I just wanted to say thanks so much for all of this, I got into 3d printing last year with an ender 5 plus that my cousin was going to throw out. I asked for it after watching your video on how to motorize an iron man helmet. (Which then helped me make my first helmet) since then this hobby has been my go to for dealing with the stress of high school and has been a great way for me to make friends in my small town especially with my best friend moving last semester, I sincerely hope your sister gets better and I wish you the best.

Someone finally undestands why an Ender 3 is a great starter printer. I learned a lot of other machines such as CNCs and Laser cutters using the same components as an Ender. Its cheap and reliable!

@@danielhulan3058the thing about Enders is that people love putting upgrades on them. Even if it works fine. I have two P1S and a K1 max. If your are just doing normal 3d printing. Stl to slicer to printer it is an OK machine. But if you are using custom Gcode that can jam extruders stay away from the K1 max. They have the cheapest connectors in the hotend. The P1s has much better connectors. They spent like 10 cents per connector as the K1 uses a 1/4 cent connector. Make a big difference when taking them apart 5 to 10 times a day.

I've been into resin printing for about 4 years now. My first FDM printer was the Bambulab A1. Unfortunately my unit was one of those recalled. I opted to wait for the new heat bed and fix it myself. While I was waiting, I purchased the X1 Carbon with the AMS. I love this machine! Overkill? By all means. But it will cover all my printing needs with alot of headroom. The bright side of waiting to fix my A1 myself, a $120 voucher. Which I just used to pick up the currently on sale A1 mini for $79! I think my FDM needs are well taken care of lol! New to your channel, loving the content. My thoughts and prayers to your Sis.

Perfect review, for those who want to get into 3D printing. You sold me on the Creality K1 Max for my 1st 3D printer. So, I bought one. Sure, I could purchase a cheaper one. I did not want to do a lot of upgrades to cheaper printer in which it would cost me more in the long run. I love the Creality K1 Max. I made only one mod to it. I highly don't recommend the ender 3 for anyone who's just starting out. I absolutely regret buying my ender 3v2. I spend more time and filaments trying to fix/calibrate my ender 3 that I almost quit 3d printing. Maybe ender 3s are good for people that already know what their doing, or have all the time in the world. Maybe 60% of my prints are failures or unsatisfactory, plus it prints so so slow(just to end up with a clog). Somethig always go wrong, either theres a clogged nozzle, or 1st layer doesnt stick, or the filament snapped inside the hot end, or theres some heatcreep, or a partial clog, or it has under extrusion, or the bed isnt leveled anymore, or it clogged again, or it just deosnt feel like it wants to print today. Plus with all the upgrade/parts and nozzle replacements I bought, I might as well buy a brand new Bambu A1.
What I highly, highly recommend for starters is Bambu a1 mini, which I have. If you could operate a colored inject printer, you could operate a bambu a1 mini. I actually enjoy printing again. I've printed more stuff in that past 1.5 months I owned my A1 mini, than 2 years with my ender 3v2.

I started out with an Ender 5 a while back. Modded the crap out of it. Got tired of having to tweak it. I am at the stage where I have money and I don't have time. I love my 5 tool XL - but it's definitely expensive and I wouldn't recommend it for most users. What I DO love about it is - it just works. I don't care about speed. I want my prints to come off the plater easy. I want adhesion to just work. I love the speedy mult-tool switch. I printed and built an enclosure for it combined with a six spool PrintDry system - yep a lot of money. My prints simply rarely fail and I have it running pretty much 20+ hours a day. The ease of use has allowed me to really expand what I print - PETG 90% of the time and TPU. Now I'm moving on carbon fiber and other exotics. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

I think every person Ive seen say they like to print slow does so because they've had bad experiences printing faster. Once you get a reliable fast printer wheter that be a kit ratrig, or Bambulab or anything inbetween the speed becomes amazingly useful in how fast prototyping becomes.
Small parts you can finish in less than an hour and long parts move from multiple days to one day, all with no quality loss.

