    I find that the combination of Meguiars Fast Finish as a Base Coat and Then adding the Meguiars Habrid Ceramic Wax Adds higher levels of Gloss (to the human eye) and the paint feels slicker after application and during application I do use your method to apply the Habrid Ceramic Wax, Great Video as always!

    Just wanna say we appreciate the hardwork Jon.
    I haven't used any of the ones tested but I used Gyeon wet coat 1litre (£21.49 shipped which I thought compared well for price to the competition) for the first time this week on a late evening on an overcast day and it worked perfectly. Longevity I think is an important aspect for these products because they aren't cheap, especially if like me you're used to squeezing that trigger and seeing a lot of product on the panel.

    Jon, You might be interested about how I use Cure. I add 2oz into a 22oz bottle of detail spray. The ratio is 20oz water, 2oz Cure and 1oz of Wolfgang Urber Rinse-less wash. After I wash my ceramic coated cars, I use this cocktail as a drying aid. The gloss is quite noticeable, very slick and I feel like like I am putting down a small amount of protection every time I wash. I have not figured out the exact cost of a 23oz bottle of my mixture, but it is very inexpensive to make and works incredibly well. Great video. You put A LOT of time into it and I appreciate it. I think when I run out of Cure, I will try the TAC Systems product, since my base layer is Moonlight.

I spray it on and wiped it off with a drying towel as meguiars recommended, then rinsed the car, sprayed it on and rinsed it off again (2nd application) and I was very disappointed with the streaks it left. I'm so glad I watched your video. I will be applying it again as per your recommendation. Thanks!

    Excellent review. Thanks for your hard work. I have Reload and used it a lot. I agree that it is a lovely product to use and look at but it really doesn't last. I use it on my wife's car and it can't do 2 months whether or not the car is washed in that time. I'll carry on as I like it and paid for it but, the second it runs out, I'll get the Meguiars product - that longevity is crazy and makes it worth spending a bit more time applying.

    Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Spray work great! I like to spray on a wet vehicle a section at a time, use an applicator to spread, and then dry with microfiber. It also works great on plastic trim, rims, and exterior glass. I have a tile shower and use Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic spray and the water and soap just rolls off the walls for months.

      Forensic Detailing Channel , absolutely. Quick question: do “quick detail” products like Maguiars Quick detailer, diminish the hydrophobic properties of the ceramic wax?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 роки тому

      @@cedjazz its hard to answer.. your adding more material ontop of other material so you would think the "top" most material is whats going to be on display hydrophobicity speaking. Materials which truely would dimishing the base line would be solvents or detergents. more often other products "mask"... but it important to use compatible products generally. theres also tons of different formats of quick detailers all different chemically so its hard to generalise.

    Just picked up some Meg Hybrid Ceramic Wax the other day from the well know highstreet car/bicycle shop here in the UK. So far I am impressed with it as per many reviews. Still have to see on durability but so far so good. Heard about the difficulty in application from reviews causing streaking when spraying on so went with a recommended method of using damp micro-fibre applicator pad and wiping on when the car was still wet just prior to a towel dry. It should make the product go even further as you're not over applying and buffing off so much unbonded excess.
    My other car is ceramic coated and I've just started using EZ Car Cares Hydra Soap shampoo which is SiO2 infused. Thought it might be good to 'reload' the ceramic coat during the hand washing phase rather than the drying phase like the sprays used during the test. Would love it if you could test it and give a 'forensic' report on its performance.

