Orks seem about 10 times more fun to play with their new detachments compared to the Custodes Codex. Since I play both, I'll be leaning into Orks now, big time!
I mean, that's just standard. Orkz iz ten toimes more fun than any ov deez other gitz normally, so of course da orky book'll be more fun dan da otha gitz bookz.

@REDN0AK nope, stormboyz are blood axe lads. Goff distrust them for being un-orky. Even by blood axe standard stormboyz are extra
It's a lore thing, not for gameplay reasons. Gameplay wise it would make sense to give them a bonus, but they aren't speed freaks.

As a long time Kult of Speed enjoyer, I couldn't be happier about what we got. Everything looks fun and targets pretty much everything I already ran with the Index.

that's probably green tide, but that's no less terrifying. Orks are eating good. I think the worst thing about these recent releases is that the imperium seems to be getting bent over and taken from every angle, if the Custodes detachment is any indication.

So hyped. Played orks and only orks for the last 16 years. Always liked speed freaks stuff naturally and always liked the playstyle, but wanted a bit more shooting. Not I have that. I hope nothing changes too much
Despite the fact that custodes look shafted, I am glad at the very least that Orks look fun to play with some of these detachments and are happy for Ork players

Man I have been so jaded for so long that this codex seems like a breath of fresh air. My army consists of almost entirely Dread Mob and Speed Freek themed models.

For all the shiny new kits and shiny new detachment rules, I gotta admit I miss the days of 2nd ed where Orks could pretty much guarantee getting first turn, racing a Warbuggy 24" across the table, drop a MultiMelta template onto the side of the biggest tank the enemy have to basically guarantee a hit, and then drop 2D12+D6+8 armour penetration on the target location and maybe even a couple others at half pen. So much smoldering wreckage

I'm surprised he didn't mention koptas with that sustained hits strat. If you can pull off sustained hits 2 with those rockit launchers, that's a LOT of dmg 3 shots coming in
Against tough stuff, the lethal hits strat is far better. The 5+ to wound just kills all your dmg.
Probably one of the most funny and interesting detachment in the whole game :D And it is said from Tau fan :D
Battlewagon with killsaw meganobz and 10 flash gitz, drop the gitz on a firing spot and send the meganobz to play killsaw with the humies.
Thought about lootas but hell yeah some FG action.

A big deffkopta squad deep striking in with a huge potential to do a massive amount of str 9 shots seems pretty good! And those shokk dragsta hit squads seem very nasty for taking out important characters!

I’ve been trying to figure this out but have come across mixed reviews.
Can you pile in to another unit and fight?
For example:
A tank charges a unit, uses tank shock, kills that unit.
Can it then pile into a unit that it can get into engagement range with and then attack?
If two units are close together or if you charge a transport and the unit inside has to disembark.

I wonder if the Rukkatrukk squigbuggy will be any good, I've always wanted one.
I use one now, and it works good as an indirect weapon platform that sits near or on my deployment zone objective. But as the codex removes the +1 vs infantry the indirect shooting, that will no longer be any good in that use.
I'm surprised you resisted the temptation to make this 30 minutes of engine noises and WAAARGH!

With the video of the other detachments I think it’s safe to say that this codex is an absolute love letter to Orks of almost any kind.
Flashlightz might fall out of favor depending on keywords and movement shenanigans that Blood Axes used to do kind of went to vehicles. Apart from that though, I think there will be a lot of happy gitz, no matter how these detachments perform in the meta.
Flash gitz could still have a place in the bully boys Detachment as there is a strat for full rerolls to hit (shooting or melee) :)
Just to be clear, if a Shokkjump Dragsta counts as making an Advance move when it teleports, and Speek Freaks can shoot after Advancing, that means teleporting and shooting is a thing in Kult of Speed, unless I'm missing something.

I am determined to make this and my Ravewing Company of Hunters a successful list. Exact same detachment rule. Movement is king in 10th.

yet another orks W, promote whoever wrote this codex, these all look strong and fun (capable of being fixed by points increases if OP) as opposed to weak and boring (only exacerbated by points cuts)
I've been pretty underwhelmed by previews + leaks up to now, but this one sounds good.
I don’t recall there being a source for these rules. Are you using a review copy for this information, or is this via leaks? I must’ve missed some Community post about it, since I can’t see any of my beautiful Speed Freek rules.
Oh I really hope they tweak orc flyers enough to be truly usable in this detachment because orky flyers are amazing models.

You can tell what generation an orc vehicle is based on how many syllables are in the name. 1 like Trukk or Buggy? classic. 2 like deffcopta was mid gen. childish 2 word 2 syllable names like boomdakka snazzdragon or rukkatrukk squigbuggy are GW throwing new ideas against the wall to see what sticks

Rukkatruck being purely utility is actually good. The last thing I want is people complaining we have an Imperial Guard Parking Lot simulator happening with all the shooting buffs it can get now. Being pure utility to slow down units is super annoying, but they still have their unit. It should just be automatic instead of on a 4+. I'm already hitting on a 6 GW, this buff will almost never go off haha. Very Orky.

Why not make squig flingin spawn a squig in combat range of an enemy unless the Ork player gets some crap rolls, where it’s just destroyed, and on great rolls it does a free mortal wound and gets to fight immediately? (minus 1 to hit for it though) and I don’t know if the boyz roll 1 D6 or 2D6, so that’s why I just said good rolls or shit rolls

Mega bothers me they NERFED the snazzwagon. That's like the lamest and least useful buggy since it's a short aura -1 to hit on a unit that doesn't want to be that close and you can easily just...walk out of the aura...
Squigbuggy needs to be 80pts without the +1 to hit imo
Rest seems awesome as hell. Deffkoptas being included and at least giving an enhancement to include a battlewagon in some way is gravy.

Most all of this is amazing! The Boomdakkas ability is worthless now since disrupting the shooting of the enemies that would threaten T7+ the most is why you would bring it. Very little infantry shooting concerns a Speed Waaah so on the bench it will stay, better luck in 11th buddy.
