Honestly it feels like too many Genshin players never played a gacha before Genshin. They don't understand how bad they are treated
Definitively! I also play Nikke and man, I'm staying there cuz I love the treatment, that even makes me enjoy more the gameplay which it's not so rich

@@Doro-bashi I play Nikke too. I have played gacha games before Genshin. Fire emblem Heroes and FGO especially. It's funny to see how FGO feels more rewarding than Genshin. I play Nikke as well and it's anniversary felt like a true thank you to the players.

This situation proved both Techtone and Mtashed correct with their concerns and opinions in the past. Before many people were hating these two all because they were being brutally honest about genshin. Now people are on the same side including myself, Genshin already messed up but to see them not say anything about it and even going further to use bots as "damage control" really gave everyone a horrible taste. If Genshin doesn't change for the better, then they deserve to lose all of their credit and players, i don't care if they make good stories or whatever. If you aren't gonna listen to people's feedback and make changes for the better, then you pay the price of losing your fans and players.

we international players should all come together and voice out our opinions. A measly free 10-20 pulls is not enough anymore, we shouldn't sit back and accept shit that mihoyo is giving us. We're being treated like dirt. We should also keep voicing out our feedbacks cause once we stop, this issue will die down and be forgotten.
Or you could just stop playing. That gets the message across. If you're still asking for stuff, you don't have a position because the company still has you on the hook and they know it.
I really want to do something but I dont know what to do either. With alll criticism bad ratings tweets dislikes,, the best we can have is 10 extra pulls. which I doubt if we can get even. CN is all they care about. even though I type my honest opinions and criticisms everywhere in my free time , I dont hope for a change. my only hope is wuthering waves being so good that mihoyo feels threatened in market.
I think it’s already starting to die down. If you look at the CN community they have stopped the boycotting. Majority of the EN community are just over positive people who are ok with whatever genshin throws at them.

hopefully things will soon change with WuWa release. Players leaving genshin (including myself) to play WW and not coming back will put genshin under massive pressure.

Cai Haoyu is the main problem, he is the director for Genshin, which he was previously for honkai impact 3rd which the game is terrible and after he left and pass to David jiang the game significantly improved. And now genshin is suffering. It's all thanks to that guy.
This needs to be push out to everyone because a lot don't know this. I didn't know this til last week and was shocked by it. So I hope it's being pushed even more.

This process demands a significant amount of time and effort for players who are F2P or only invest in Welkin Moon or Battle Pass. Unfortunately, we, as F2P or low spenders, bear the brunt of this disrespect from hoyo.

i never liked turn based games so i was skeptical about hsr but my girlfriend made an account for me and asked me to try it out, and now its been over 2 weeks since ive logged into genshin. The crazy thing is i've never once gone more than 2 days without logging in and now after trying out hsr and watching the 2.0 livestream i almost dont wanna go back to genshin for anything other than story since ive already beaten abyss and all there left for me is to min max my artifacts on other characters that i dont give a shit about. and the 4.4 livestream for genshin makes me feel like ive been wasting my time hoping genshin could improve

Azur Lane has been treating their fanbase right for years and years. So many free rewards. Free skins. Hundreds and hundresds of free pulls every year if you put in the time as a f2p. And as a thank you it's the only gacha I actually give money too and have stuck around with for all these years.
I've always said F2P can be viable and fun, if the game is good F2Ps will be more likely to pay money. I almost exclusive F2P due to my finances, but if a game is good I'll drop some of my precious money on it, eg; Path of Exile got me to eventually buy most of the storage tabs, just because I felt the devs had earned it from me.
And the best part
I heard they even dared to spite Honkai Impact with bunny ship girls
f2p for the longest time on Azur Lane and finally went to spending for skins to give back to our beloved devs those skins are straight up FIRE
it was NJ's ass that made me buy my first skin out of my wallet and it didn't stop there

I've been playing Genshin for 3 years now, and I've been following you Teccy for 2 years. Thank you Tectone for keeping it real all this time and advocating for us players for better treatment! Your concerns to me has always been valid and Genshin Team has no excuse not to treat their players better.
I spent quite a lot, and by no means do I use this as entitlement to get more freebies... however, to have such below rock bottom care for their players both F2P and P2W, to only get less than 10 pulls on some of their most anticipated event is really more than a shame. Genshin Impact I pity you.

