      Wish I had found this video prior to application.
      I got very streaky results initially and took a lot of elbow grease to get back to a good finish.
      I hoping it will become easier on another application.
      Overall iam very pleased with the result.
      I am intrigued by the instructions you read from your bottle. Mine just said, causes irritation.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому +6

      @@springcopsespaniels2189 below where it causes irritation. It says please read instructions inside or something. The label on the back is actually a book that opens up for all the foreign languages. It actually occrered to me that meguiars needed to say in big letters open the booklet to read instructions. Because those "open" up book labels are not immedietly obvious. Im noticing about say (roughly) 1 in 10 is getting streaking. Its easy to just blaim it on the user, but I think meguiars could help themselves a bit more by making the instructions clearer. they may well disagree but net result is a lot of people having streaking issues.

      My car was slicker before applying the product, but it may be because I did it after polishing with 3D Speed. The Montan wax in 3D Speed is super slick.

    Great review as always. Really enjoying your reviews and have helped me no end. I’ve just ordered some ceramic wax as it looks good as a ‘half way house’ between normal wax/sealant and full on ceramic. I’m guessing this will go over sealant ok to give that bit more protection? Keep up the good work 👍

    I just used this product yesterday and I am very pleased so far. I did foam and clay the car first, rinse and with the initial application spray and wipe down the product before drying. This was a 4 year old car and the paint feels better that a new car, but of course new car dealerships do a terrible job detailing. So far so good, in a week I will be applying the second maintanace coat and I hope to even more improvement, but if things go south I will let you know.

    Great video! I sprayed it directly into a wet applicator and applied it like a wax for the initial application. This product works regardless of what other people say. It has been on for 1 month today and it is still holding up well. I used barely any product when applying it to a wet applicator. Not as good as right after application but it hanging in there quite well. Car does not get nearly as dirty now. I also used it on the glass and it works great while driving in the rain. Nice video!

    I have to say after using it over 4-5 times it works absolutely great if used right, used it to give waterproofing and it delivers exactly that, last 4 months ish if not washed regularly but with top up sprays it gives the nice water beading, I definitely recommend this for anyone who wants more waterproofing on their waxed paint by spray and rinse and for the normal person that wants it to be easy to wash their car and maintain as its fairly cheap

    On my cars in Europe I tried ServFaces hybrid spay wax & fast shine 3-in-1 and Dr Koch hartwachs after claying the cars (one year in storage with no real cleaning) and Dr koch is easier to manage but with both same slick feeling indoors. Not tested anything outside after a drive or wash.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому +9

      fair play jason, just to plant a seed but consider you have months of hydrophobic repellency , does that equal protection? whats the essential difference between a hydrophobic silicone polymer or whatever it is in BSD. Versus what the surface characteristics of a silica material. When you go to wash your car with BSD when its really dirty. Spray water over it and look at the hydrophobic performance? Is it evident, does it need detergents and contact washing to clear the surface? When you have an SIO2 material what happens when its equally as dirty and you just rinse it with water? Can you see evidence on self cleaning properties of SI02? These are the things worth exploring as consumers. In simple lamens terms you could say it doesnt matter or make any difference what we use, but its the subtle difference on things we cant see. maybe put a paste wax on one half the car and SI02 product on the other (after full prep) 6-12 months later use a fallout remover to see if the wax side lights up more than the SI02 side.. little things like this we can do to form opinions on some of these product claims.

    Jon, Used it for the first time today on the Mrs Black A Class. I have to say that the first time application took a while to buff. After application I buffed with microfiber cloth and it took a while to buff out. So after completing the whole car, I went back over again with a sort of second buff if you like. After the second buff it came out sweet and by the time the sun was out it had a fantastic pop to it. Very impressed with the end result though. I reckon the hard work with the first application will help with the spray on rince off method thereafter??

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      a lot of these material are gonna bury themselves in the microfiber towels. I can see like the effect. Just the materials in these SI02 products (not the full ceramic), if there get covered in this stuff and sit on the shelf for a few days before you wash. Im almost certain even washing wont get it all out. Possibly the same with other materials.
      Its an interesting one but I cant really examine it more than I have already. but theres an arguement you need good quality microfiber perhaps which is well priced. but towels take a hammering generally anyway dont they.

    After using Meguiar’s CMX spray wax for the past two months I’m very pleased with the results. The appearance of the paint after applying CMX is great. It seems to add richness to dark colors and when it’s fully cured it imparts a nice warm glow to the paint. In areas like Nevada where it’s hot, dry and dusty in the summer Meg’s CMX keeps my car cleaner than Beadmaker. I have started using CMX on another car with Collinite 845 as the base coat and these two products make an awesome combination. Last but not least is that CMX makes a super drying aid when diluted 1:1 with distilled water.

Its not the product its really the combination of combining protective materials to a surfactant and trying to utilize them during the wash process. Its not the for me. the shampoo also isnt as effective and nice to use as their gyeon bath essence. my recomendation is use a pure shampoo to clean the car and do your protectional stuff afterwards.

