Sounds like a cowards move, though understandable when you can get a extra ally quicker, if you take your time in the wastes then that allows the other Chaos empires else where time to grow and be a bigger pain later down the road, especially Khorne, Nurgle and Tzeentch related ones, Slaneesh always seems to grow slower for me, not sure if that's common or not
In my experience, you have 2 options Number 1: Proceed through his slog of a campaing as intended, which is a very fun if tough challenge, rushing Archaon with a horde of Dervishes and kossars is a very unique experience. Number 2: Run the fuck away back to norsca first chance you get and build up your campaign from there with the proper support of the rest of kislev and now Malakai.
This campaign is simple: take your first settlement, recruit a full stack of Kossars, abandon your settlement and migrate to wherever you wanted to start. This method makes Boris the superior Kislev faction. Best climate bias, friendly with all Kislev factions, can confederate Kat and Kost any time because he's not constrained by the dumb supporter mechanic.
The supporter mechanic literally doesn't matter. If your rival beats you to it you don't lose. Nothing happens. If you have a good campaign you can just conquer Katarina if you want.
@@derrickbonsell The supporter mechanic does matter, because it prevents you from confederating the other faction until a certain point in time, which is usually around turn 60-65. Boris doesn't have the supporter mechanic and thus is not limited in confederating Kat and Kost. You can have both confederated by turn 30 as Boris, you will never have all 3 confederated by turn 30 as Kat or Kost. Combined with better climate bias and the freedom to migrate to where you want at the start, Boris is the superior Kislev faction.

I always abandoned Boris starting region and go to Norsca. Keeps Kislev alive and the chaos factions are too busy fighting each other to care about me.
I would disagree on the statement of him being far from home, he really isn't. He's close enough that it gives Kislev a strong northern presence, at least, it would, if they weren't grossly outnumbered by Chaos and other things.

You're much better of just going to Norsca and northern Kislev early on. Then just work your way back to chaos

It's bloody retarded how ONLY boris gets the immunity to chaos wastes attrition, all your other other lords get borked.
That's why I pull the Frozen Landing Strat, I build it all up and THEN start the slow march north, with Boris at the front.

I unlocked him on xbox, but then i had to unlock him on steam again. Not very pleasent
I just can’t play Boris because I run into Archaon, look at him, hear a voiceline or two, then leave to go play Archaon
I can't unlock him every time I do the battle an enemy unit glitches out and goes under the map
There is a mod where you can just auto resolve the quest battles.