I lost all "trust" in this company since the Dehya incident. The community was outraged about her and left so much feedback in surveys and we got nothing. Not even a "hey we're sorry" absolutely nothing. And I hate to say this but that was the moment for me when I gave up. (and never give this company money ever again) The genshin team is so out of touch with their veteran playerbase it's unbelievable.
Plus people thinking giving constructive critism is "drama" or "being ungrateful" just shows how used they have become to being absused by this company.
You know what, I think we need hear some explanation from the higher management of Mihoyo/Hoyoverse itself. There are possiblity that higher management were kept in the dark about all this. I mean, they buying follower itself it quite strange to begin with, does they not think about players trust after their action OR they do that to hide something from certain someone? And Im pretty sure that some people can hide anything from higher management just by do not report them. It a huge company, it nearly impossible to know every single detail in each section of their games or teams, thats why report from below is important. Because No Report No Information.

The dev of each team has to made a report of their games in order to give the information to the higher management for the decision making. However, some detail can be left by simply do not include it into the report and may cause lack of information to higher management. This can due to some irresponsible people in the team. Like I said, It nearly impossible for huge company like Hoyoverse to simply know every single detail of each section or teams of their game without a proper report. Thats why report is Important. I have abandon the game for 1 year and a half, I knew it would all came down to this moment, but why now? why took 3 years? the 1st year thing got me so pissed that I didn't even bother to look forward to the 2nd anni, btw I play Epic7 for 5 fricking years and you know what? The rewards, they are too many sometimes, like for real yet the game still going good with world cup tournament stuffs and steady income while doing absolute minimum marketing for the game. Never watched Tectone as clips I'd seen of him in the past quite annoyed me, he seemed like a belligerent loudmouth, but he's grown on me with his brutal honesty. Respect man.
I just looked at the review ratings for Genshin on Playstore and it is utterly bizzare.
I'm pretty sure the last time i checked which was a few months ago it was at 3.6 stars (due to initial 1 year anniversary backlash) but now it's sitting at 4.2 stars and the 1 star reviews have drastically decreased in amount. Like, it's so much smaller then it used to be.

With respect to going after Genshin's sponsors, this is how traditional media works. When people get mad at what a show, news organization, sports organization, etc. does, they contact the sponsors and tell them. Not sure why this is suddenly unethical when applied over the internet, except it could come back to bite Tectone as someone who gets sponsored.
voicing concerns with a multi-billion dollar company should never be controversial. the worst thing comes to happen he (TUONTO) doesn't get genshin sponsorships I'm sure he'll find other companies since he is so popular and does so well with video on here

because usually that's done when a company does something really fucked up (terrible working condition, Sexual Harrassment complains, an important figure caught doing or saying something really innapropriate, etc...), this feels a little more petty and inconveniences other companies that couldn't give a flying fuck about some gacha game they partnered with like months/years ago to make some dough.

Will say it over and over, Genshin was developed as an experiment/side-game, they made three or four Honkai games before Genshin, and they made Star Rail after, and I guarantee that as much of the money made from Genshin as possible is going to the HI3 overhaul and upcoming HSR content. Honkai is their passion.
Still, it doesn't mean its acceptable for them to literally shit in players' mouths.
They could legit hire a whole new devteam that will treat it as a passion project, and it wouldn't even make a dent in their pocket.

Funny for me is fact that i log in to the game friday every week,.do events and then not login to the game for another week, my comitment to the game is pretty much dead, and is on life support, so I don't pay that much attention to what is going on.
And then videos like that drop and i am like, oh really, well looks like they have as much engagement with the genshin community as I had past week playing the game!

Well, unfortunately, even here CN community has privileges. because there was CN whale, who tried to get r5 Sworn of Freedom on the fors Kazuha banner and got like 4 r5 Skyward atlases instead (and one SoF). I think he made more impact into implementing the Fate system on the weapon banner.
I've only played for a year and a half or so. But my daughter plays as well so we have 2 accounts. I've paid for wishes and it's insanely expensive. As a common player, I would say in that time I've spent about 1500 dollars on the game because sometimes you just go hard for that character. I know others go even harder.
I think for lantern rite, fair would be....
All banners unlocked - pull on who you want
4 star of choice
Free skin choice ticket for 4 or 5 star
Minimum 40 free wishes.
This will at least get you roughly halfway to a pity.
Oh, and if you REALLY wanna get people to spend during that time Genshin, turn off 50/50's. Make the banners guaranteed.
They are coming out with new characters all the time, giving the player base a crack at getting the current ones they want isn't going to slow down their overall profits. They would generate MILLIONS during lantern rite for doing that. Next couple months may be slower than normal sure but it would be covered up by the insane high profile of the event.
But they wont.....
If you want to see what GOOD treatment of a gacha player is all about. I recommend Final Fantasy Brave Exvius....you get treated well there.

Hey Tectone, just something that came to my mind. Couldn't you and the other Genshin CCs come together and do a Talk together in a video about that issue to let them see that nearly all big genshin CC share that opinion and to voice the global communitys voice that are unhappy with that threathment. I know that the chances are low that we get heard but i believe that it might have an impact especially in making the quiet people realize how we have been threated by genshin hoyo. I really like Genshin but that isn't ok anymore.