  • @GetOutsideYourself
    @GetOutsideYourself 5 років тому

    First of all, THANK YOU for taking so much time to put all of that thought and effort into putting this together... the community certainly appreciates it! I thought you did a great job across the board in educating, explaining and entertaining :)
    One thing I think might help you enjoy the Hybrid Ceramic Wax a bit more would be to use less product even yet based on the short clip where you applied it to the door and front panel. Your tip about spraying from further back and really trying to rinse it off was spot-on. I think with experience and less product you will find that using less product should all but entirely eliminate the risk of streaks or difficult wipe-off.
    Also, a slightly damp drying towel seems to make the removal and leveling easier as well. Hope that helps you enjoy it just a bit more. Looking forward to enjoying more of your content into the future. -Markus, Meguiar's Professional Product Manager

      thx mark I certainly hurled it on in places. got a silica iceberg on the rear door :) one really important bit of feedback to meguiars if this is any use. Id say about 1 in 10 (finger in the wind) guys are messing up the install. in the UK you have european label on the back that opens up and reads like a book. With the instructions tucked away in that book. I think some guys dont realise its a book and simply read the instructions as spray and rinse from the front of the label. On the back of the bottle the part where it says read the instructions is kind of hidden on the end of the health warning paragraph. because the product is going out to so many people I would put the letters "Important read the instructions in the fold out booklet" away from the rest of the health warning text, in bigger letters nearer the little arrow. sounds really obvious I know but I just think that will help megs lower the about that just pick it up and spray on and mess up the install.
      product is holding up well in real life, the comments on these videos are always a good raw indicator of peoples thoughts. Most guys seem to be liking it. great stuff thanks for taking the time to watch.

Use about 3/4 of a bottle and used a microfibre to evenly spread its initial application then jet wash to get the van wet then it’s last application with a blast off and dry. Hard work but definitely happy with results, time will tell on its longevity.
    Great channel and really helpful content.

    Love the comparison. Using the water based detergent was great as opposed to those harsh stuff used in other videos. Although I'm not familiar with the brands other than Megs. Was surprised Megs did well in durability and sickness though. Doesn't usually do well in these areas in other comparisons. Nonetheless I'm a big fan. Happy that Megs the winner.

    Great Vid John with fantastic tests :-). I’m gonna give the Hybrid Ceramic Wax a go on the wife’s new car cause she never cleans it. I love reload but totally agree its endurance is poor so I use it as a drying aid after wash to continually top it up but I also miss doing my full powerlock/double speed wax combo which works absolutely amazingly, and topped off with Done N Dusted, try it out the results are awesome.

    Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. In your expert opinion, how do you think these Si02 protectants compare to paint sealants. More specifically, I'd like to know how Hybrid Ceramic Wax compares to Megs Ultimate Fast Finish. What are the strengths and weaknesses of either. UFF claims to be Meguiars most advanced sealant. Does the new Si02 HCW take the crown off it, or is it just jumping on the Si02 bandwagon ?

    • @ForensicDetailing

      Every meguiars product claims a lot. Problem is they have so many products they have to keep usurping their own previous claims. FF is a siloxane whacked into a rattle can delivery system. The product can only ever be as good as the siloxane. Generally the type of siloxane used has the ability to rapidly bond without removal of thicker excess carrier or excess product, just needs to be spread to cover and smaller amounts of excess removed before it vapes. The biggest problem with the rattle cans is you will blast through them very rapidly, you get less product. Siloxanes dont generally harden on their own, but once they are bonded on the panel they have good chemical resistence. So they are different to other proper curing bases sytems, or even heavier disolved resins. They wont look as warm or deep as applying a thicker wax for example. They can last out well on a panel. 6 months might be reasonable. dont know its hard to generalise. but Im not overly fond of rattle can products. what you will ultimately discover is no matter how many products you explore. your car will need cleaning once every couple of weeks and after cleaning it you will want to put something on it to give it the fresh dressed look. Once a year its going to need a decon typically. theres a lot of ways to skin a rat in terms of how you look after your car. best thing you can do is, enjoy cleaning it and enjoy trying stuff. best combo Ive found that offers value and performance. Base of moonlight, and then top it with wet coat (used a bit more like a spray spread and level). this kind of works for me. cheap, easy, uses the latest gen materials etc. could replace moonlike with like cancoat. can replace wet coat with a mirky white SI02 spray like megs, or reload etc. Could use beadmaker on top.
      Is HCW jumping on the SI02 bandwagon? absolutely but every fucking man his dog are jumping on it as well. Gotta be in it to win it. I dont blaim the companies for wanting to jump on the bandwagon, but the problem is theres prolly around 500 si02 sprays on the market now because 99% of brands are white labelling or ultimately selling someone elses formulation as a middle man. So the challenge for any company is to make something unique that offers performance and value. I think megs have done a decent job with the product. This stuff kills their own pastes waxes with its durability..

