thrashing them around like toys and end up not eating them. Scientists are still unsure why they do this, but ultimately they’ve come to the conclusion that… “It’s fun.” Orcas are very intelligent and harassing and killing other creatures for pleasure is not uncommon in highly intelligent animals. They also might be using the boats to teach their young ones how to hunt by using the boat as some sort of learning tool representing a large animal. These are just theories however and there’s no way to know for certain why they’re doing this.
There's a movie named "Orca" 1980....and clearly states that orcas are capable of revenge!!! And it definitely locks like it.....they're extremely intelligent....

That footage they showed didn't look much like an attack. Wouldn't that be interesting, the first animal to give people feedback for abusing the planet.
You really believe these "scientists" who say humans are responsible for CO2 and the "climate change". No animal is that stupid
If you wonder why this has started suddenly, they are communicating to each other about it and it has become a “trend” they are very smart creatures, good argument for the spot of second smartest animal in the world.

The expert is still under the impression that animals are unable to do certain things. Dolphins are probably the most spiteful MF’s in the waters, so why wouldn’t Orka’s be able to take “revenge?”. Experts say that Orka’s are unable to even have a notion of revenge. Why don’t they just admit that these animals are very capable to remember danger or something that hurt them? If someone kicks a dog realy agressive, they will remember that when they see that person again, and they either run away out of fear, or they wil react very agressive. Towards that person.
So the legendary Kraken wasn’t a giant octopus, it was a giant dolphin.
"Animals dont do revenge" bruh doesn't know the story about the Elephant and a funeral
Elephants are entirely entirely different species. In fact they are the most intelligent animals on earth next to dolphins. They feel emotions differently and more complex like. Some say they have the intelligence of a 4-5 year old human being that’s how advanced their brains are
@sharonpeters69 Orcas are intelligent aswell they dolphins on steroids. The fact that they ramming down boats intentionally should show they are doing it out of revenge

Animals adapt and overcome and learn to attack to protect their own
I would be interested to hear what type of past experience the queen had with other boats. If it was a negative experience, I certainly understand the queen.
One boat using sonar is enough, sonar is incredibly loud and distressing for them
They may not do revenge, but they are highly intelligent. They have more than likely associated the boats with their inability to eat. Over fishing is a thing. A lot of pods actually following fishing boats around. Orcas are more than likely trying to get rid of their food source "competition"
Nature has had enough of humans destroying everything..
"Humans" HA! Palm people..
What kind of animal expert says "People do revenge. Animals do not?" The kind who has never owned a cat, because I can assure you, if you make a cat mad, they will get revenge, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but you can rest safe in the knowledge it will get it.
No!he Is right!animals do not take revenge!people only do!
The whale expert is actually correct. Animals do not hold grudges and think “ah that one time they made me mad so I’m gonna get em back now!” 😆 😂
Of course they do. Foolish opinion by another 'expert'. I immediately doubt 'experts' nowadays. The cat paradigm was great, I own cats and they absolutely take revenge.
While I don't think Orcas took revenge on that boat, I am 150% sure that it has to do with shortage of food supply instigated by greedy humans. Orcas are not dumb, if they feel humans directly or indirectly threaten their livelihoods, they will attack, and rightfully so.
Cats are finicky to begin with. You could have them your whole life & still not be able to completely trust them. It’s why if an owner dies the cats will eventually eat the owner. A dog will not.

This has to be hard on their own brains you would think? ramming hard structures is something strange for such a smart creature
Orcas are very aggressive creatures.I have read books about Arctic explorers in the mid 1800s encountering them while out on the ice. The explorers said that the orcas were intent upon knocking them off the ice floes, ramming the ice repeatedly, in an effort to dislodge the ice or the men.
My Mi'kmaq ancestors told of "bad fish" that would attack their birch bark canoes. To trick them, they started carrying large branches to create shade so they wouldn't get too close, for fear of breaching themselves, thinking it was land. The Indians never called them killer wales, they called them whale killers. The colonialists misunderstood.
Are they fuck aggressive! They've only killed 4 humans, and those orcas were in captivity.
@@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism correct, whale killers is right as they aren't even whales- they are the biggest species of dolphin. And the behaviour they are exhibiting is exactly the kind they use to disable and then prey on whales - ramming them and then "feeding" on a very small proportion of the carcass
There is _one_ documented case of an orca ramming and ice flow that an explorer _and his dog_ were on. There is no evidence that the orca was being aggressive towards the human.
There has only ever been one documented incident of an orca in the wild attacking a human - a surfer who was bitten.
Even when they damage and sink boats, they do absolutely no harm to the humans who end up in the water.