I think it's more about advocating for better treatment for all gamers. It sucks that people who don't play a game wouldn't advocate for better treatment of players even if it's not their main game. It makes it hard for the other side to want and support them when they want support for their issues.

I don't get why it's looked at so negatively to criticize this game. I'm a video editor, when it comes to my work, if people told me everything I was doing was perfect all day, I would never improve. When my co workers give me feedback, it helps me see my mistakes and then put on a better product overall. Sure criticism doesn't always feel the best but it's necessary and overall it helps me as a worker.
Elden Ring is my favorite game of all time. Absolutely love it. The Godskin Duo fight sucks, there's no reason for that fight to be mandatory in the main campaign. If it was an optional fight it would be ok. Fire Giant is a fight that just isn't fun due to his size an arena. It's not fun to fight a foot for 20 minutes. Elden Ring could 100 percent improve the game and be better. But I still love it
community, it's like you either have to love everything about it or your toxic. That's not how life works. It doesn't matter if your happy, upset, pissed off, excited about the game. The game could be better and having that conversation in the community is good. The people who are having the conversations are doing so because they love the game. Some might view things differently, but it's coming from fans wanting a better product and I don't get why that's an issue.
That's how it is in a vacuum, but I think there are more social dynamics going on here.
It's the same thing as sports teams, or as the video game "console war." People take it personally because they've invested years of their time and/or money and don't want to be associated with a loser. And it doesn't help that a lot of the "Genshin could never" meme-discourse is petty and done solely for the sake of feeling superior to others- more of a self congratulatory dunk. A lot of the "criticism" for the game is actually veiled disdain towards the casual and/or younger player base that Hoyo responds to. Toxic positivity is manifested as the inverse to toxic negativity, in an escalating cycle of codependence.
A weak point is revealed, and it is drilled relentlessly with wanton glee for the sake of watching others squirm. This is what happens to ultra-popular things, to the hardcore audience that becomes disillusioned once said thing "sells out." They feel wronged, and want to make others feel that same betrayal. And spending too much time online blows the universality of their sentiments out of proportion, creating a series of false expectations. A parasocial frame develops, where the profit driven & data-based company catering towards millions of people all around the world becomes "stupid" for not doing this or that particular thing.
It's all very performative, and I have found that there is very little original thought in this space of clickbaiting content creators. An unwillingness to hold multiple viewpoints in one frame. A lot of scorned exes who feel that their desires, as opposed to the 10s of millions of other players in the room, should have been the ones reciprocated. Who want to get back at the one who "wronged" them. Who forget that Hoyo is an abstracted machine responding to data, not a friend. It's just business, nothing personal.
"If I'm unhappy, those other happy people are fake." So positive supporters can only be seen as "bootlicking copers," lest the negative campaigners get a glimpse of their own sour reflection.
Of course, this is just the frame I've personally developed after reading 1000s of comments under the videos & threads about this current manufactured drama. I am not at all implying Genshin is beyond critique, or that critics are wrong- just that there is an often unexamined projection & pettiness to it all. A superficiality and lack of context to the arguments that renders them hollow.

Overall I think not just games but life in general, people forget to try and understand the other point of view. We see this in politics all the time where it's my way or the high way.
Every game has positives and negatives. It will very from person the person if the positives or negatives affect them more. For my Elden Ring example, those negatives I mentioned are nothing compared to the positives for me personally so it doesn't bother me. Someone else on the other hand, those negatives could outweigh the positives making them feel like the game is bad which is also fair. Just because the negatives don't ruin the experience for me personally, doesn't mean they aren't there. Same can be true for genshin. The whole picking a side is so stupid imo. It's ok to be happy with the game and it's ok to be pissed off. But regardless of where anyone stands, Genshin could improve