I’m very new to 3D printing and I went with the elegoo Neptune 4 plus as my very first printer now I have not yet tried anything with kipper but I simply took it out of the box put it together (took me about an hour to set up) printed my burst benchy in 19 minutes and I’ve printed a couple other things and so far I’ve had no problems with it it has a mode where it’s like variable speed or something like that and it prints from 150 mm/s to as high as 400 mm/s it’s not a constant speed it changed but it stayed in that range throughout the print so for the big build volume and the price (I got mine on amazon as a bundle with 1KG of black rapid PLA + for $360) the Neptune 4 plus is not a bad beginner at all

This really is a great video, I seriously wish I would have seen it last week when I ordered the X1c on sale.
I really like your overview of everything you talked about. I didn't even know Creality made something larger than the Ender 3 Max (that I constantly fight with, probably user error lol). Anyway, really enjoyed the info and you called out all the printers that I have been looking at for awhile, so great list!
I really hope your sister gets well, I'm so sorry you're all going through such a horrific event.

Completely agree with the Ender 3 being a great starter. I initially bought the Ender 3 and didn't get to use it until my 5plus was built. I had about 2-3 prints on the 3 and gave it to my son to use. He has been using it and it still gives great results bone stock for what he does. I moved on to a P1S combo, A1 Combo and 2 K1 Max machines for my main uses. I don't see myself getting rid of the Ender 5 plus, as it can still sit off to the side making character busts of a good size or a helmet while the faster machines take care of orders.

Awesome video I watched this video before making my first 3D printer about a month ago, I decided on a Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus the appeal of being able to print a full helmet was ideal for me, my brother who is of special needs attends comic con every time it rolls through Tucson, Az where we live I look forward to getting good enough to deck him out in a character to be able to wear to comic con next time they run one here. I have been watching your channel from the beginning of my 3D printing adventure, and I definitely enjoy your channel over the rest, you are very thorough and funny. You have an excellent grasp on this hobby. I appreciate your opinion and very innovative techniques, I enjoyed your videos on the Giga Orange, I have found myself very fond of the Elegoo line of printers, I just ordered my second printer the Neptune 3 pro, at a price I think was very fair of $159 out the door with shipping. I ordered it as a supplemental printer also possible enclose down the road So I myself am a very big Elegoo fan, I would enjoy an update on how the Giga Orange is running maybe a Bite size Danny Devito is in the works would be cool. I every once in while come up with a nifty idea to add to the table, so as I dive into this endeavor of 3D printing, I will share any discoveries I stumble upon and look forward to watching your future videos

The situation with your sister sounds so rough and I’m so sorry to hear. Thank you for this video, was super helpful, my first FDM has actually been the Anycubic Kobra 2 Neo (fine, fast, cheap) and weirdly, I think it’s shown me the value of going for a more turnkey/consumer-friendly model for my second? Almost like the inverse of the way you were putting it - I understand how to troubleshoot, I can put stuff together, I just don’t wanna! 😅 thanks again, Frank, crossing fingers and toes for your family 🖤

I had a dremel idea builder printer for about 2 years and I was looking to upgrade because I’ve had many problems with it. I was ready to spend way more than I needed to so this is a really helpful video to help put it into perspective. I’m still new to the hobby but I’ve got my niche in what I like to print (I make ball jointed dolls) so I need it to be more reliable than what I’m getting from my current printer. I will definitely be looking into your reviews to se what would suit me the best because every build plate you’ve shown is already bigger than mine lol

I picked up the Neptune 4 Max and it needed immediate firmware updating but after updating it's been flawless. I printed more than 4 helldivers helmets. Another small issue is that theres no percent button to enter in if your wifi password has a % symbol in it. If I had to do it over again I'd probably go with the Neptune 4 Plus and retain the 100*C bed heating vs the 85*C bed of the Max. You can do helmets just fine on the Plus's size.