An orca probably got hurt by a propeller or struck by a boat, so that pod started destroying boats. Boats have been around for over 2 thousand years. Only now this is happening. Something happened that triggered this. Either that or the matriarch of that pod is crazy.
Boats are made of cheap fiberglass now. They used to be made of thick strong wood and steel
@@robbarber7253 that changes nothing and explains nothing on why orcas are attacking them. There are still wooden ships today and steel warships, but that doesn't answer why orcas are now attacking them.
@@one4all885 The point must've went over your head. An orca isn't going to be able to destroy a large wooden or steel ship like it could do to a fiberglass one since it's a much weaker material... I know there are steel and wooden ships still I never said there wasnt. Also steel isn't exclusive to "war ships" so im not sure why you included that "war ships" part. You mentioned boats have been around for 2000 years (actually alot longer than that but ok). Fiberglass has only been used in boats since around the 1940s-50s so it's not surprising they're now able to sink vessels that otherwise would've been constructed from much stronger materials. Regardless it's not like we have a historical database that has an accurate recollection of every interaction between orcas and boats for the last 2000 years so sort of a nonsense question to begin with.
@@robbarber7253 that still answers nothing. Fiberglass has been around for a long time, but only now orcas are attacking boats. Orcas have not attacked ships or boats in the past. No records of it and people would have been able to live to tell the story since their ships were tougher.
@@one4all885 Actually it does since you were originally questioning how boats hadnt been attacked in 2000 years and I pretty much dismanted that entirely. since you're absolutely wrong and there are more accounts of orcas attacking boats than only in the last few years. Orcas have been playing with boats for as long as boats have been around orcas. This isn't a new behavior, it is simply an increase in behavior.
Maybe they've turned it into some sort of competition.
The whale must have been pretty pissed! Maybe it witnessed one of its own being killed by man! They’re very intelligent, and I read when Europeans were discovering new islands and continents (Australia) to be specific , orca’s were repeatedly said to have aided and saved many seafarers lives from drowning,by bringing them to the beach, keeping them above water as if they knew humans can’t breathe under water?. And their behaviour changed when the new comers started killing large numbers of the whales,,,
Orcas are dolphins .
I guarantee you it's a revenge for hitting the mother orca. There are extremely intelligent animal, with one used to help whalers pull whales into the bay. I say graze one of these orcas with a bullet the next time they try to ram a boat to draw some blood, and hope that the blood will scare them away like the sharks.
Those people are provoking the whales by tapping on the boat.
Good guys are winning this round.
They are brilliant creatures… they teach their young . They pass down knowledge. They are smart AF.. someone did something to them with a boat. And yes they do revenge.. it’s ignorant af for that man to say they don’t do revenge. Have you seen them hunt? When a seal hides on a block of ice they make waves to flip it over. They turn sharks upside down to immobilize them and take what they want . I have always said they are the true rulers of the sea. That’s not playing. It’s a message. Idk what ppl did. Harass them, hunt them or just hurt them somehow. Either way, words out. They communicate like lionesses when they hunt. W.e keep sleeping on them..
Pollution!! They are tired of it too!!
BS- not playful.
If you're mean to an animal(any), repeatedly, and see how it affects their interactions with you and others... Someone screwed with that pod, and now they're acting out.
One orca, Gladys, got mad. She attacked a boat, found it was effective, started teaching others in the pod. Now it's a gang of vandals trashing boats. You'd think the whole "we can sink your boat, easy" along with "we can swim all day long, can you?" would convince people that some things aren't to be ignored, but people do stupid stuff all the time.
GET OUT OF THERE TERRITORY!PERIOD!
@@kellyanndean9374 Absolutely! Ban all boats, ships, water conveyances of any kind.
Outlaw swimming in the ocean, too .

