I REMEMBER when the dealers windows were covered in brown paper until the
announced introduction of the new models - I've seen crowds 3-4 deep waiting
on the sidewalk for the paper to be removed and the doors opened.

It's amazing how variable speed windshield wipers are not available today--and it'd be great to have.

Excelent cars in 55, 56 Chrysler too. Out west in the mtn states and no traffic we ran them 90 to 100 all day.

In 1964, I owned a brand new Dodge Dart. I T-boned a 1955 DeSoto. I dented the right front door. The door still opened and closed. The Dart needed a new bumper, headlights, grille, radiator, fan, water pump, hood and left front quarter panel.

I REMEMBER the dealership's windows being covered with brown paper until the announcement date,
and different makes were introduced on different dates...
That's when automakers had something to show - not the bland, generic 'car' being offered today.

    • @autochronicles8667

Bill Kennedy and Joe Walker got chewed out in the back room because they didn’t sell enough new Desotos. Kennedy stormed off the job and Walker got so mad he stunk up the toilet. Then using extra paper he stopped up the bowl causing it to overflow into the sales floor. The owner ushered Joe out of the building. Because he lost his job his demonstrator car was taken away from him and he had to stand at the bus stop for 50 minutes in a cold driving rain.