Skip the ender 3, it was my first printer and it did what I wanted, but man the bambo p1s is so fast, high quality prints, praticaly no maintenance. The days of having to baby sit a ender 3 and leveling and the time spent wating to print are no longer necessary. Max on a good day I can get 2 prints with the ender, but with the p1s I can probably get up to 6 and being able to upscale and improve quality, muti color with the ams, the slicer is amazing beign able to cut props, color, custom text, variable layer height, not having to cut filament and just being able to print at all time, being able to watch you're prints from anywhere on the phone, getting notifications if something happened with the printer and telling you that its finshed. Saves so much time. All the time I wasted babysitting a ender, could be used for modeling, working on support placements, or more creative endeavors. The P1s is just unbeatable, this is the pinnacle of 3d printing.

I don't have any Bambulab products but I agree. Ender-3 is annoying. I learned a lot of things from it, but it's annoying. It's only 100bucks at the microcenter, but it's annoying. I would highly recommend the ender 3 if the newcomer is a poor college kid who has a lot of time, and just trying to touch this technology. Otherwise bambulab. No need to waste time.
My first printer was CR-10V3 but it was just a larger size ender3. My second was $100 ender3pro. I'm really looking forward to the release of the larger size bambulab printer. I need 300x300. I can't sell my CR-10V3 until then.

Yes with anything you should always do the thing that makes you learn. That’s how you grow. However some people lack the ability to learn things. So something as simple as the Bambu labs of anything they offer is a win. I have a x1 and will swear by it. The a1 mini is a crazy little machine. Anything in between can’t be bad either.
From a ender 3 to a 5 to a kywoo to a pursa I’m glad I’m on the x1. Makes my complicated life easier. Just load and print. My ONLY gripe is the build size limits but that’s what the cut features for. Lol

My first printer was the ender-3 V2 back in 2020 and I loved it. It wasn’t always easy but I would not have changed those experiences for the world as I learnt so much. Loved upgrading it and expanding my skills using it…plus the feeling when it created a successful print.
Then came along the Bambu P1P….and boy it changed everything.
Mate, you are so right . This is the best imho 3D printer period..not just because of its price . Yep, out of the box and away you go. The Bambu Handy app is amazing, especially with the built in Makerworld studio interface for just “click and print “ for thousands of choices of 3d models ( no slicing etc..) . Just chose and print from anywhere ( I did show off to friends whilst abroad in the USA with them and it successful printed …as we watched!)
It’s now enclosed and extras added as I love it so much. The next add on will be the AMS ..money permitting 😀)
My thoughts and prayers go to your sister, you and your family….i hope things get better soon.
    Thanks for all your content.

I got the Neptune 4 Pro not too long ago and I would have to agree with you. Every time I try to do super-fast printing at 500mm/s it fails. Not sure whether the filament isn't coming out quick enough or not adhering well enough but it just isn't working. If you want to go slower though, it performs much better at even around 250mm/s. It's a good printer but just not that good when fast. Kinda wish I had seen this video before I got it.

I had an Ender 3 Pro for almost 4 years. Got an X1C a few months ago. Yeah I agree it's kind overkill in some aspects, but I wanted to treat myself and get something really nice. I'd like to have a printer that prints large pieces but I'm strapped on physical space at the moment. So the X1C was a perfect buy for me. Also didn't bother with AMS because I sand/paint things myself.

I started with an Ender 3 s1 last year. I got it on sale at Micro Center for $150. While it took some tuning and setup, it’s been extremely reliable. If I get a good first layer, I get a good print. I looked into running klipper on it, and probably will some day, but I think my next printer will be a k1 max, or if they make a k1c max. I can’t give Bamboo my money. I have no interest in “cloud” (someone else’s computer) focused devices. Particularly given that it doesn’t add any value to the end user.

I have been watching a lot of 3d printing start uo videos for beginners like myself. But one thing i noticed is that it’s rare for someone to talk about the considerations of where you can setup in your home. Not everyone has a spare room or a basement, here in the UK, to isolate the printer. Some say there fumes to consider, air temp and humidity, etc.
