it's one ofher best songs musically and lyrically, it's self-critical but because of someone else; the music just shows the desperation in the lyrics too. the rim taps on the snare is like a clock or an irregular heartbeat from her lyric "tell it "quiet down you're being loud"

I soon came to realize that the reason why I didn't like it was because I was expecting a version of Halsey that I already knew. I wasn't prepared to embrace her growth and enjoy her evolution. Please re-listen the album but this time do it without any expectations. Just listen and enjoy what Halsey has to say

The growth is clearly visible. Learning to lose someone when the foundation is lost is hard to learn which often causes people choose a lie than the truth that the journey has come to an end. And as you go deeper into the album, you can see how that journey of pain ends and how she started her journey to happiness

Trent and Atticus really hit the nail in the head with the production of this record. I've never was a fan of halsey before this record, I listened cause I'm a big fan of nin. But this girl definetly is suited for the sound of NiN. And this combination was golden.

I love watching the live versions because there is more rasp in the louder/higher notes. It makes me think of emotions ripping through the sound painting. It just sounds so cool. I also really love how they enunciate in all their songs; all the words are really defined so she always sounds sure of herself. But definitely my favorite part of most of their songs is the last run of the chorus where it’s an octave up because there’s more power in it and she can finally let loose all the rage / regret / stress / other large feelings defined in the lyrics. Other than that, I think the imperfections make certain parts of her songs the best, like when her voice cracks in the second run of the chorus of Control and the rough edges of the word “believe” in Sorry because it not only gives emotion - it gives human emotion and allows the audience to really connect with that.
