Your sharing of resources proves you are a class act yourself. Thanks for the information. Can hardly wait until you are on the road again. Oh, my favorites of yours? Probably when you covered features around St. Louis, but I had a personal interest having lived there for almost 15 years. Also, my mother's family was from there. I probably could have given you some good leads. Oh well, plenty of other great places to go. How about an extended feature tour of my native Texas? Most people do not realize the vaiety of culture and history involved. It truly is a country to itself. Ok, I'll be listening fo next time. Happy travels.

We take several road trips a year that involve 8-900 mile days. My wife doesn't appreciate my taste in music, so much of the time the radio stays off while she listens to her "books on tape" through headphones. I never got into that, but maybe these are something I can give a try. Thanks for the recommendations.

I first thought this was going to be about your highest rated podcasts in terms of the number of viewers. I love history podcasts also and your channel is great because you actually visit the places you're talking about, not an easy task by any means. While I love history, I'm too busy making my own, so time is important and short podcast is what I usually watch. My favorite, next to yours of course, is the History Guy. He's does a great job in a short amount of time on some of the events I care about including one I actually experienced in person. And does it in about 15 minutes. Maybe you could post links to podcast your talking about in the show more section. Keep up the good work!

A buffoon would be the last thing I would call you. I feel we are all pupils, and by craving knowledge it only makes us a better teacher, parent, and person. While there are always those who know more, you need someone who is willing to learn. It would be a sad world without those who are willing to learn and teach, we would all be buffoons. Have a great one.

If you like both history and comedy a good podcast to listen to is The Dollop with Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds. It's very very funny and they delve into all kinds of weird American history with really obscure characters- some well known and some not so well known. The banter back and forth is the best. Dave comes up with the topic and research and tells Gareth the story who has no idea what the topic is about. I highly recommend it, plus there are over 400 episodes to listen to :)

Hey what's up History underground! Question for you, me being a world history college prof who wants to start a podcast but keeps tripping over myself when it comes to "what style should I go with??" So I'm a popular college prof late 30s, my students are mostly mens and womens athletic teams and they like my New York New Jersey millennial Gen X casual style that sometimes sound "urban" i.e. I'll go from very formal English to, "But this is what this one historian told me which wasn't accurate. I was like dawg you can't expect me to believe that..." kind of urban storytelling then back to formal English. I was born and raised between the midwest and New Jersey so I have the full spectrum of those two accents to. Anyway I don't sound like Dan Carlin with that voice I'm more boyish sometimes Gary Vee sounding but can sound midwest radio NPR. Any tips on how to pick a style?? Try all?? I have full enrollment high evals courses. The mens womens New England yacht club athletes including football player find me very fun and entertaining. The more nerdy nerds who like old men prof Jordan Peterson vibes "let's read the text together" don't like me as much, non-athletes unless they lean towards gamer or for girls artsy type nerd then they like me.

Dan Carlin is the king of context, except when it comes to Israel/Palestine. If he hates it so much that he is forced to be on the wrong side of history or risk losing lots of money he should have just kept his mouth shut on the issue. He looks like an absolute coward either way. What's the point of studying history if you are just going to act like you are in a straightjacket forcing you to repeat the same mistakes over and over again?
