My favorite city in Europe. Historic/Traditional and modern. Vibrant and wonderful people. Even went on a dinner cruise years ago on the lake. Nice seeing this as it brought back great memories.
It's a wonderful city, I totally agree with all that you said! Indeed, those lake dinner cruises are amazing, so many different themes to choose from! I'm really happy you got to enjoy seeing Zurich again!^^
I knoww! I've never encountered such a happy driver who is always announcing things and greeting everyone! He seemed in very high spirits when arriving at the terminus in Altstetten, so despite it being a long and hot day for him, I'm sure he just wanted to share his joy with everyone, a lovely welcome change!! I'm glad you liked it!
Thank you Hugo for yet another super video. Two highlights. At Schiffbau we see an SBB freight train running slowly along the street. Yet another wonder of Swiss transport. There is still a lot of 'waggonload' freight trains in Switzerland, and the railways still go to enormous lengths to get the wagons to their freight customers! At Tiefenbrunnen there is (parked) a very strange looking tram. Is it the tram which goes round various tram terminuses collecting electrical goods destined for recycling?
Yes the tracks at Schiffbau are still very frequently used and are one of the few instances that diesel locomotives are used! Imagine, a diesel locomotive running past the Prime tower, what a strange contrast! And yes you're right, the strange tram is indeed the Cargo tram which is used for the recycling of many goods, I believe you can bring almost all recyclables, but things that are to recycle regularly like electrical goods are quite common! Yeah, it rotates around the city throughout the month, so you have to follow its schedule to know when its near you :)
It keeps the Congestion on the Roads and the Airpollution down to a bearable Minimum, since you can perfectly live in Places like that without the need of a Car to go anywhere :) If you buy the annual Ticket, you can ride every Bus/Tram Route in the City as much as you want for a whole Year, it's way cheaper than Gas and Parkingtaxes and the Costs (Maintenance,Insurance) a car has...
If anyone knows. . .the flashing amber light on the console--is that indicating the exterior flashing lights at the front and rear of the vehicle? And is it only deactivated by driver input? When I was visiting Zurich, I was wondering about how that worked.
I am glad to see that the Trams are coming back to UA-cam.
They definitely will be even more with me on the case :) I'm your go to guy from trams!!^^

@@hugobazin8052 Thanks Hugo for the very interesting additional information.
@@hugobazin8052The AM 843 is still used a lot in SBB cargo. I am one of the people operating that route and we always feel sorry if we block your way
Остановки каждые сто метров. Прям мечта моей бабушки :)
Да, я знаю, что он останавливается везде! Наверное, это мечта пожилого человека :))

Очень аккуратное отношение к пешеходам, у нас пешеходов за людей не считают.

Schweizerischer geht nicht
Hahahaha! Pure schwiizerdütsch! Ich hatte nicht mal gemerkt, dass dies aufgenommen wurde :))
Nice!
Thanks!

I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that your hypothesis is correct!
Trams are very large - how often do they run?
Every half hour, every 20 minutes?
They are indeed! Nearly 45m long^^
Nope, each line normally runs in 7.5 minute intervals, so 8 times an hour in each direction ;)
@@hugobazin8052 1. How many people do they transport per day?
2. How many trams operate on the route?
3. Are they profitable?