And I use to take genshin too seriously online. It was 100 percent due to my mental health not being the best and me having to tackle that.
I think a major underlying issue with this community is most of the people online or at least a lot of them are having some sort of mental health issue that's not being addressed. So they're baking Genshin into their personality making any opinion that different from theirs personal to them instead of just a different opinion.
Personally I'm on the side of Tectone and Mtashed more than I am a Turanto or dish. I think the game has a lot of flaws. But I still have fun building the characters and fucking around with the characters although I really wished there was more end game. I've managed to make.my own end game in that every abyss cycle I try to clear it with as many different combos of teams I can. So coming up with new combos is my personal end game. But I do quit every 6 months as I get burned out after a few patches every year.
But you know what, if someone else plays every day and like to do that teapot and pick flowers and their enjoying that then all the power to them. I wish that was fun for me lol. My only issue with the conversations about the state of genshin, is how does adding endgame affect players who don't play for combat? Like I'm not saying don't do teapot stuff or Tcg or whatever. But I don't see why adding something that let's say 20 to 30 percent of the players would enjoy is an issue? The rewards argument is simple in you give rewards that casuals wouldn't care about like artifact enhancers, Billetts etc.
Outside of that one argument I can pretty much understand most of people opinions on this game even if I personally disagree with some
@Bdog4114 Playing gacha games certainly doesn't help mental health overall. That's a good idea about adding niche player rewards to niche content.
When I've tried to think from Hoyo's perspective, I can think of a few reasons why they skip endgame. The current observation is that they want an easy off ramp for hardcore Genshin players to convert to Star Rail and start their spending journey again. And it already seems like Star Rail has a more aggressive character release and power creep schedule.
The lack of challenging content in Genshin means a lot of characters can stay viable in all content, giving more team comp freedom. It discourages pure meta pulling and allows dated character re-runs to work without redesigns or appends.
As Genshin holds a large casual audience, that audience might still attempt harder content at least once and create a lasting negative impression. Online discourse might shift in favor of skill based creators or pay to win mentalities, and even more extreme attitudes of elitism might develop in the community. Casuals might get talked down to even more.
Basically, Genshin is supposed to be chill from top to bottom, and now they have Star Rail to cater towards more hardcore audiences. Genshin is supposed to be universal, friendly, and escalating endgame mentality is in direct opposition to that. And they have access to the behavioral data of 10s of millions of players, so I would think their decision is rooted in some kind of financial consideration.
I think both Mtashed and Dish are solid, I like Tectone overall, but I am less enthusiastic about him playing up his messiah complex on this issue, and I think it's generally a bit of a red flag when someone surrounds themselves with drama and gets genuine joy out of being hated. I don't think that type of energy is particularly healthy to nuanced discourse, but I can see the context for it.
Gacha business practices are inherently toxic, exploiting social FOMO and desire, draining time and money, so it makes sense certain negative traits might trigger as people come to terms with the reality of it. And online, it's not always clear who is who in terms of background, age, and intention. So there is friction.

11:59 they're going after other companys because it worked in the past before. The community during the first anniversary targeted companies that having nothing to do with the game and it actually forced Mihoyo to do something. Now it didn't do much but it got a response/reaction so now thats the only way people know how to forced the company to pay attention to them.

When he was asked Predicting the Ani rewards for HSR, he said there's no way they would give free 5 star even if its standard and that's too much to ask.
Now that Chinese players are aware of Tectone doing that kind of content and supporting their move of unfollowing Genshin and sponsors it should be clear they gotta be vocal together with global. CN did well but global still has a way to go. I did my part and rated on all my accounts 1 star for them as they deserve for current state of game.

When I first heard tectone said about Genshin 2years back nearly about not being generous to players about rewards and content , I thought it’s ok it’s their game . Recent 2 years I played Honkai impact 3rd, HSR. Then I felt dude , what’s wrong with genshin impact . Literally these 2 games rewards and end game is best we can have . Now I am playing genshin 860+ days . This game need to update rewards and end game . Literally very slow . They didn’t gave sh*t to their people recommendations
This is why I follow tectone compared to these creators because they are kind of scared to talk about an issue I have never seen such a person like tectone that actually speaks and don’t care if anyone tells him to shut up

The two problems I foresee are that there isn't a productive avenue for pushback outside of unfollowing and review bombing, that and we don't have a great read on just how many of Genshin's players are newbies. The latter i suspect is telling that they really have decided to only focus on them and casual players who only sign in for story updates, leaving a massive group of people completely underserviced. I would've thought that the whales were more likely committed, long term players, but that might actually be untrue - the general perception was certainly such, but it's also the fact that it wouldn't even take much to improve their experience considerably. Also a 10 pull and a free standard 5 star would probably arrest the lion share of the boycotting, frankly as much as it is still just a pittance it's just the extent of the stinginess that's so offensive, like it's not just double the rewards in HSR, it's around 10 times the amount as in the time genshin has given 25 wishes, HSR has given 125 plus a lim. 5 star, which is essentially 100 wishes so about 225 wishes - almost 10 times the amount - and their giving another 20 pull and a 4 star selector next patch!
I actually didn't care at first. Until I get to this video. Tectone made a very valid point. This is my first gacha game and I am quite a spender myself. I didn't realize at first how unfair the rewards given are.
The og have played the game for 1000+ days and they’re telling us our supports so far are worth 3 pulls? That statement alone made me mad, I’m happy the CN took massive actions but the update is just in 3 days and there’s still no news regarding the rewards adjustment.
I'm just reminded of Outerplane and their half anniversary "celebration".... where they stripped mileage off of summon tickets, halved a lot of one-time and recurring currency rewards, released no new content, and *actively* ignored the players and even locked down their official discord with phone verification.....