    By any chance do you know if using any kind of wax coating it is resistant in hot climates? Recently I met a manufacturer and we were talking about which coating might be best for hot climates vs. Europe and he mentioned that wax would evaporate and that ceramic coatings would be the best choice to withstand such harsh conditions.
    Thought maybe because of all the testing and knowledge you have gained you might be able to advise.
    Much appreciated.
    Take care

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      hey frank. Wax does not evaporate, its a solid. problem perhaps with paste waxes if they have natural melting points that are low. between 60 -75 deg typically for more organic waxes. So in very hot climates a wax can soften on the panel in the heat, the heat is disolving it or making it closer to a liquid, then when you hit it with detergents as its softer and weaker it will get broken down even more. So this is paste waxes.
      So yer you should try like other products perhaps. You could try FK1000p hih temp paste wax. You could try these SIO2 products like in this video (just make sure cars are cool when applied). you could try syntehtic sealants generally. normal PAste wax isnt great for really hot climates typically.

    A useful tip for this product is after you have your foundation layer, mix some 1:1 with water and use it as a drying aid. I've noticed if I rinse it off or use it as a drying aid full strength, I notice streaking that's hard to buff out and I use a lot of the product. It makes it so much easier to use while using less of it and it still beads as strong.

      have a read down some of the comments. its a good question but ive answered it a couple of times.
      The main difference. megs, silica+siloxane. autoglym is more siloxane. Autoglym product gives more value but a long long way. But megs is laying down SI02 materials, they are more resinous, thicker and these materials seem to cure off and give a smoother feel.

    If anyone suffers with streaking, particularly in the warmer weather, after applying it (and just before buffing), spray a decent glass cleaner over where you've applied and then Buff off. It comes off instantly in one wipe - learned this only recently and made a hot day of detailing made easy. Couldn't believe how well it came off with the glass cleaner as a "buff" aid.

      @@ForensicDetailing Hi Jon. So, its been a while as I have been using the product for a few car washes on a couple of cars. My impression is that is simply doesn't last. I know you (and other) seem to get good durability but I have tried so many application methods including on freshly clayed panels, as per instructions, applied dry, applied with a wet applicator etc etc and after about 4 weeks or so of being kept outside, there is not much evidence the product is doing much and only when reapplying does it come back to life. I raised this with Maguairs and they didn't say much other than using pH neutral products when washing the car. I use BIlt Hambers autofoam and wondered if you think this should have an impact. Any other thoughts? The Bilt Hamber double speed was is still going strong after 6 months! Phew, sorry for the essay!

      BSD is better and a lot cheaper too. I've been using for months now once a week as a drying aid. If the car is well maintained and has a layer of protection (Fusso coat in my case) I find it hard to think of any better product to add extra shine and water repellency. I drive around 800 miles/week and I get to power wash the car with water only and use BSD to remove any dirt while drying the car with a damp MF.

      I have BSD on 1 vehicle and a product similar to this (303 touchless sealant) in a head-to-head comparison. As much as I love BSD, the 303 is far superior in durability and gloss and slickness/self cleaning properties. I've had to reapply BSD to bring it back up to the level the 303 is still at on the other vehicle. Try it. You'll see. The 303 is very close to the Megs so I am assuming the same will be true using Megs or 303

    Just a up date on my using Meguiars Ceramic Hybird wax. Washed my Taurus on 5- 30-19. With Turtle wax Extreme wash by hand. After rinsing car off. Sprayed the Ceramic Hybird wax on a $ 1.97 micro fiber sponge. Applied up and down and back and forth motion. On all panels and windows. Rinsed car with large amounts of water. The more water more the bead. Wiped car with shammy till dry.It's been over two weeks and its rained heavy almost every day from the 30th until now. The car looks shiney still with mass beading going on. It rained Sunday morning. While the car was still wet . I applied another coat of Ceramic Hybird wax. Even though it didn't need it. Wiped the car dry. This stuff lives a great shine and has held up really well. Also did my 2004 Concorde on 5-30-19. Did not redo ceramic high wax on it. Both cars sit out all the time. I put the wax on the Concorde chrome rims when I waxed it the rims still look like I just did the wax job. Meguiars Ceramic Hybird wax is holding up under extreme conditions here in Indiana. Its worth the $13.00. I noticed at Wal-Mart. They are stocking it more and more. Now just have to find a tire dressing that lasts and lasts. Any ideas out there? SHAWN

    First, thanks for your review of the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax, I picked up a bottle the other day, and easily applied the initial coat. I lightly moistened a microfiber applicator pad, sprayed directly on the pad & applied it like a liquid wax. Directly buffed it dry & it came out great, no streaking. I'm not much for the process of spray on rinse off , I feel this is far to wasteful of a good product. So far the protection seems very improved over regular spray waxes, we'll have to see. I really liked their product, look forward to adding additional coats soon. As far as price, I feel it's a good bang for the buck. 2 Thumbs up.