      @@ForensicDetailing Cheers mate for the detailed reply. As a detailing fan, i'll tell you, you're channel is the most informative and cuts through any of the bullshit ! Congrats on having the best detailing channel out there by far !!!!!!! Going back to my question, you answered exactly what i wanted to know. Truth be told, i don't think i've ever gone longer than a single week than cleaning my car. So longevity of a product is never an issue for me. For me i just enjoy being in the garage cleaning my cars, listening to music and keeping busy. Cars get a full paint correction, clay etc out of the dealership, then from there, i just do my regular maintenance. By that i mean over the top maintenance. (I'm sure you can relate to this lol) In the last month alone, its had Paint Protect 365 (just cos i have a bottle and it was feeling lonely and only ever used once before after the last few yrs of ownership) Then some HCW cos i finally managed to find some locally. Though after cleaning the car, i saturated an MF pad, then saturated the panel using distilled water in a spray bottle. Spritzed a couple of squirts of HCW directly onto the MF pad, and wiped all panel, one panel at a time, which resulted in a milky liquid. Then using two MF's one to wipe up most of the moisture and the other to buff dry. I don't know if its just me, but i felt my cars looked better than ever. Then a week later, again after its weekly clean, i hit it with some P&S BeadMaker.. Then after seeing maybe one of your vids i thought hmmm lets try out UFF. My cars are both Black VWs and i live in the tropics of SW Florida. So regardless of how often i clean, the following weekend they'll both need a clean again, if i want them looking at their best. Even if i've avoided rain or an irrigated road ! The slickness is so addictive ! Not sure if you'll ever need it in Blighty, but i also like to use Finish Kare's 1000p Hi Temp Paste Wax. But these days, with easier to use applications, i'm starting to gravitate more towards these spray on and wipe off products such as beadmaker and HCW. Keep up the good work !

      it can go on top of a ceramic, but I dont know how good it is to do so. I would prolly use a topper from carpro or gyeon to maintain their coating.

    Fantastic video, as a noob to car detailing this was really helpful. Is it worth paying for a ceramic coating to be applied over products like these can I ask?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому +1

      a proper ceramic will be laying down materials which are harder and more durable and in my opinion have better self cleaning properties. the best thing about getting a coating package, is a detailer will sort out the paintwork first with machine polishing and then lock in that work with the best form of chemical protection we have available. The bad side is that will cost a lot of money and the real benefits of all that endevour are considered minimal to some people. coatings are cool, but have a watch of the the video I did called "ceramic coatings hype or hot" which delves into possible considerations. theres no right or wrong, just expectations versus how big the benefits really are to each individual.

    So could you polish your car, and then apply the ceramic wax after a quick rinse? Or is there no need for polish? Great test btw.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому +1

      you can polish your car then degrease and then apply this year. So it will benefit from full prep (wash decon polish degrease) like any sealant. You can also just buy it. Wash your car and apply it to a clean car. You obviously wont get the same level of results, or durability... but yer can be used casually so to speak.

    John i think your vids are awesome. Always seem to go into great detail about products. Just love to watch your work. I wonder if you would take a request I have recently spotted a new product Opti Coat Pro. Seems to be the best you can get for a ceramic coat. So I would love for you to get some of that product and perhaps some others that are similar and test them out. The Opti Coat Pro is guaranteed for 7years!!!
    So if you could let me know what you think, I am sure you already know about this product but think it would awesome for you to test it! 😁

    The way the Meguiars is applied probably gives such a heavy coat is why it lasts slightly better. I'd probably go with the remax.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 років тому

      Thing is though. they were all applied the same way. one spritz onto an applicator, spread over that section buff back. I dont think it was the thickness of the meguiars product that meant it lasted out well I think its the actual materials themself. maybe hard to say though.