You went overboard like a child throwing tantrums. Lets look at it clearly if you dont mind.
How about we stop over fishing the waters, stop polluting their homes, stop capturing them and keeping them secluded in small tanks for our entertainment. How could we still try to blame them as if they're at fault. These are living creatures not robots that take orders on command.
To assume only humans have a capacity to think is incredibly shortsighted. These are warnings, not some sort of joke. Easy for us to "enjoy life" and ignore how we're destroying their lives.
I'm beginning to think we need a reality check soon.
People in bad neighborhoods learn bad behavior too.
It's called a Grudge - like an angry bird - they hold grudges.
Man, who's never heard of bison, elephants, lions, housecats, merecats, chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, or baboons:
"Animals don't do revenge"
Like, are you kidding? Chimpanzees are _KNOWN_ for getting violent mobs together for the _express_ purpose of exacting revenge.
Have you not heard of the internet affect / movie affect ..
After jaws came out people were killing sharks on masse!!
If an expert came out and said it was revenge people will start fearing them and potentially attacking them first as a defence
Cause most stupid humans would hear that and start to panic / take matters into their own hands
… it’s like when experts said masks didn’t stop Covid spreading because there was a horrible mask shortage and surgeons / hospitals workers were struggling to find them:
So officials made such announcements.. then retracted it when masks were more available
(I know people working in medical sectors and they said the initial announcement was to stop people mindlessly panic buying masks)

That guy saying animals don’t do revenge is no expert and clearly lives in Lala land
Bruh, obviously never watched Jaws. 😂😂

Revenge? They hunt, that's what they do. What do humans do on land?
Sit around like zombies after working their day away. Humans are batteries, running large corporations and making their social media platforms. Without people, none of these things would function.
Hollywood is more than suspense and action movies. It's time to wake up and see things how they should be.
@@kellyanndean9374 calm down Kelly
Watch Orca. Even more on point. But doesn’t make it revenge because a movie portrays it as such.
Wonder if the wales have anything to do with the missing little sub???
Good point. I didn’t think about that until I heard about these Orcas.
No, this has been happening off the coast of Portugal for years.
'We have no compassion and we ask no compassion from you. When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror.'
"animals don't do revenge" who is this guy??
Rest assured if my boat is ever under attack by a pod it wont ever happen to any others.🇺🇸✌🏻🍻
That's not something you should be proud of
You sound like a douchebag. You’re gonna kill a whale for wanting to play? Then u put your dumb beer and American flag emoji haha gtfoh
Whales may be fast but a torpedo is faster
@@divoulos5758 Good old harpoon, kill 2 orcas there and they will stay away
@@loverofallthingsgoodandpureSure it is. Helping other people & ending this would be heroic.
Probably just playing
Like how dogs chew toys
They have realized that the prices of the boats are very expensive and they are doing it so that there are more second-hand boats available to everyone
People need to pay more attention to what is actually said. This isn't a new behavior, it is an increase in behavior.
And yes, it's most likely playful. If they were actually being malicious or aggressive, they would be doing a lot more damage, and they would be killing humans, especially the ones who end up in the water during these incidents.
But if you're worried about it, absolutely stay out of _their_ water, away from _their_ home.
There are no orcas where I am so I'm good.
The owners should just fire the flare gun at the first one in range. Turn a few into chum & maybe they’ll stop their playing.
That will make them angry!
You wouldn't like it when they're angry.

Humans are animals, and we're mean, so why will other animals be any different. Great expert, by the way 🤣
That expert was a complete idiot. Animals don't do revenge?? Lions, cats, Chimps, Tigers, Bears , Elephants, Gorillas and more have been documented getting revenge/avenging their species come on mannnn
Because there’s scales. People love to anthropomorphize everything.
@@NinjaRunningWild and the ignorance is bliss.
Orcas to boaters: "We are not capable of revenge, but if you boat in these waters, you do so at your own peril."
It’s the noise pollution pissing them off
I say a couple encounters with a mini gun will put and end this behavior
🙄🤦♀
💔
Killer whales : Let's learn how to kill human...
Lady standing on the edge looking down was literally that one person in the movie that died first 😭😭
At the real risk of being very unpopular and raising an issue that might cause some to reflect differently, it is Possibly in response to over fishing, or like they said a reaction to a collision with a matriarch... but i think its more likely a calf got struck by a rudder..... so the pods are making the boats safer for the calves.......
If it continues carbon fibre reinforced sterns are going to become a must on fibreglass boats.
I think it has something to do with food, either they have been fed by boats in the past and are expecting to be fed or, depending on the area of ocean that they are doing this in, for instance, the Mediterranean. There may be a shortage of food resources for them due to overfishing so they are on the search for alternative sources.
