  • Joe reviews a more classic and budget-friendly Leatherman multitool: the Rebar. The only things this tool is missing are a clip and a pair of tiny scissors. What do you think of this affordable multi tool as an EDC?

I acquired an old rebar from work, they were cleaning out a tooltrunk and they were going to get rid of it. I LOVE the Rebar. For many of my work pants I can actually fit it in my coin pocket. The only thing it misses is the scissors, but my wife got me a Free K4 that I use the scissors on every day for work. I have a few other multi tools (like some Gerber trash and more super budget options) and the Rebar is just so comfortable and reliable. LOVE LOVE LOVE the tool!

3:55 accually the burr mean it is not use at all! This is factory pristine condition. The burr will fell off after first use.

Hardwood like a black locust will remove that burr quick.

Just got my first Leatherman tool and I got the Rebar! Absolutely love it! Got it primarily for fishing/hiking, but it’s a daily carry now 😂

I have always liked the Rebar, owned it very briefly a while ago. I really wish Leatherman would put holes in the handle on this MT, or offer a service where you could send your existing MT and have pocket clip holes drilled. I think it would add more versatility to carrying this tool. I guess you could put a Nite-Ize S-Biner on the lanyard loop and clip it to the top of the pocket (I do that already w/my EDC Victorinox Outrider). Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see your final outcome on the blade regrind.

Nite Ize also offers an adhesive pocket clip. You’ll need to make it tighter with pliers. After you do that, it’s fine.

I also broke the tip of the knife on mine! lol Not super hard use and rusts easily, but great investment. PS: I hide some SAK tweezers behind the saw. makes it perfect for outdoors!

Hey Joe great videos! I'm in the market for a multitool. I'm trying to decide between the Rebar and the Spirit X. Any thoughts?

Between those two I prefer the Spirit X. I prefer the outside accesible tools and more comfortable handle.

Nice initial impressions. I would like a knifeless rebar for work, but it's expensive! I look forward to your full review.

Hey Anne. FYI you can get Leatherman tools at a discount if you're a 1st responder, military, teacher, student or medical professional. If any of those apply to you or friend/family member, you can get it at 30% off! :D

The scissors on the otherwise awesome knifeless Rebar are quite underwhelming….just saying.

The Rebar comes with the same style head and the Signal. Love and carry them both. Rebar is the carry of choice of all my Leathermans for the most part but I carry them all switching from time to time.

I have a Knifeless Rebar and I love it for work, in a sheath, but outside of work, I wish it had a pocket clip. Right now I have a SOG Powerpint, but I am thinking about getting a Leatherman Bond for outside of work. I am seriously hoping they will update the Rebar and add a pocket clip. I love the bit adapter you can use with it. Because I sometimes work on hospitals and other Knife regulation buildings, I can't have anything more than a small Victorinox and a utility knife. I think the Powerpint and the Bond/Rebar are perfect pocket sizes, but without a pocket clip, it could fall out on my motorcycle and I am tired of sheaths, outside of work. Currently my Knifeless Rebar wire cutters are broke. They are the same cutters as the Arc and they broke cutting a 10 guage solid core wire. I have to carry side cutters in my pocket, until Leatherman gets this figured out. 😞
